    O/S Collab Fictional Roster

    April 14th update:
VERSION 2.0 IS NOW LIVE ON THE VAULT!

Vault name: O/S Collab Fictional Roster V2.0
    Vault username: ripwalk

    Changes from V 1.0:

    - Adjusted the pitch mixes for a large number of SP's and RPs. Too many had similar mixes, or 4-seam fastball as their number one pitch. Both in the majors and minors the roster now has sinkerballers, cutters, splitters, sliders, 2 seamers as main pitches, as well as a couple knuckle ballers. I've also reduced the number of relievers that had 4 or even 5 pitches and made the majority of relievers 3-pitch pitchers.

    - I also noticed (in my opinion) there seemed to be way too many left-handed SP's in the roster, as many teams had 2 or 3 lefties in their rotation. I've flipped about 10 lefties to be RHP, just to be slightly more accurate to real life. Sorry to any southpaw fans!

    - Secondary positions were adjusted for all major league rosters, as well as a lot of minor leaguers who could figure into the big league roster in subsequent years (I didn't bother adjusting for D potential players rated in the 50s, for example). Infielders all had all infield positions as their secondaries and OFers previously all had all outfield positions. I've tried to keep the roster flexibility (more positions that can be played, the better), while making it more realistic. So you'll see guys with strong arms who are set to play either 2B or SS, guys who are good utility guys can play 2B, SS, 3B, some catchers who now have 1B or LF as a secondary position, removed CF from some of the corner outfielders who are ... less talented. And other various builds to put more diversity in the secondary positions.

    - Some very small adjustments to potentials, adding in a few more B rated prospects into the minors.

Please download, rate the roster if you enjoy it, and let me know any feedback!

Kudos again to jkarp86 for all of the original work on the players, and to RedKing19 for the ideas on improving the roster with some of the changes above!

VAULT ROSTER NAME: O/S Collab Fictional Roster V1.0
    Vault USER ID: ripwalk

    Hi all,

Myself and jkarp86 (details below in 'credits' section) have released a completely fictional roster for use in MLB The Show 25.

    What's included:

    - Entire league from MLB to minors is auto generated players (with edits made to ratings, equipment, deliveries/stances, potential etc) whose names are announced in game.

    - Despite the league not including any pre-simmed stats, all players have contracts and service time that's appropriate to their age (ie. a 23 year old would either be a rookie or just have a couple years service, so will still run through arbitration etc).

    - Team payrolls in the beginning range from $68 million to $208, so there's teams that are both big market loaded with stars and smaller payroll in the default setup.

    Things to know:

    - In my test seasons, I've noticed the AI doesn't seem to do a very good job of extending their star players, so especially in the first few seasons, free agency is littered with stars. Feel free to use 30-team control to remedy this yourself if you wish. I'm inclined to believe this is more an issue of the game AI itself as opposed to anything to do with the roster.

    - Similarly, you may also see the season begin with several talented players still sitting in free agency. Not a huge deal, as often the very best players do end up signing eventually, and most of the players who don't get signed are older, but something to keep in mind.

    - Jkarp86 set the SP's in the game to have very high stamina across the board. I adjusted this slightly but overall it doesn't bother me too much. That being said if you sim with the base roster you will notice more 200+ IP pitchers and more complete games than you would with the base roster/real life MLB.

    - However, those of us who enjoy fictional are hopefully not too worried about exactly emulating reality. From my tests seasons I'm happy with the results this roster produces, and it's cool to me to have no previously simulated stats, so everything you generate in game will be your own doing.

    - From what I've tested this league seems to work fine with a fantasy draft or just leaving the base rosters in as they exist.

    - The starting contracts for everyone are a little lower than they may normally be, and I only used a maximum of 5 year contracts for the base roster, as I didn't want anyone to have to inherit a team where someone was already locked up for 8 to 9 years. All teams should have pretty good financial flexibility when the league starts, and over time you will see budgets and payrolls increase as stars hit free agency and start getting the huge $30 million+ AAV deals over 8 or 9 years.

    Credits:

    - jkarp86 did all the work to generate these players. He also adjusted the player's deliveries/batting stances, equipment, etc. The roster looks and feels great, so kudos to him!

    - Myself (ripwalk) took the base roster and removed all the minor leaguers making $45-million, and added realistic service time and contracts to the entire league. I also adjusted player ratings globally across the board, as the original roster had (in my opinion) way too many players rated 85 and higher. The league now features only about 40ish players rated 90 and up, and a wider range of skills at the ML level, from those in the high 60s and more players rated in the 70s.

    - I did note this is "v 1.0" of the roster. I'm not sure if I intend to change anything and re-release, but since I've listed it as an O/S collab, I welcome anyone to adjust anything they choose and re-release if you see fit.

Feedback is welcome! I hope people can get some fun fictional action out of this roster!

Awesome!! Been waiting for a good fictional roster to come out. Now time to add my friends and I and do a fantasy draft and finally get my main franchise rolling! Appreciate the work you guys did.

Awesome! For those who have tried these out are the teams overall pretty similar across the board or is there some Dodgers type teams and some Marlins types?

There's definitely stronger and weaker teams, much like real life.

For example Dodgers are rated #1 on this roster too and they are 1st in overall, contact, pitching and speed, 9th in power and 17th in defence.

On the flipside, Miami is last overall. They have middle of the pack defence and 28th, 29th or 30th in everything else.

There's a lot of other teams that are pretty much league average at a lot of things, or very good at a couple things but not so good at others. It's a good balance.

But the beauty of a roster like this (in my opinion), is breaking away from traditional beliefs of baseball/MLB and just making the world your own.

I downloaded it last night and started a Franchise with the Giants. I had a huge game with 1B Ricky Irving, 2 homers and 4 RBI on Opening Day.

                  Very cool guys.

I will be doing a total rebrand franchise with these later on this cycle. I always wanted to do a fictional rebrand and this will definitely satisfy that itch!

Just downloaded this last night and I have to say it is very well done. Thank you very much! Been struggling to find motivation to start a real franchise because of the lack of roster updates (and tbh I found a lot of things I would have had to fix about the FTF roster set this year)

I will say, one thing I am going to go through and do is update some pitch mixes, because I found that every pitcher all throw a 4SFB as their main pitch. Just want to add in some sinkerballers, some guys who throw only breaking balls, etc. Might even make a knuckleballer or two for fun lol

Having a blast so far, going to make this into my own personal baseball universe and do a separate more realistic franchise once we have a decent roster update. Thanks again guys!!

Absolutely as long as that's approved by the original creators! Going to get that done next week as I'm not home over the weekend and don't have my console with me but I should be able to grind it out in an evening or so. I'll probably also add some variety to secondary positions

That’s actually a pretty good idea…there probably could be more variation.

I find editing the roster actually kind of fun and I can likely do it this weekend or on Monday at latest and I’ll release a v 2.0 with these changes.

If anyone has any other feedback of things they think could be better with the roster let me know and I can include it in V 2.0 !

I find it fun too, I used to help work on the hybrid roster project back a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Been away from the game for a long time but came back to it last year and bought 25 day one. Been having a blast.

This is my first venture into fictional rosters and I'm thoroughly enjoying myself.

Pitch mixes and secondary positions were the only things I was going to fiddle with but that would be fantastic and very much appreciated

Fantasy drafts are also a ton of fun with Fictional Rosters. Truly like your starting a brand new league.
