Come back after 20 more and lets talk

Braves1984, 1.3 is the latest set, its a few pages back (im on 40 posts a page) and its on SportsConnect.

re: starters stamina, no, its fine, i wont be changing it, ive been 7/8 innings and more plenty of times with dominant starters throwing over 100 pitches, remember, you do not and certainly should not, be maxing out the meter each time you throw a pitch.
    1) There's just the one slider post right? It's the one that you keep updating correct?

    2) For those using classic pitching, could an increase in pitcher stamina be warranted as we have no real control over effectiveness the same way you do with meter pitching?

      Thanks
      That is it yes.

The other settings for myself are basically meter pitching, all aids off, no k zone, no guess pitch etc, ball marker to fade, thats about it.

edit: Mike, there are 3 but the first set on the thread is up to date with 1.3

As per the classic question, possibly, i cant really answer as ive always used meter. Suck it and see.

I keep guess pitch on but NEVER use it. I just like that you also get the detailed swing feedback with it on so I keep it that way. I've found that using it only makes me over-anxious.

You can control the "power" of the pitch with Classic mode. Nemesis had a post somewhere, basically explaining when to release X on your pitch.

But I agree with Psycho, I think where he has Reliever stamina is perfectly fine.

i am having a major lack in the home run department. I am playing with the Braves and they are not a power hitting team but i was just curious if people use the left joystick? If i do not use the left joystick will i see better power numbers? Not sure if pointing the joystick in the wrong direction effects your swing?

I was a little bit until the last game i just finished, hit 3 huge bombs with Philly, (which made it 6 in 8 games, mostly with weak hitting teams, so thats fine) one into the second tier with Howard which is nothing out of the ordinary but a 10 row backer from Ruiz then a monster from Peddy Feliz as well, it was a beautiful game actually, Hamels threw 7.1 innings of top class ball before the bullpen nearly blew it.

                ATL 4 10 0
                PHI 5 11 0

I hit, and always have done, using just the x button, no L stick, so dont worry, they will come in time, just stick with it.

Yes it will affect your swing. If you aim the stick low and outside and the pitch is high and inside you are probably not going to hit the ball.
The best thing for me was go into batting practice, put PCI on and work at timing and placement of the stick. You'll get feedback about your swing, your timing, and contact by pressing R2. If you struggle against one kind of pitch you can choose just that pitch. It's turned my hitting around completely now, and it feels much more rewarding making solid contact.

Psycho, I like the sliders but how can I improve the CPU patience at the plate. In my last game against the Royals, Carmona through a complete game only throwing 94 pitches. 80 for strikes and 14 for balls. I allowed run 1 on 6 hits and that was a pointless homerun in the 8th when it was alread 5-1. So what can I do to improve CPU patience at the plate?

It's just one game, and against the Royals at that.

It is hard to control computer attacking the ball. The best thing you can do is up the computer power so you will fear the computer a little more and pitch to the corners; or lower user pitch control. Just a thought

True, like psycho said, I will play about 10 or so games before i make any changes.

Yes, i would take the advice already given, play a bunch more games. I have played at least 30+ games with these sliders and get different results everytime out. For ex. I use the Rays, i beat the Yankees 3-2 (Sabathia), then the RedSox 4-1 (Penny). Then i got blasted by Detroit, K.C., and Anahiem 9-3, 7-2, 7-0, so right when i thought man these sliders are gonna be to easy the game humbled me big time. I myself know that EVERY game i have to be on top of things or i lose. Give it 15 solid games and see what happens, if its to easy then move up to HOF , but keep the sliders where they are.

Thats a ridiculous strike to ball ratio Jon, as im sure you know, my strike %age is usually around 65%, between 60-70 basically, in line with reality.

I would suggest you are throwing way too many strikes, you must, absolutely must, deliberately throw a lot more balls and nibble more, if only to keep the hitters off balance. It was, as has been said, only the Royals, throw that sort of strike %age against a power hitting team and you will get hammered.

Sliders can only do so much, they are reliant on the user pitching realistically as well.

LOL, the CPU has put some Ball/strike ratios on me before like that, but thats my fault swinging like a little leaguer. I agree with Bulk on this, that kind of ratio will get you a 7.00-8.00 era after 10games.
