Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

You ever just have one of those games???? Detroit (me) vs Boston (CPU). Verlander vs. Lester. I lost 6-0 on a 1 hitter by Lester. Salty had 2 bombs and 4 RBI's. I struck out 18 times and Lester threw 137 pitches. His strike percentage was 82%!!!!! I couldn't hit the strike zone and he couldn't throw a pitch I wouldn't swing at!!!

Hahaha!!!! Oh well I guess these sliders are to blame!!!

Just kidding!!! I won the next game 3-0 on a 5 hitter!!

I turn throw cancelling off because every once in a great while you hit the buttom twice by accident and it cancels your throw.....usually in a crucial spot....and I don't utilize the cancelling of a throw anyway, so I'm better off without it

I recommend ZONE Hitting and you should be aiming your swing where the ball is pitched

IMO - That's when you get low hit variety. I get plenty of variety on timing using all three types of swings. For example Derek Jeter using contact is a deadly hitter.

*I apologize that this topic isn't thread related - just saw your comment and noticed you switching between timing and zone*

TNK - just wanted to chime in that I'm getting excellent results with V.2 of the sliders. I moved the pitch speed to 3 and am learning to use zone hitting with moving the pci and am getting a ton of variety to hits compared to when I was playing timing, or zone without moving the pci. Thanks again for all the hard work.

When using ZONE hitting.....I use normal swing almost all the time.....I use the contact swing when I'm behind in the count and trying to fight off pitches or just put the ball in play......I use the power swing only once in a while in a hitters count with a power hitter

I rarely use power swing, only if its 3-1 and I guess right on a fastball.

When using zone hitting are you all using the PCI or have that off? Also are you deciding before the pitch where to put the PCI and leaving it there or starting with it in the middle then trying to move it after the pitch is thrown?

Only thing I am having a problem with in regards to these sliders is with meter pitching it seems most times the pitches end up in the middle of the plate far to often.

I played a 4 game series against the Angels and they had 10+ hits in 3 of the games all using meter pitching. I won 3 out of the 4 games but it seemed like they would string together 3 or 4 hits in a row easily because even though I was aiming towards a corner of the strike zone the ball was going right down the middle or right into a batters wheelhouse.

I then switched to pulse pitching for the 4th game and held the Angels to 5 hits. They seemed to take WAY more pitches and it seemed like my pitches were hitting the spots I wanted much more consistently. Now obviously it seemed way easier which is what I don't want but it was also kinda absurd how the CPU was just whacking the ball all over the yard on meter pitching.

I'll also add that most of the hits I am giving up are grounders that most infielders would make plays on I think. I get the animation where the fielders act like the ball is just to fast and they can't get to it but if they took 1 more step before the animation it would be an out.

This lead me to go to manual fielding and yet I still get the same animation lol. So I think this might actually be a problem with the game and can't be fixed by sliders.

You aim while the pitch is coming in.....if it's going low - aim your swing low

You can hit the "X" swing button and push down while your guy is swinging

With meter i've found the same problem, i set consistency at 5.

I walked 6 batters last game using pulse pitching. Also a note, you can't hit the corner every time, you have to aim outside the zone sometimes, that way even if you miss the target it can still be a strike on the corner. I don't know why I'm talking about pitching though, my ERA is over 5 on the season heh.

                                TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

NEW YORK YANKEES @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #14 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Phil Hughes vs. Felix Doubront)

The Red Sox and Yankees play the 2nd game of a 3 game series at Fenway after Boston took game #1 yesterday. The Red Sox offense got started early as Ellsbury led off the bottom of the 1st inning with a solo blast to CF and Kevin Youkilis also hit a solo HR into the monster seats to give Boston a 2-0 lead after 1 inning. The Yankees loaded the bases in the bottom of the 2nd with 1 out for Russell Martin and he delivered a sac fly to RF to score Teixeira and make it a 2-1 game. Doubront got Jeter to fly out to end the inning and escape further damage. The Red Sox got a 2 out RBI single by Mike Aviles in the bottom of the 2nd and led 3-1 after 2 innings. New York went right back to work as Granderson led off the top of the 3rd with a solo HR to make it a 3-2 game. Swisher delivered a sac fly after Cano walked and Teixeira doubled and the game was tied at 3-3 until Andruw Jones doubled to score Teixeira and put the Yankees on top 4-3. Raul Ibanez delivered an RBI single to score Jones as the Yankees pushed across 4 runs in the top of the 3rd inning to take a 5-3 lead. The game went to the bottom of the 4th where the Red Sox had Cody Ross reach on a throwing error by jeter and Ryan Sweeney drew a 4 pitch walk to bring up Saltalamacchia with 2 on and nobody out, Saltalamacchia grounded out on a slow chopper to Teixeira allowing the runners to move into scoring position with 1 out. Mike Aviles was up next and he came through with a double in the gap to drive in 2 runs and tie the game and we would head to the 5th inning tied at 5-5. Nick Swisher led off the top of the 5th with a triple after Cody Ross misplayed the carom off the green monster and he came in to score on a sac fly by Jones to put New York back on top at 6-5. Boston responded in the bottom of the 6th as Cody Ross came up with a big 2 out RBI double down the LF line to drive in Gonzalez and tie the score at 6-6 and Phil Hughes day was done after a single by Sweeny as Joe Girardi called on Freddy Garcia to face Saltalamacchia with runners on the corners and 2 outs and Garcia got the final out of the inning on a pop out. Junichi Tazawa would relieved Doubront to begin the 6th with the score tied 6-6 and pitched a 1-2-3 inning which he finished by striking out Granderson looking on a filthy backdoor curveball. Garcia pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 6th for New York. Tazawa allowed back to back singled to A-Rod and Cano to begin the top of the 7th but bounced back as he got Teixeira to bounce into the 6-4-3 double play and then he got out of the jam when Swisher grounded out to end the inning. Garcia sat the Sox down in order again in the bottom of the 7th and the game would remain tied at 6-6 heading into the 8th inning. Matt Albers came on and pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 8th for Boston. The Red Sox could not do anything against Garcia in the bottom of the 8th and this game would go to the 9th inning tied 6-6. Granderson hit a 1 out double off Albers to give the Yankees a chance to take the lead, Albers struck out A-Rod for the 2nd out to bring up Cano and Albers got Cano to hit the ball on the ground to 3rd base for what would have been the final out of the inning, but the ball took a bad hop and went right over Youkilis shoulder into LF allowing Granderson to score and give the Yankees a 7-6 lead. Mariano Rivera would come on for the bottom of the 9th looking to close it out and pickup the save. Rivera got Aviles to ground out to begin the inning, Ellsbury followed with a ground out and it would be up to Dustin Pedroia to try and keep the Sox alive. Pedroia got a good pitch and but didn't hit it hard enough as he flew out to deep CF to end the game as the Yankees win 7-6.

                                * Rough night for both Felix Doubront and Phil Hughes as both starters were shaky. The bullpens were very good for both teams and the Yankees got 3.1 innings of hitless relief from Freddy Garcia

                                * CC Sabathia will face Daniel Bard tomorrow in the rubber match of the series

                                TRADE
                                * The Red Sox acquired OF Marlon Byrd from the Chicago Cubs for RP Michael Bowden prior to the game
