Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show

One thing I think I'm going to do is go back to catcher view and lower pitch seed to 0 instead of leaving it at default. I really struggle with strikeouts and I end up swinging before I see where the ball is going so I need a longer look at the pitch. So my changes to Psycho's sliders have been

Fielder Arm Strength from 5 to 3, he later changed it.

    Injury from 5 to 1

Pitch Speed from 5 to 0

CPU Pitcher Consistency from 4 to 3

CPU Strike Frequency from 2 to 0

Steal Frequency from 6 to 5

For me and the way I play that's perfect, for someone else it may not be because they play with different gameplay options but for someone that uses auto baserunning, auto fielding, and auto throwing I think that's the best slider set to use.

Just want to say that your sliders are giving me a great time Psycho. The CPU really makes me work for my wins...but I have tons of fun even when I lose. Heck, even when I bring Mariano Rivera in I still get the willies lol.

Just to add my input (sorry for the DP), I use auto fielding and baserunning and Psycho's sliders are giving me some really good games.

Hey Bulk Iam into 3 Gms with SD Iam going thru the whole shot start to finish with the season with your sliders. Iam 2-1 Cleve Just beat me 3-1 With a rookie Lapote, the pitch was inside @ down, Great slider, next thing I know its in the cheap seats. which I think is great, because it should have been Hafner or Martinez or Sizemore but Lapote. I mean it was a shot, that quick. Sliders Play great for me, thanks bulk for your time.Oh Ya averaging 2 to 3 walk @ 7 to 9 S.O. per Gm. ( classic Pitching ) Thanks again Bulk> Hop!!

I think, for me, pitch speed and solid hits need to be changed. Far too many grounders and fly balls. It also sucks not being able to see the pitch being thrown. Everything looks the same.

I feel lowering fielder reaction to 8 or 9 plays more realistic and wont cause more hits , its more visual I guess it doesnt matter to most very unrealistic IMO ? isnt this what The Perfect Sliders are all about , I mean they aren't name the near perfect ? gotta ruff you up at bit Bulk lol ! thanks again for the link

Real nice variety in 3 games with these Bulk.
2 semi-slugfests (not a ton of hits but a lot of 2-run, and 3-run homers in big spots) followed by a pitchers' duel between Blackburn and Phil Hughes(me). Gave up a solo HR to Morneau in the first. Not surprised as he had 10 RBI in the 3 games so far. Stayed that way until I got a solo shot from Posada in the 8th off a tiring Blackburn (he was all over the place to the 1st 2 hitters in the 8th) and then I tied it up on a botched DP by the Twins, then took the lead on a throwing error by their 2nd baseman Casilla (his 4th E in 3 games) after the ball took a funny bounce that he somehow came up with, but threw way.
I'm still having a hell of a time keeping the CPU from scoring in the 1st inning.

Bulk I did change one thing ( pitch speed ), last yr 08 I played with Rod- Carew sliders, his pitch speed was max out also. I dont know, And I cant explane it, I just see the ball better, and I am not swing like a lame-duck, like I usely do with soft pitches. Hop!!

                        Very useful, thanks.

Would it be a dangerous question to ask whether CPU Comeback is ON or OFF?

Some feedback on the 1.3 sliders, I've only played about 5 games on AllStar with the 1.3 sliders (was on Veteran with Guess Pitch On), but I've noticed a sudden increase in the number of home runs being hit by the opposition.

The game has become noticeably more difficult for me, but I'm supposing that's the move from Veteran to AllStar. I'm hitting fewer balls and it's more challenging to get a ball past their batters, but that's expected going up a difficulty level.

I never really used the Guess Pitch function, so does disabling it have any effect other than removing the feature?

Does psycho sliders work for people that use the left stick to hit or are they just swing only sliders?

                          Thanks for the help

Wow. I'm not sure if I should have pitch speed at 10 or 0, but one thing I do know is the more I play this game, the more I struggle with making it an accurate representation of baseball.

I'm having decent success with L stick hitting. I actually just started it yesterday so I can only assume I'll get better.
I see a lot more bloop hits this way too. Plus I don't try zipping the cursor around (which I am using on until I get a better feel for it) I kind of pick a spot and leave it there. Has helped quite a bit.
