Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

These have played great as always but after another 30 games I am still close to last in the league in strikeouts.

Is there anyway to increase strikeouts but not detract from the CPU offense? Like I have noticed TONS AND TONS of outs are on little dribblers back to the mound. Even when the CPU totally misses the PCI by a large margin batters seem to still foul off tons of pitches and then eventually hit a weak grounder or hit a dribbler back to the mound.

      TNKNGM, quick question for you...

After almost 70 games now to without any glaring need to make any slider adjustments, I'm curious... is there any one slider you've even considered tweaking?

      Thanks ;-)

Again - you need to pitch better....you really need to set hitters up to get strikeouts.....pound a guy inside again and again and again....then get him to chase away.....work high and low, in and out, mix your pitches.....throw primarily fastballs, then be willing to throw 3 or 4 changeups or curveballs in a row

            TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

MIAMI MARLINS @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #68 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Anibal Sanchez vs. Clay Buchholz)

The Red Sox and Marlins open a three game series at Fenway after the Red Sox swept the Marlins last week in a 3 game series down in Miami. The Marlins had runners at the corners with one out in the 1st inning but the Sox turned a beautiful 4-6-3 double play started by Pedroia who got to the ball in the hole and made a turning throw to 2nd and were able to get out of the jam. Anibal Sanchez struck out the side in the bottom of the 1st. The Marlins loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the 2nd but Buchholz would strike out Greg Dobbs and get Jose Reyes to ground out to wiggle out of danger again and keep the game scoreless 0-0. Anibal Sanchez was pounding the strike zone and the Red Sox were going down quietly as we moved to the 4th inning with the score tied at 0-0. The Red Sox opened the scoring in the bottom of the 4th as they got back to back doubles by Ortiz and Youkilis to take a 1-0 lead. Miami would get on the board in the top of the 5th as Stanton delivered an RBI single with two outs to tie the game at 1-1. We would move to the 7th inning tied at 1-1 as Sanchez and Buchholz were both sailing along and pitching well. Buchholz was over 100 pitches and finished his day on the mound with a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 7th. Jarrod Saltalamacchia just missed a HR leading off the bottom of the 7th as Bonifacio made a catch right up against the wall in front of the bullpens in RF. Cody Ross and Ryan Sweeney put together back to back singles with one out as the Sox were threatening but Sanchez would get Aviles and Ellsbury to get out of the jam and send the game to the 8th inning tied 1-1. Mark Melancon came in for Boston and Hanley Ramirez led off the top of the 8th with a double down the LF line. Melancon would issue a 4 pitch walk to Stanton and Bobby Valentine made the move to Vicente Padilla with two men on and nobody out. Padilla made a good pitch but Logan Morrison hit a seeing eye RBI single up the middle to score Ramirez and give the Marlins a 2-1 lead. Padilla would bounce back to get out of the inning without any further damage. Adrian Gonzalez would double with one out in the bottom of the 8th and that would end the day for Sanchez as Edwin Mujica came in from the pen. Mujica would get David Ortiz to fly out for a big 2nd out. Kevin Youkilis was up next and he came through with a huge two out RBI single to CF to score Gonzalez and tie the game 2-2. Mujica would strike out Saltalamacchia to end the inning and we would go to the 9th inning with the score tied 2-2. Padilla pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 9th to give Boston a chance to win in the bottom of the 9th. Cody Ross led off the bottom of the 9th with a single off Steve Cishek who just entered the game. Ryan Sweeney followed with another single and the Sox had two men on with nobody out. Mike Aviles was up next and he laid down a sac bunt to move the runners up and bring up Jacoby Ellsbury with a chance to win it. Cishek would issue an intentional walk to Ellsbury to load the bases and take their chances against Dustin Pedroia with one out. Pedroia fell behind in the count and fought off 3 tough pitches to stay alive before finally putting the 9th pitch of the at bat in play and hitting a fly ball to CF and Ross would beat the throw from Bonifacio to the plate to score the winning run as the Red Sox win in walkoff fashion with a big come from behind 3-2 victory.

            * The Red Sox take game one of the series and will send Felix Doubront to the mound tomorrow against Carlos Zambrano for Miami. The Red Sox have now won 8 of their last 9 games and have gone 11-5 so far in the month of June

            * Clay Buchholz worked out of some early jams in this game and gave his team a great effort on the mound as he went 7 strong innings and allowed just one run. Buchholz has been pitching well and has an ERA of 1.38 in his last 4 starts

Hey TNK, I just bought this game and have played about 4 or 5 games with these. A little frustrated that even when I'm seeing "Wheelhouse" and "perfect timing" with a guy like AGon, I'm grounding into second. Will these balance themselves out, cuz I've hit 0 homers so far. Even with "perfect" power swings.

2 HOURS 25 MINUTES REAL TIME 18 INNING RIVALRY GAME!!!

This couldn't have gone any better or been any more enjoyable. It happened against the Dodgers and I came out on the winning end.

                Notes
Ryan Theriot is getting robbed so bad, lol. There was even a cutaway where he shook his head and threw his hands in the air on an at bat before going back to the dugout.
This game should have been over in the Bot of the 10th. I had bases loaded 1 out. struck out with Sandoval and Posey...unbelievable, i was so pi$$ed. However, it made for a better game.
Bot 18th Kershaw was warming up in bullpen.
Buster Posey walk off HR 3-0 count

-TNK thank you for the advice on strikeouts, it's coming along hopefully will keep getting more as I play on. Thanks again for the sliders as well.

So you just bought the game and have played 4 or 5 games....and you're struggling......JOIN THE CLUB

                  A) Don't use Power Swing
                  B) Use Normal Swing 99% of the time
                  C) It's not the sliders - you need to practice and get better.....sorry that you can't just purchase the game, plug these sliders in and flat out rake

Only slider I change when simming the CPU vs. CPU games is I drop injuries down to 1 and move it back to 6 when I play my games.

As far as CPU Trades - use the search feature to find the threads on setting up 30 team control and figure out WHAT YOU WANT TO DO

I myself, I use 30 team control....right now I have CPU trading off and I am making all relevant moves throughout the season to go along with real life. At the end of my season I will turn CPU trading back on and go from there.

                        TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

MIAMI MARLINS @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #69 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Carlos Zambrano vs. Felix Doubront)

The Red Sox have won all 4 meeting against the Marlins this year and the teams play the middle game of a 3 game set at Fenway. Boston opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st on an RBI single by Adrian Gonzalez who continues to swing a hot stick and the Sox had a 1-0 lead after 1 inning. Felix Doubront had a rough 2nd inning as Ginacarlo Stanton led off the top of the 2nd with a double and he came into score on an RBI single by Logan Morrsion to tie the game at 1-1. The Marlins would load the bases with one out in the inning for Greg Dobbs who got the start at DH in the AL park and he drew 7 pitch walk to force in a run to make it 2-1. Jose Reyes followed with a single to score two runs and make it 4-1. Hanley Ramirez added an RBI double with two outs to make it 5-1 as the Marlins have batted around in the inning. Doubront issued an intentional walk to Stanton with 1st base open and Logan Morrison followed with a single to CF to score two more runs making it 7-1 and knocking Doubront out of the game. Andrew Miller came in to get the final out and mercifully bring the inning to an end after the Marlins pushed across 7 runs. Ryan Sweeney took a slider from Zambrano deep for a solo HR down the RF line in the bottom of the 2nd to make it 7-2. The Marlins had runners at the corners with one out in the top of the 5th but Miller would get back to back pop ups to get out of trouble and keep the score 7-2. Miller was doing an amazing job out of the pen as he and Zambrano were putting up a string of matching zeroes on the mound and we would go to the 7th inning with Miami leading 7-2. Miller got Gaby Sanchez to hit into an inning ending 5-4-3 double play in the top of the 7th. David Ortiz led off the bottom of the 7th with a 427 foot solo HR to CF to cut the Miami lead to 7-3. Miller pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 8th as he gave the Sox 6.1 innings of scoreless relief to keep his team in the game. The Red Sox had runners at the corners with one out in the bottom of the 8th for Adrian Gonzalez and that would force Ozzie Guillen to remove Zambrano and bring in Randy Choate. Gonzalez would hit a sac fly to CF to pull the Red Sox within three runs at 7-4. David Ortiz was up next and he took an outside fastball from Choate over the green monster for his 2nd HR of the game to make it a one run game at 7-6. Choate would get Youkilis to ground out to end the inning and we would go to the 9th inning with the Marlins holding on to a 7-6 lead as the Red Sox have stormed back from a 7-1 deficit. The Marlins went down quietly in the top of the 9th against Matt Albers and the Red Sox would try to complete the comeback as we would head to the bottom of the 9th. Miami closer Heath Bell would make his way in looking to close it out and pickup his 20th save of the season. Jarrod Saltalamacchia was robbed of a leadoff single as Infante made a specatcular play up the middle for the 1st out. Bell would strike out Cody Ross for the 2nd out and the Sox were down to their final out. Ryan Sweeney got a good piece of a fastball but it wasn't deep enough as Stanton made the catch in front of the warning track for the final out and the Marlins win 7-6......THIS WAS A GREAT GAME!!!

                        * The Marlins used a 7 run 2nd inning to get the win as the teams have split the 1st two games of this series and will play the rubbber match tomorrow as Daisuke Matsuzaka and Ricky Nolasco are set to take the mound.

                        * Felix Doubront had a rough night as he couldn't last two innings after he gave up 7 runs in the top of the 2nd.

                        * Andrew Miller gave the Red Sox a heroic performance out of the pen throwing 6.1 innings of shutout ball to save the bullpen and allowed just two hits.

                        * Adrian Gonzalez continues to produce as he picked up a single, a sac fly and added two more RBI to his AL leading total of 58

                        * Logan Morrison was 4 for 4 with 3 RBI to pace the Miami offense.

                            Hey TNK,
when u say u can just sim the cpu vs cpu with ur sliders, is it as easy as just setting the season with 30 control teams...... the issue i have is i only wanna control my team i don't want to read all the teams e-mails and roster updates for all the teams, i just wanna have the slider settings the same as with default sliders the cpu vs cpu always generate more runs more often if that makes sense
                            thanks for your help

Just load the sliders every time you turn the game on and you'll be all set then

Without 30 team control (Don't read the emails whether you have it on or not) the CPU will make idiotic trades....it's really no extra work at all....again, read the threads on the topic by using the search feature

                                A) Don't use Power Swing
                                B) Use Normal Swing 99% of the time
                                C) It's not the sliders - you need to practice and get better.....sorry that you can't just purchase the game, plug these sliders in and flat out rake
-__- Whoa whoa testy. I was just wondering if there should be concern for putting the "perfect" swing on the ball with power hitters and the power swing and hitting a bunch of grounders on them.

Why shouldn't you use power swings in hitter's counts? Does it rob you that much of contact potential? When is the "1%" you try to use it?
