I know you said NOT to draw any conclusions on a single game but I just wanted to tell you I just played my first game with your settings and was very pleased with the results.

I started a franchise on All-Star with my home team Red Sox and beat the fuc*ing Yankees 3-2 in the 10th inning with a walk-off homerun by Victor Martinez.

Anyway, just wanted to share that with you and thanks for making my gaming experience that must better.

just through the first week of the real MLB season, San Francisco is hitting .348 or something and Tampa Bay is near that too. There are also about 8 teams with team ERAs less than 2.99.

I would say just relax and keep playing, lol. That's one of the problems with sliders, people are so over anxious to adjust sliders after every game or handful of games.

MLB averages are just that....AVERAGES. When real life stats say that MLB average is .265 for a team, that means there's teams that are above that, below that, and within each of those teams there's fluctuations from game to game week by week and month to month. It's not like a team hits and pitches to their average every single game or every single week.

I am like a repeating record, but sliders are just skill level tweaks for the User. Don't blame the sliders if the game is too easy or too hard. Just tweak them as necessary. It's not like sliders activate hidden code to make the game play with realistic stats.

What I do first is figure out which difficulty level gives me the best overall feel over a large sample size of games which will give me competitive games where I can win and lose without it feeling too hard or too easy.

After that, you can start fine tuning the sliders for an even better and more balanced experience.
I usually do wait 25-30 games to comment on a slider set, but I had already played 25 games with the SCEA rosters and then 7 games with Knights rosters, there was a noticeable change for me and I wanted to see what everyone else's input was.

For some reason, I seem to be the extreme minority in this regard, in that I am unable to play with Solid Hits at zero. For both teams it is a weak ground ball or pop up fest (tested it for 13 games, kept stats for everything). I will get the 'meatball' or 'wheelhouse' feedback with 'perfect' timing and the result will be a 2-hop routine GIDP, consistently.

I now play with solid hits at 1, and it works pretty well. I have also reduced the IF reaction time, because one hoppers and liners seem to trigger the IF dive animation, which results in 2-4 "web gems" per game, most often with 2B/3B.

Also the PControl at 6 and PConsistency at 7, seems to feature too great of control for most pitchers. The ball/strike ratio works out well, just that the quality of contact for balls in play is inferior (or even if contact is good, there's only so much a hitter can do with a well placed pitch).

I lowered it to PCtrl=5, and PCons=6, and am thinking about reversing that ... so that P's have more control (6), but less consistency(5).

Just for discussion sake, I threw a back-2-back shutouts with Garcia and Peavy against Texas (4th best offense in my franchise) ... for Peavy this would be 3 hits allowed in his last 23 IP. The 6 & 7 ratings for me allow for continual "pinpointing" of the strike zone (or just off). The pitching meter is only so difficult (even from outfield view). That's just how it is. I would love the Show to have 2k's pitching controls/gestures. The other option would be to move up a level in pitching, but I think the lower consistency slider will adjust it just enough to move back toward realistic.

When I look at the slider adjustments discussed in this thread, I am unsure as to how the result for everyone is NOT a "light hitting" ... since solid hits has been reduced from 5 to zero, and pitcher control and consistency has been raised (with everything else remaining essentially default).

One thing I have discovered is that the ball/strike ratios/totals pretty much remain similar unless the sliders are moved to the extreme.

          Just discussin'.

yeah i totally agree. I think after I finish my saved game im gonna play with default sliders for a while to get a solid base of comparison.

Just wanted to say your sliders looks pretty good so far (well after only one game) but I can tell the difference from few things on this game so far. Looking good, gonna use it more and see if i'm happy with it. I actually lost the game in the 10th thanks to Rollins homerun. I outhit them 11-10, but they beat me 3-2, 3 was off homeruns. But i'm seeing more in the gap hits and liners.. kinda funny seeing the fielders running in slow motions lol.

lol, so i loaded up my game from last night that I had saved. I was on the road against the jays and i believe it was 2-1 Me (w sox obviously) in the 6th and I was in a jam. I think it was 1st and 2nd with no outs. I got out of the jam, and an inning later I ended up batting around with a few walks including a basesloaded one and put up a 6 run inning. Ended up with a nice 8-1 win. This is what I was waiting for, as all my previous games were close besides one where I gave up a huge inning in the 9th.

I'm glad someone can hit with him. I'm embarassing the Cuban Missle. I think it's his stance that gets me ... he's close to the plate and his hands are extended. On the other hand, I'm crushing with Andruw Jones, open stance hands high. I do lead the league in "balls ripped down the line just foul" with Alexei, so that's all my fault. *grin*

I just played my 2nd game.. had TONS of fun! Jays against the Orioles, and we just kept taking turns scoring runs, in the first 4 or 5 innings, we ended up being 6-6. Our relievers shut eachother down the rest of the way till the top of the 9th when Tejada made a horrible error and scored a runner from 1st, hitter end up on 3rd. Then a simple grounder that Izturis tried to throw home but I was safe there. NExt 2 were outs and went onto close the bottom of the 9th! That was fun! They hit a ton of homeruns though.. well i deserved that after throwing quite a few meatballs (using classic pitching and the 5th starter - Eveland, he sucks in the game lol)

I could see lots of variety of hits, more infield diving plays even had one diving catch by Vernon Wells.. first time i've seen it the whole time i've played the show 10.. guess it helps with the fielding speed.

So far I'm having tons of fun.. i know it's only 2 games but looking so damn good!

Are you guys getting WAY to many hits like I am (both me and the CPU) every game? I've yet to play a game where both teams have fewer than 10 hits.

I'm getting a lot of hits too. Out of 10 games I've played so far in my franchise, only one of them did I get less than 10 hits. As for my lineup, more than half of my guys are hitting over .350.

What would fix this? Raising the difficulty I guess? I also strike out 10-15 times per game. So take those away and I'd be getting 20 hits per game.

As I said in your other thread, take Contact down another notch, and turn down Timing to 3, along with Solid Hits at 1 or 0

I already have solid hits at 0. Will turning contact down to 3 or 4 result in too few weak hits even with perfect timing? I just want a good balance. I like the 10+ hit games, but not every single game. I want to play some games where I can only scratch out 3-4 hits. It just takes the enjoyment out of the game if it is a shootout every time. I don't want every batter on my team batting .300.
