Re: If your having trouble on allstar GIVE VETERAN a TRY

Can these sliders work for people that prefer meter pitching instead of classic? Would you recommend any adjustments for those that prefer meter?

I'm intrigued by the sliders. I have to admit I'm a little scared of what I'll see with SH and Power so high. However, I'm willing to give them a try. I just prefer meter pitching.

If your scarried follow my instructions and and lower your Hu contact or raise your pitch speed .
I say Classic pitch ONLY as Meter is too pin point and Hu Pitcher Con is already at 1 .
But you really gotta play a bunch of games , good luck

for about the last 25 exhibition games or so, with of course some tweaks, I'm on VETERAN for HITTING, and ALL-STAR for PITCHING (classic)
On Allstar with other peoples sliders I would get 9-12 singles per game and 10 -12 strikouts per game and most games were 1 run or nail bitters .

But on All Star in this game, it almost feels scripted to a degree and I'm really not getting better. I am the Royals, which should result in a not great record, but I'm 5-20 in my season and frustrated to the point where I'm ready to shelve the game.

It seems like the CPU is either hitting every corner and I can't make solid contact, or everything I swing at is a hard hit ball and I can score some runs in bunches. Sadly, the first seems to be happening more often and in 2 of every 3 games or so I'm scoring 0-1 run.

It's similar when I'm pitching. It seems like either the CPU is hitting every pitch regardless of location on a rope and scoring 10+ runs, or I can just groove fastballs down the middle all day and shut them down. Close games in the late innings have also become more and more of a frustration. Every player develops a perfect eye for the strike zone, fouls pitches off repeatedly, and drives every mistake into the alley or over the fence. Next thing you know a 1-0 lead turns into an 6-1 deficit. And once the CPU starts rolling, there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it. No matter what pitcher you bring in or what pitch you throw.

Most of my games are either 5-1 wins, 8-1 losses, or some 14-10 shootout. And it's at the point where basically by the end of the 3rd inning I can tell you which it's going to be. This is playing many games with different slider combinations on All Star. Basically what I'm looking for is an 'enjoyable challenge'. It seems like on All Star, you better put 100% into every pitch whether you're on the mound or at the plate. And even then if you do the right thing, like swing perfect at a meatball or locate a pitch well, the CPU still gets over more often than not. I'm not saying guys don't miss meatballs or hit tough pitches for extra base hits. It just seems like the game is less about what I'm doing to determine the outcome, and more about the script. From what I'm reading, going to back to Veteran could improve this. I just don't want the game to be cheesy in my favor like I feel it is to the CPU right now.
I know what you mean on the scripted feeling at times and to be politically correct I call it Cpu AI strength factor which I find on Veteran isnt as pronnounced but remember Confidence also plays a huge part in this games logic also.
I tried to tweak these Titus sliders to be more slider based to lessen that hopeless feeling.

Like you I have seen many things happen for CPU and Myself and while the outcomes are realistic stat wise I hope next year it will be better implemented feel wise , more natural .
I just won a great game 9-8 playoffs me Yanks vs Texas and I came back from two three run deficits and won on a walkoff HR by Swisher but parts of the game felt predictable at times as I understand how the game is programmed and on veteran level as its more controllable for me .
I accept its not really a sliders based game , more of a sim engine which is actually kind of cool so we dont have guys hitting 85 Hr or ERAs at 0.25 .

So my only wish for next year is how things happen ,FEEL WISE , that its more fine tuned , as its frustrating when I know I hit a ball perfect and get nothing and then on the same swing at the right time and situation its a HR .

In case im misunderstood Im not saying the game is scripted , I think its more like EVERYTHING big and little that counts each play , whos pitching , whos batting , confidence , attributes , situations on pitch count ect all play a huge part that calculates outcomes of course while adding Human imput .
        Rant Over

As I mentioned before in Many Threads Mizzouj the Depth range of the sliders on Veteran level this year are alot deeper than on l 09 and you can make it play as easy or as hard as you want without The extra CPU AI factor that allstar and Higher levels have with Titus adjustments .
In fact I actually lose more on Veteran than I did on allstar but without all that what just happened feeling you seem to have as my stats have incredible on this level.
Well lets us know how its works out and good luck

Re: If your having trouble on allstar GIVE VETERAN a TRY

Just as a point of reference, let me post the sliders I'm using:

          Hum/CPU contact - 4
          Hum/CPU reliever stamina - 4
          Hum/CPU pitch consistency - 6
          CPU strike frequency - 4
          CPU pickoffs - 4
Global Fielder arm strength - 4
          Global Fielder reaction - 6
Global Fielder run speed - 4
          Wind - 4

Everything else is default. I'm of the opinion that the game was built to play at its best close to default, so I believe in a +/- 1 tweak system and it has produced good results for me. So far I'm really enjoying the veteran experience. The CPU is able to hit, but I'm also capable of shutting them down if I pitch well. If pitching gets to be too easy, I'll probably raise their contact back to default and maybe lower human control similar to Titus' sliders. I love the catcher suggestions. At least gives me a direction for pitching. If I really started shutting down opponents too much, I'd eventually go back to all star, but that will be the last resort, as it just feels like there is a cheese factor on there. Mostly referring to those times where it just feels like the CPU is going to have a big inning regardless of what you do. Last night when I gave one up it was because of MY mistakes, which I really enjoyed.

In terms of hitting, I'm probably getting a few too many hits, but nothing out of control and I'm still struggling to score (I get antsy with runners on base). Eventually I'll probably lower my contact to 3, as that seems to be a pretty key hitting slider. I don't want to start tweaking everything else, because the minute you change one slider it can effect others. So I'll just keep lowering contact as I get better at hitting. I will probably never go back to AS on batting, because I think it's a little out of my league, and I think the pitchers are way too juiced up once they get ahead in the count on that level. Same thing with runners on base. Once the count got to 2 strikes, I was done. I was striking out 10-15 times per game regardless of pitcher, unless I just got aggressive early in counts and then ended up swinging at too many bad pitches. Last night I was still striking out, but it seemed like in a lot more realistic sense.

Dont know what to say as they arent Titus sliders ?
So I cant give you any feedback but the only thing that matters is that they work for .

Re: If your having trouble on allstar GIVE VETERAN a TRY

just want to say thank you for this slider set. I was thinking that i'm the only person on this planet (i'm swiss btw) who has problems with this game and who is too often more frustrated than enjoyed while playing (especially on the hitting part). it has cost my already one controller so I was willing to sell the game on ebay.

then I found your thread and wanted to give it a last try ... and - they seem to fit for me perfectly!
I played only 4 games till now but for me its like a whole new game (besides the grafix of course which are awesome imo)! finally I can follow the pitches and can get a good feeling for balls and strikes. and even the stats look very real for me.

              so a big thanks, man!

Your Welcome and We all have different needs in this game .
Funny Thing I can actually win more on allstar but it just doesnt feel right for me with too many one run games .
So Veteran level has been a hidden gem that many are starting to find out about as I can really make it easy or hard as needed but most importantly without alot of the strong Cpu AI but Titus deserves alot of the credit .
