Re: TNK - 2013 REALISM SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE

Game #6 of the Season - Boston Red Sox @ Toronto Blue Jays

Pitching Matchup - Jon Lester vs. R.A. Dickey

Jon Lester and R.A. Dickey square off in a battle of aces as the Sox and Jays play the rubber match of this 3 game series after splitting the 1st two games. Both teams will be looking for strong performances from their starting pitchers after the bullpens were taxed in yesterdays epic extra inning game

    * The Red Sox went right to work in the top of the 1st inning as Ellsbury singled to lead off the game and stole 2nd base. Shane Victorino bunted for a single to setup runners at the corners for Dustin Pedroia with nobody out. Victorino stole 2nd base after several pick off attempts by Dickey but Victorino guessed right and ran on a knuckler to moveinto scoring position. Pedroia hit a sac fly to LF to pick up an RBI as Ellsbury scored and Victorino moved up to 3rd base with 1 out. Mike Napoli followed with a sac fly to RF to bring in Victorino and make it 2-0.

    * Lester pitched out of trouble in the bottom of the 1st but needed 23 pitches to do so as he recorded the 1st two outs before Jose Bautista singled and Will Middlebrooks booted a grounder from Encarnacion to give the Jays two men on base. Brett Lawrie grounded out to end the inning and the Red Sox had a 2-0 lead after 1 inning.

    * Boston added a run in the top of the 2nd as Daniel Nava doubled to start the inning and came in on a ground out by Jackie Bradley to make it a 3-0 game.

    * Ellsbury doubled to begin the top of the 3rd and Mike Napoli picked up his 2nd RBI of the game as he drove in Ellsbury with a single to LF to make it 4-0 as the Red Sox were not being fooled by the knuckle ball at all.

    * The Blue Jays caught a break in the bottom of the 3rd as Jose Bautista hit a 2-run HR down the LF line that was clearly foul by an inch or two but the umpires blew the call and didn't even review the play as the Red Sox get screwed. Bautista now has 3 HR in the series and we have ourselves a 4-2 ball game and the Red Sox may need to consider pitching around him as he is red hot. Edwin Encarnacion singled and Brett Lawrie doubled as the blown call for a HR seems to have Lester rattled and the Blue Jays are threatening to tie the game up. Colby Rasmus was up next and he singled up the middle to drive in 2 runs and tie the game up at 4-4. Lester would get the final two outs to end the inning as the Jays send 8 men to the plate and storm back with 4 runs to tie the game at 4-4 after 3 innings.

    * The Red Sox took the lead right back in the top of the 4th as Nava singled to lead it off and Jarrod Saltalamacchia crushed a knuckle ball for a 2-run HR to CF to put Boston back on top 6-4.

    * Jose Reyes doubled with 1 out in the bottom of the 4th. Bonifacio flew out to bring up Bautista with 2 outs and 1st base open and the Sox chose to issue an intentional walk to the red hot Jays slugger. The move paid off as Lester got Encarnacion to fly out to Victorino in shallow RF to end the inning and send the game to the 5th with Boston leading 6-4.

    * The Jays had runners at the corners with nobody out in the bottom of the 5th after singles by Lawrie and Rasmus. JP Arencibia hit a groundball in the hole but Jose Iglesias made a great play to field the ball on the run and start he 6-4-3 double play for 2 huge outs but Lawrie would come in to score and cut the Sox lead to 6-5. Lester got Maicer Izturis to fly out to end the inning and Boston had a 6-5 lead after 5 innings.

    * Brett Cecil took over on the mound for the Blue Jays and pitched a 1-2-3 inning. Lester remained in the game for the bottom of the 6th and got a much needed 1-2-3 inning as Lester has shown a lot of guts and battled his way through 6 innings on the mound and got his team to the 7th inning with a 6-5 lead.

    * Cecil pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 7th to keep it a 1 run game.

    * Lester was at 90 pitches thrown through 6 innings and remained in the game to start the bottom of the 7th as John Farrell hoped to squeeze 1 more inning out of his ace. Lester got a huge out to begin the inning as Jose Bautista chopped a cutter back to the mound for the 1st out. Edwin Encarnacion swung at the 1st pitch he saw and popped up to Middlebrooks at 3rd for the 2nd out. Brett Lawrie worked a full count and Lester got him to ground out to Iglesias at SS to end the inning and finish off the night for Lester as he throws exactly 100 pitches over 7 tough innings on the mound and the game would go to the 8th inning with the Red Sox clinging to a 6-5 lead.

    * Brett Cecil pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 8th as he has silenced the Red Sox bats with 3 hit-less innings since coming in to relieve RA Dickey

    * Andrew Bailey relieved Lester to begin the bottom of the 8th and Colby Rasmus welcomed him with a wall ball double to lead off the inning. Rajai Davis pinch ran for Rasmus and Melky Cabrera would pinch hit for Arencibia. Cabrera would ground to Pedroia at 2nd base and his throw pulled Napoli off the bag to give the Jays runners at the corners with nobody out. Maicer Izturis hit a slow roller to Napoli at 1st base and his only play was at 1st for the out as Rasmus scored to tie the game at 6-6. Adam Lind would pinch hit for Mark DeRosa with Cabrera at 2nd base and one out and Bailey got a huge strikeout of Lind for the 2nd out of the inning. The Red Sox elected to walk Jose Reyes and deal with Emilio Bonifacio and take a huge risk with Jose Bautista waiting on deck. Bonifacio and Bailey had an 8 pitch battle and the count was full but Bailey would get a huge swinging strikeout on a 96 mph fastball at the letters to get out of the jam and send the game to the 9th inning tied 6-6

    * Will Middlebrooks singled to lead off the top of the 9th and Daniel Nava followed with a single to give the Red Sox 2 men on with nobody out as Boston finally put some pressure on Cecil who had been un-hittable in relief to this point. Jarrod Saltalamacchia laid down a perfect sac bunt to move the runners into scoring position with one out. Jackie Bradley was up next and he executed a perfect safety squeeze as Middlebrooks beat the throw to the plate and Bradley was safe at 1st to give the Red Sox a 7-6 lead and knock Cecil out of the game as the Jays turned to Darren Oliver with runners on the corners and 1 out. Jose Iglesias was up next and he hit a chopper to the right of the mound and Oliver's only play was to go to 1st for the 2nd out of the inning as Nava scampered home with a big insurance run to make it 8-6. Oliver uncorked a wild pitch allowing Bradley to move up to 3rd base with Ellsbury at the plate and 2 outs. Ellsbury smoked a ball up the middle but he was retired on a great defensive play as Izturis ranged to his right and his off balance throw just beat Ellsbury to the bag at 1st base to save a run and end the inning as we would go to the bottom of the 9th with the Red Sox leading 8-6.

    * The Red Sox would turn to their closer Joel Hanrahan who would have a chance to redeem himself after he blew the save in yesterdays ball game. The Jays would be sending the heart of their order to the plate in the bottom of the 9th needing 2 runs to tie the game. Hanrahan dodged a huge bullet right away as he started the inning by getting Jose Bautista to chase a slider out of the zone for a big strikeout for the 1st out. Edwin Encarnacion was up next and Hanrahan froze him with a slider for the 2nd out after showing him a 99 mph fastball on the previous pitch. Brett Lawrie came up as the Jays were down to their final out and Hanrahan picked up the save as he capped off a dominant 9th inning by getting Lawrie to ground out to Pedroia for the final out as the Red Sox win 8-6.

The Red Sox and Blue Jays treated the fans to a thriller for the 2nd straight night as Boston scores 2 runs in the top of the 9th after Toronto had battled back to tie the game in the bottom of the 8th. Red Sox closer Joel Hanrahan slammed the door in the bottom of the 9th to record the save.

The Red Sox are off to a successful start as they go 5-1 on their season opening 6 game road trip by sweeping the Yankees in New York and taking 2 out of 3 in an exciting series against the Blue Jays in Toronto.

The Red Sox will now head to Boston for their home opener at Fenway Park against the Baltimore Orioles. Clay Buchholz will get the ball for Boston and he will be opposed by Wei-Yin Chen for Baltimore

I adjusted the sliders to your settings and I STILL can't land any home runs or good hits. I've played ten games and I've lost every single game. I'll get about 3 walks per game but only 4 hits, all of them being singles. What am I doing wrong?

Plate patience. Don't swing till the pitcher throws their first strike. You have to wear them down and get favorable counts to get hits and HR's. I just went through a 16 inning game against the Yanks where I had only 4 hits. Finally hit a HR and got the win.

Another thing, are you always playing against the Aces of the staff. Generally in exhibition games players never change the pitchers to face the 3-4-5 starters. If MLB players had to face Aces everyday, I bet ther averages would be a lot lower.

I'm using 'Timing' with guess 1/4 pitch.

Considering this is taking place in my Franchise, I'm always facing a different pitcher, whether it be a staff ace or a fourth spot starter.

Do yourself a favor, stop using guess pitch since it does nothing buy hurt you for guessing wrong. On top of that, you'll find that you hit better and focus more when you're not guessing. Also, like they said above, patience is key. Take a strike, get to a favorable 2-0 or 2-1 count and look for a pitch in the zone that you can drive.

Thanks. I'll give this a try.

Do I need to make any slider changes if I use these with Pulse Pitching?

Great sliders, definitely improved game variety and walks. the only issue i've been having is recording strikeouts. I'm probably not the best at pitching but when I played on all-star with the base sliders I was able to get 6-10 Ks a game. Now I'm lucky to get 2. I play as the Nats so it's a high K team also. Any idea of what I can do to increase strikeouts? I get a lot of swing and misses with 0 or 1 strikes, just not when it counts.

I usually throw a slider first. 2 Seam FB down. Then if its a 0-2 count FB up and in. FB up and in has always been my strikeout pitch. I'll throw that no matter how many balls. You can also change the slider to a slurve if the pitcher doesnt have a a slider. Just try to avoid throwing the FB till you wan to strike them out. And dont miss your spot.

So I have been through a few different sets of sliders, but am struggling scoring runs. I have read that the custom camera angle helps quite a bit, but I am really struggling to do it.

I can get it where it looks correct except for the pitcher looks way closer than in the example picture. Has anyone else encountered this and if so how did they fix it?
