    Re: 2015 Chicago Cubs

You accrue service time and it is a huge factor when dealing with arbitration and salaries so they would not mess with what a player has already accrued. it would screw over players that signed an extension as those contracts were negotiated under the assumption that 172 days equals one year and all of a sudden give leverage to a bunch of players. Too messy and teams would never go for that. If they did it would be for some other concession the MLBPA has to make to level out that cost.

If that happens they will put wording in that basically reads that all previously accrued service time before Jan 1, 2016 (or whenever) remains untouched and only days of MLB service time accrued after Jan 1, 2016 will be counted under the current contract.

I haven't seen anyone include Junior Lake on their bench. Are most people sending him down? I thought he looked pretty good his first year and has looked better this spring. Also, any idea what he is rated this year?

I'd say lake's right on the fringe. With denorfias injury he could make the cut. I do like the adjustments he's made. He's definitely taken a big step forward in the off-season. I just don't know if he has a place with the Cubs long-term.

I still find Lake to be a valuable 4-5th outfielder. Speed, some power and if he can hit lefties enough you could justify him getting some platoon starts. But I don't really see that happening unless Denorfia is out for an extended period.

Don't sleep on Szczur making the team and Lake being left out. Neither are great hitters but Szczur has the advantage in speed and defense. Lake obviously has the edge in MLB experience however.

Szczur had a great start to spring training but has cooled off a bit. I just don't see him as having any kind of significant impact in the majors. I think he'll always be one of those fringy, AAAA players.

Yeah I seen that and not a surprise Russell was also sent down. Bryant will be up real soon. We will have to wait and see if Baez can learn to cut down on the K's

It's not so much the k's as it is the chasing bad pitches. Bryant is expected to k nearly as often as baez but the difference is Bryant won't get himself out by going out of the zone.

So since the mlbpa thinks they have the right to tell the Cubs what to do with a non-member does that mean scea can include Bryant now? Lol jk

Nothing, their faces in game just don't look that great. This way people can use OSFM created faces, but have the correct service time and stats from last year. All that will be missing is their portraits and maybe player specific stuff like commentary. I had to to the same with Adron Chambers since he isn't in the game, but has service time.

Same thing with McCutchen. People want a version without his dreads since he cut them in real life so someone made a version with similar stats and service time. Just with Baez and Soler it was easy to get their service time and stats perfect.

edit: Following the wrigleyrenovation twitter account is pretty depressing knowing the LF video board won't be in the game. Will be such a contrast to see the stadium in real life and then in game.

OK, with the game coming out and the deadline for OSFM roster submissions not far way I'm going to ask everyone's final thoughts on who should make the 90 man roster.

It is a bit difficult to nail down so there will be reserves since we want AAA to be 100% accurate. Opening day for Iowa isn't until April 9th so their roster won't be official until after I turn in the roster, but most of the roster spots are pretty much locked at this point.

Anyways, keep in mind that AAA needs to be as close to 100% as possible, so for example if Yoanner Negrin is on the AAA roster he will be in OSFM. I've looked at past posts and kept in mind the prospects that you guys want to see and will try to weigh them. As of now I have around 110 prospects as the OSFM guys asked us to create extra for update purposes later on.

I will try to get all Baseball America and MLB.com top 30-31 prospects in the game, but if they project to be in the lower minors they may not make the cut, but if space permits they'll all be on.

Also someone is working on the Cubs faces so I'll try and post up a few previews. I think they look pretty good so far.

These guys were in AAA last season and expect to be there again. I didn't see their names on the spreadsheet for the OSFM/Hybrid rosters. Let me know if you need scouting reports on these players.

Here is my list for you. I have it down to 101 players (26 MLB, AAA, & AA, and 23 A). I know that it is 25 man rosters at every level except A, but in trying to account for Jacob Turner and Logan Watkins injuries, I just decided to give each level 13 Pitcher and 13 Position Players and let you decide from there. I have included all players currently on the MLB roster and AAA roster according to your instructions.

                                MLB:
                                SP Jon Lester

-I think AAA is currently listing too many pitchers, especially relievers that don't "need" to be in the game, but that is just my opinion.
-We should probably carry one extra catcher on the roster than the 6 or 7 planned to account for the imminent trade of Wellington Castillo.
-Will you be releasing a "Cubs Extras" set like you did last year after the OSFM releases?

Thanks for the hard work, hope this helps.
