Re: 1987 Full 90 Man Roster
Yes...complete 90 man full minors. This set was created on MLB 11 and I can tell you from playing 3 full years in franchise with that set it is truly incredible.
The key to playing franchise with this set is 30 team control. Figure out which team or teams you want to run personally. Then for the rest create a second profile (you may already know all this) and name it CPU Franchise and set everything to auto. However the only catch is every day in the season take 5 minutes to check the transaction log of every team. It's simple.
Go to the transaction page, scroll to pending trades and hold down R2 and zip through each team. If you see a trade pending stop (or go back to it since the pages are flying) and look it over and make sure it is a good fair trade. If so leave it alone for the team to accept or decline. If you do not want that trade to go through reject it (go to the team it was offered to because you may be reading the page of the team that offered it).
As long as you just monitor trades your good to go. I had been running some test sims of the set and saw a lot of whacked trades so you must do that to keep the integrity of the league.
I plan on playing a massive long term franchise with this set which I will carry over year to year.
Also everyone should set up a master franchise file where you don't start spring training. Just set up the franchise, and when MLB 15 comes out upload that "master" file to cloud and then download it to MLB 15 and then you have that master file to start a brand new franchise anytime you want on 15. Never overwrite that save file and log the date of the file in a notebook so you know that franchise file is your master 1987 roster file.
Then carry that master roster/franchise file to MLB 16 etc etc. You will always have this (and any other roster for that matter) for future versions.
Every other classic roster is suitable for one season replays so I do a master season save file for all the other ones (1996,97,98,1984,1988,1990,91,92) and on the season replays there are 2 caveats.
1. CPU Season profile I have everything set to auto except 40 man roster control and player signings
2. I use CPU roster control so no injuries in my season replay
Why?
Because on those 25 man rosters (with limited minor leaguers) most of the free agents are current players. You don't want the CPU signing current players in a classic season replay. By having the CPU profile set to manual on 40 man roster and roster moves (player signings) and no injuries you will never have to worry about it.
Ok...out of breath. Enjoy this incredible set when it comes out. It is no doubt one of the huge highlights of this great game. And I can't thank these guys enough. We are playing sports video games in the greatest of times folks.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 01-02-2015, 02:10 AM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: 1987 Full 90 Man Roster
I'm getting very excited for this roster set! The late 80's/early 90's is right in my wheelhouse as that was my early teens, but I didn't play the first iteration of this set much as I'd created a 25 man set for '86 (MLB '10) and played thru that season. This morning I was sifting through each team's minors for '87 trying to decide who I want to use. With Atlanta being the closest team to me, I have great memories of my Mom and I staying up late every year during their run in the early 90's cheering them on. I may just have to go with them and try to turn then around quicker. They had some great talent in the minors in '87! Then I look at the Cubs and some of their prospects - wow, did they have some great guys too! What to do, what to do.
Anyone else have in mind who they'll be using?Comment

I am wrangling a little but pretty sure I am going with my Yankees. I am determined to get Don Mattingly a World Series title. This 87 team has enough talent to actually win it in year 1 and maybe year 2. But doing some good team building will be key for the years beyond and they have some good talent but I will need to draft and make some key free agent and trade acquisitions.
However I am also looking hard at The Royals, Blue Jays and the Oakland A's.
I am going to use 30 team control and commish all trades to keep the league balanced. Since I am using 30 team control I can always move on to a different team after 3 seasons. I think what I will do is give myself 3 year contracts as an imaginary GM and go from there.
Needless to say I can't wait for this incredible roster set. And love the fact we will be able to carry it on for years in future versions. Also don't forget to make a master franchise file to carry over year to year so you can always start a brand new franchise whenever you want. Now Playing on PS5:
