Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show
Currently I have CPU all at default except timing (4), and just when I started thinking I really haven't given up many HR I gave up 6 in one game to the Cards. I might bump it up CPu power to 6 eventually but I think me and my 4.74 era will sit tight for the moment.Comment

Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show
Psycho,
Gotta chime in here, man...these are freakin' fantastic sliders.
I'm nine games into my Texas season using these, and am 5-4 overall.
I played five games last night alone and my scores were:
at Det L 1-3 Verlander owned me.
at Det W 2-1
Then I shifted back to the Launching Pad in Texas and boom...
vs Balt W 6-4
vs Balt L 6-8 Gave up five homers. I hate Millwood. Fell down 6-0 in 1st.
vs Balt W 10-8. A 17 mph blowing straight out. Hit two hrs, they hit three.
As you can see, this is just a small five game sample from last night, but I've used these in all nine games and am very happy. Every game is different.
Through nine games I'm hitting .316 but my ERA is a lofty 5.74. I chalk both up to "Hey, I'm using Texas". Their offense is sick but their pitching is God awful. I have 10 doubles, 1 triple and 9 hr through the nine games. Hit variety is great.
I, too, was worried about the cpu offense but then Baltimore just exploded on me. These play very, very good. I used to play default All-Star but it was just overkill with the cpu hr's and liners and 16 hits per game.
With these, it feels like baseball again! Awesome job!Comment

Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show
Last night, I banged around Mark Hendrickson for nine runs in a two inning span(he left with the bases loaded and I drove them all in), but his confidence was plummeting with each pitch. I had a run where I reached base with six straight batters, and they weren't all hits. He walked TWO guys on four pitches, gave up a homer, and the other three were singles or doubles.
When you get the cpu pitcher reeling like that, you'll know it. It feels like you will never get out again. You see pitches better, and you make them pay for it. It's a good feeling.Comment

Disagree totally on this one.

I haven't seen it yet. Maybe I've just played against great pitchers while in that situation. I'll have to keep a closer eye on it.Comment

Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show
i been using these since the day psycho posted them. I should not that i have been using them in my RTTS game with my pitcher. From a pitching percpective i feel like its giving me an accurate representation
I was wondering if psycho made any adjustments to the first set. I didnt see a update in the first post and didnt want to look through all these pages. is there an updated set?Comment

Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show
They really need to fix two things and this game would be perfect, despite me not being able to win.
1. The ability to judge what pitch is being thrown. This is a pretty important thing to be able to do in a baseball game. I've tried different camera angles and changing pitch speed, but every pitch looks the same until it hits the catcher's glove and then you get to see how it broke.
Changing the pitching speed has help me see the ball better. I use to strike out 11x a game. Now its around 5, 6, 7 or more depending on how good of a pitcher I'm facing. Try turning off guess pitching and just concentrate on the timing. Also pay attention to the count. Know the situation you are in. Pay attention to what kind of pitches the opposing pitcher has so you know what to expect.Comment

Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show
I thought all this time I did have a gameplan. Maybe I better rethink it
Do you guys see a lot of the CPU hitters chase bad pitches? Sometimes I feel I have a guy setup pretty good but that's when my now questionable gameplan goes awry.Comment

Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show
Yeah, quite a bit if ive set him up right, had Vlad of all people out on 3 straight heaters from Matt Garza last night, low and in he left it, 0-1, highish and away he swung and missed, 0-2, thought to myself lets see if he'll chase another fastball so threw one WAY above the zone, nearly head height and low and behold he chases and gets nowhere near, strike 3 you gone boy!Comment

Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show
Psycho, you should keep an updated slider list on your first page
I know that a lot of n00bs might find the thread, and won't want to sort through 10+ pages of discussion to find the first version, let alone know that there's more revisions.
Yeah it is on pg. 16 #152 but here you go.

Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show
High fastballs out of the zone are great strike out pitches. Just make sure you get it high enough that it is out of the zone. I have tried to come in with some high cheese and missed my spot and needless to say the guy took it out 400 feet.
I try to set up the fastball with an off speed pitch low and away and then bust the hitter back up top with a fastball. It is not cheesy though, doesn't work all of the time, but if you have a free swinger like Giambi or someone like that, you can get them on it.Comment
