Do any of you guys use these sliders for RTTS? If so how have they worked for you?

        Hey Psycho great sliders

A few questions though - I know it's best to wait a little while before altering sliders, but considering I've just started playing the game I've already started feeling way too comfortable hitting, getting 12 or more hits in several of my last few games (against good and bad pitchers). One question is

        1. What slider reduces hits without reducing the hit-double ratio? Which slider has the highest correlation to doubles?

        2. I think one of the biggest reasons I'm hitting well is the computer is throwing way too many pitches over the middle of the plate - i know the saying goes that you get one good pitch to hit per at bat but I still feel like I'm seeing them far too often. Is this a 'difficulty level' thing, CPU pitcher control, CPU pitcher consistency or a CPU strikes slider thing?

        3. How do you guys possibly leave starter stamina at 5? I've decided to turn it up all the way to 10- in real life, Sabathia gets tired at about 120 pitches yet, even at a slider level of 8, he starts getting tired around 80... This is the same relatively for all my other pitchers, is this just because I'm early in the season?

        4. Any way to increase first to thirds on base hits to center/right field? It seems to me outfielder arms are still too strong but as there is no separate slider for this, dunno if it's fixable.

        Thanks for the help!

          (1) Turning down Contact, and nothing else, helps in this department. As the season went along, my hitting also got better and better and my team batting average through 50 games went up to over .300. I turned it down an extra notch and have seen less base hits, but my runs, doubles, homeruns remained constant.

          (2) You can start by turning down CPU Strike Frequency some more (like 0). I would also suggest turning up CPU Control another notch, but that might mess with your hitting results and your total offense too.

          (3) I've been able to get complete games with it at 5. It depends on each User though. I pitch more to contact, so my starters never throw that many pitches anyway. It feels fine to me to what Psycho has them, but if you're not seeing your starters go deep enough, then you can go ahead and raise it as you see fit. That's what sliders are there for Not everybody's skill level will be in tune with one slider set.

          (4) Hard to say. You could lower the Fielder Arm Strength some more, but I noticed a similar problem too. The arm strength feels perfect at 3 under all conditions, except outfielders seem to throw much harder in those 1st to 3rd situations. I noticed that throwing home or tagging up, it feels fine, but they throw more lasers when you try to go to 3rd.

I checked out these sliders in the Sports Connect download area. It's already up to over 1700 downloads!

I'm off to work, but I may d/l these later. 1700+ downloads means these sliders must be good. Oh, and they're in the top ten as well. Good job, Psychobulk!

Hey thanks for the help. I actually tried turning the 'cpu strikes' UP one before seeing your post, as I thought that maybe the reason I was getting pitches over the middle was the amount of times they were behind in the count (I've been pretty patient and taking lots of pitches) also lowered timing contact and solid hits by just one, been very good for the two games I've used it (one against Cliff Lee and another against a no name), hits were cut down a bit but still got a few doubles and hrs, only got a few walks but too small a sample size esp considering i was facing Lee in one of the games.

Also with ur answer to the third question, its not a matter for me of how well im doing or not, but rather a pitch count thing, meaning i dont want a starter with good stamina to be pretty much empty on energy before 100 pitches, unless ive been dialing it up to the red on every pitch (which I haven't). Sabathia was tired in the 80-90 range, which is pretty unrealistic. Have had the slider on 10 for the last two games and it seems good so far

Agree with you on the first to thirds, so I think I may just leave that where it is and deal with it.

                Thanks!

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I'm fading in my division and fast. My record isn't all that bad (14-12) but I'm 6 1/2 GB. I'm hitting .285 as a team and have an ERA of 4.3 so I don't know what the problem is.

Psycho, I did go ahead and drop the manager hook to 5 and it's playing great for me. I'm using your sliders to a tee otherwise though and they are great.

I don't like losing though!!!! I hope I snap out of this quickly and the Mets start go on a losing streak to let me get back into the race.

                    You have played 26 games.

The season is 162 games long.

Many twists and turns to come!

i haven't, needless to say, read through the whole of this thread, but echoing the argument about the pitch count above. i play without any stamina alterations from the rosters that razr made, cos i've heard they aren't properly done yet, so would you say you still see god results on stamina 5 for both, cos i just had a game with derek lowe against edinson volquez and they were both almost out of energy completely after 70 pitches (this is not to say i've not thrown a lot of CGs in my time, it's just that sometimes i've thrown the whole of the 9th and sometimes even the 8th with no energy just to get the SO!), which seemed to be a bit low to me?

That has to be razrs edits then, because i have never seen a pitcher even close to being totally out of energy after 70/80 pitches. I routinely throw over 100, sometimes 120/130 with someone tossing a gem.

I usually see pitchers throw around 100 pitches with manager hook at 5. I haven't seen a pitcher throw 120 or 130 on me yet. In fact Santana just went 8 innings of 1 run ball against me and they pulled him after 98 pitches. I've seen some go as high as 108 but that's about it. Santana though did have about 5% of his energy left though so he could have gone longer if the manager would have let him.

Just finished my first full 162 game season with these sliders on HOF level. I went 95-67 with the Yanks and currently just took the Angels in game 4 of the ALDS. Thank you so much for these sliders. Here are some stats..
                            Avg / HR
                            Swisher .349 38
                            Texiera .337 35
                            Jeter .326 15
                            Damon .335 31
                            Posada .372 25
                            Matsui .316 35
                            Cabrera .284 6
                            Cano .312 14

                            Team AVG. .323

                            Team ERA 4.82

Obviously I need to adjust the hitting sliders. What do you guys think I should do to lower these averages for my next season? No way am I going back to Legend I am having way to much fun here with these sliders on HOF.

Why did you decide to put the manager's hook slider back to default? I've been thinking of doing this. . .sometimes I think the CPU takes guys out too quickly/often with it at 6.

The CPU wasn't leaving their starters in long enough for my taste. What I found was the CPU would start taking their starter out after the 75 pitch mark at the first sign of trouble. I never saw a pitcher throw 100 pitches vs me, even if he was pitching well. The most I ever saw with it at 6 was 92 and that was only because he was throwing a shutout. I just felt 6 was a bit to high, I was hesitant to make the adjustment because I wanted to use PB's exact sliders but I eventually had to make the switch. I played a good 22 games before I made the switch, I wanted to make sure I wasn't changing them to quickly but I just wasn't satisfied with how quick they kept taking their starters out.

Evidently 6 works great for PB but it wasn't working for me.
