Re: Official 1995-1998 Classic Roster Project

Alright boys, so far I have the Orioles, Indians, Yankees, and Braves done.

Today is Tuesday (bicep day) so I'm going to head out and do some curls for the girls, but when I'm done I will finish the rest of Boston up and get a good chunk of another team done.

If anyone wants a 6 team preview uploaded, let me know and I may do it.

I'm also looking at either the Angels or the Rockies for my next team, so if you have a preference for the preview file, let's hear it.

        Sounds good buddy.

That OF they had in 96 was so filthy. Chili, Salmon, Edmonds, and a young Garrett Anderson/Darin Erstad combo is as good as it was going to get.

Should be a fun team to create.

Back then there were my pick to take down the Yankees, i screamed it, over n over i couldn't believe how that year turned out, they Yankees were so posed and strong though, i can see how legendary! think of all the hall of fame players played in 96 or will be one day hall of fame players, this roster is huge with tons n tons of potential! heck the whole deal really 95- 98 was so epic in baseball.

Agree 100% with everything you said. The mixture of legends, up and coming legends, has beens, rising stars, etc... in this set is awe inspiring and a big reason why I love these years.

This is true (and probably why 1996 saw an MLB record for HR's hit) but you have to remember something - Most of us were kids at this time.

Now I can't speak for everyone, but when I was 12 I wasn't thinking of roids or PED's ruining the game. I was instead watching Sportscenter or games and seeing all these guys hit the long ball, which is the sexiest play in sports. As a kid there were so many "sluggers" or just one/two year wonders having these insane power numbers. I thought it was cool as hell.

And even with all that cheating, there was still so, so many solid pitchers to marvel at as well.

Mix in the absurd HR numbers, legendary pitchers, and the nostalgia factor, and it should make these rosters a better experience for you.

I'm hoping there were less HR's hi in 1997 so the pitching HR ratings and the hitting HR ratings can be raised and lowered. In 1996 many guys gave up an average of 2.1 or more HR's per 9, so I'm just rating them as they were.

its actually been statically proven that PED's do NOT increase performance per player on a year by year basis so that argument is null imo

Man, I feel for the Boston fans in the 96 set.

The bullpen that year was terrible... I think Slocumb may be the only good reliever they had. Maybe Mike Stanton as well, but he had a pretty rough year and tops off at a 71 overall. Rich Garces was okay too I guess seeing his K rating is a 99, but his BB rating is like a 22... (6.8 BB per 9)

Of course there is still Clemens, Canseco, Mo Vaughn, and Reggie Jefferson who batted something like .347 that year to have fun with.

                  But that bullpen... Yuck!

EDIT: If you guys can set the table for Vaughn and Canseco, you are in for a treat. Those two are so imposing and deadly in the batters box on here. Really a lot of fun to use.

My god did Mo Vaughn just hit a shot.

Had it all - Bat flip, opposite field, man on base, you name it.

Canseco comes up next on a 3-1 count and puts one deep into center on the warning track.

Will try to finish up the Angels by tomorrow night if I get time later so I can put up a little preview.

I'm going to finish up another team (most likely Minnesota since it's almost done) and then probably throw one in the vault.

It should include Baltimore, New York (AL) Boston, California, Minnesota, Cleveland, and Atlanta.

Might have it up tomorrow night depending on the weather.
