The brand new league thing is even better with this roster where there are no prior simmed stats.

I still have 15 custom teams to make but I do also plan to start with a fantasy draft for my 30 team rebrand franchise when I get it started.

I’m glad to hear people are enjoying the roster !

Also RedKing, what is it you want to see different about secondary positions ?

Honestly I just found that most of the infielders are all set to be able to play all of the INF as secondary positions. So every 2B could play 3B, SS and 1B etc. Outfielders were great as far as I could tell nothing to change there. It's not even really a big deal at all and something I'm happy to edit myself!

I’ll definitely take a look for when I create v2.0.

It was jkarp86 who created all the original players so pitch mixes and positions wasn’t anything I touched at all. I kept whatever he had and just reduced roster ratings and added service time and contracts. I never even noticed the secondaries to be honest!

But those are both good observations that would make the roster better I think so thanks for the suggestions.

          Re: O/S Collab Fictional Roster

Just putting this here so if you people do want these changes they can wait to start their franchise for a couple days …

COMING SOON: O/S Collab Fictional Roster V2.0

Expected release date: Somewhere between Monday, April 14 and Tuesday, April 15.

What’s changing: Roster will be mostly the same, and v1.0 is still very useable. V2.0 will include edits to pitch mixes - adding in some pitcher’s whose primary pitches are sinkers, splitters, cutters etc instead of most all being 4 seam fastball. Also mixing in some of the other pitch types. Also reducing relievers who have 4 or 5 pitches. Also adjusting secondary positions for infielders so fewer players can play all infield positions. Also may make some minor potential edits for minor leaguers. Thank you to RedKing19 for these suggestions!

I’ll update in thread and main post when V2.0 is live !

              Re: O/S Collab Fictional Roster

VERSION 2.0 IS NOW LIVE ON THE VAULT!

Vault name: O/S Collab Fictional Roster V2.0
              Vault username: ripwalk

              Changes from V 1.0:

              - Adjusted the pitch mixes for a large number of SP's and RPs. Too many had similar mixes, or 4-seam fastball as their number one pitch. Both in the majors and minors the roster now has sinkerballers, cutters, splitters, sliders, 2 seamers as main pitches, as well as a couple knuckle ballers. I've also reduced the number of relievers that had 4 or even 5 pitches and made the majority of relievers 3-pitch pitchers.

              - I also noticed (in my opinion) there seemed to be way too many left-handed SP's in the roster, as many teams had 2 or 3 lefties in their rotation. I've flipped about 10 lefties to be RHP, just to be slightly more accurate to real life. Sorry to any southpaw fans!

              - Secondary positions were adjusted for all major league rosters, as well as a lot of minor leaguers who could figure into the big league roster in subsequent years (I didn't bother adjusting for D potential players rated in the 50s, for example). Infielders all had all infield positions as their secondaries and OFers previously all had all outfield positions. I've tried to keep the roster flexibility (more positions that can be played, the better), while making it more realistic. So you'll see guys with strong arms who are set to play either 2B or SS, guys who are good utility guys can play 2B, SS, 3B, some catchers who now have 1B or LF as a secondary position, removed CF from some of the corner outfielders who are ... less talented. And other various builds to put more diversity in the secondary positions.

              - Some very small adjustments to potentials, adding in a few more B rated prospects into the minors.

Please download, rate the roster if you enjoy it, and let me know any feedback!

Kudos again to jkarp86 for all of the original work on the players, and to RedKing19 for the ideas on improving the roster with some of the changes above!

So stoked to download this and get into it tonight! Thank you so much and I’m happy I could contribute in any way to this great project.

Would love to contribute further if you guys ever make plans to make another of these rosters or even in future games!

I was going to keep rolling along with the franchise I started with the original version, but this one sounds too good to pass up. Thankfully I’m only 5 games into the season lol.

Glad you’re stoked with it. I’ve just been simming test seasons so far and jumping into random games and I’m having a blast playing with the roster and getting to start to know some of the stars….

Looking forward to getting my franchise started too after I make the rest of my 30 teams !

Great work to everyone involved! These are amazing! Got my teams all ready to go, just waiting on the CAS update to fire up this franchise. May actually do the fantasy draft and just play some spring training games to get a feel for the rosters heading into the season.

Oh, also forgot to mention another thing I did with v2.0 was go through the pitching rotations/bullpens and somewhat the lineups to adjust based on new ratings.

I had forgotten to do so after dropping the # of 90+ rated players originally so v1.0 some of the starting rotations may not have made sense with weaker SPs higher in rotation. That being said this all doesn’t matter much as rotations/lineups and bullpens get shuffled around by the AI or player when a franchise starts, but just wanted to point that out.

Only have 2 more custom teams to make before I start my franchise…

Going to do a fantasy draft to begin. If I should have one of the top 3 picks, who does everyone think are the best players on the roster for a long term franchise, factoring in age, skill and contract ?

I respect your commitment to the custom teams man, I went with the MLB teams cause I was so impatient and just wanted to get in there lol

I went with a fantasy draft but didn't make the selections myself.

I think if I was to build a team around the top pick, for position players SS Herb Dorsey and C Anderson Jones really stand out to me. Both pre-arb, 23 years old.

If you went with a starter I'd have to say Carlos Cruz at 23 years old, 89 OVR and also pre-arb.

I ended up with a fairly well-rounded team from the auto-draft, 3-2 so far. CF Keaton Ross has been awesome for me so far, but he's older at 28 and signed for only 3 years at 20.5M. Has some sneaky pop in the bat, fantastic fielder and top notch speed.

They allow rosters, stadiums and logos to carry forward and be downloaded every year… I *really* wish they would implement ability to save/share/download completely custom teams or even just uniform sets. It would save me a couple dozen hours not having to find/download logos and to remake teams every year.

But I do enjoy the process … and I love the fully fictional experience so worth it in the end for me.

Back to the question … I feel like in my sim seasons Fletcher Long has been a guy always putting up monster numbers. He’s got age on his side and already elite ratings…. But the downside being the fact he’s a 1B.

I feel like (from memory, I could be wrong), Dorsey doesn’t have the elite D I’d normally like at SS, but yeah he’s solid.
