Re: Mo's CAPS
The year SCEA adds the player to the roster via a roster update he is just a CAP just like one you would've made yourself. However SCEA CAPs have a player ID assigned to them that then follows them moving forward in future versions of the series. So SCEA creates a CAP year one and then assigns same ID to that payer the following year and thereafter. This allows for both the CAP and the real player to be recognized as the same player when franchises are carried over.
So adding a name now will not harm anything, since the player literally doesn't exist anywhere else. But next year, if you import SCEA CAP over a real player and mess with the names it will treat it as a new player ID and basically treat it as a user created CAP and not an SCEA player.Last edited by El_MaYiMbE; 05-17-2017, 02:20 PM.Comment

Re: Mo's CAPS
If I understand correctly this will only matter if you would like to import that player next year over a player that ships with MLB 18.

Gotcha, thanks! I do wish SCEA would add commentary to the players they add each week...absolutely hate having to go through an do that!Comment

Re: Mo's CAPS
Hey guys,
Getting my rosters all set up to start my franchise and started looking around for and Otani CAP. There are plenty in the Vault, but I am wondering why everyone is importing CAP over the players that are already in the game?
Obviously the CAPs look a lot better (e.g. Contrares, Moncoda,Torres) but when you import over, you lose the correct stats and maybe the ratings depending on which roster you are importing to?
Is this correct, or any I doing something wrong? Contreras' stats are definitely off...Comment

Need small clarification on your last paragraph. We can add audio to SCEA players right now and it will still be recognize next year (storylines etc.) for MLB18? I thought a previous post said if you add the audio to a SCEA player this year it will not be recognized as a SCEA player for next year gameComment

So if you add let's say Ian Happ's name it won't do anything this year specifically, since even SCEA would need to use the audio sounds available. However, when you import him next year, the name audio should be blank or it will not recognize him as the same player that shipped with the game.
And that's only if you import over MLB 18's Ian Happ altogether. If he looks good next year you won't need to import him.

Re: Mo's CAPS
Adding audio to a SCEA CAP who debuted in MLB 17 will not do anything as I don't believe CAPs have story lines and the names called out for them the year they debut are the same ones used for player made CAPs.

Re: Mo's CAPS
I am like 99% sure the answer to your question is yes. Unless the game somehow knows you added audio and then deleted it.
The way to test it would be to download someone like Odor or Gary Sanchez, add their audio, save roster, play a game, then go back and delete audio, save, and play another game...and see if their SCEA audio returns.Comment
