Re: Mariners OSFM Episode XV: Return of the Mediocre Farm System
Man its been a while since I updated this... Here are some preliminary grades and comments, all subject to change of course (especially after seeing overall distribution in the last stream):
Alex Jackson ~86-87
something like .280 with ~25 HR's is good for now, the bat has the potential to make him a fast mover and 30-35 HR's certainly isn't out of the question.
DJ Peterson ~84-85
Also has big power, probably closer to .265-.270 though. Destined for first base, but the bat should be good enough to play there .
Austin Wilson ~84-85
I am a big believer, potential impact RF'er. Even though he was a college guy, he was exceptionally raw and needed an overhaul to his swing and approach, which seems to be working. Just needs to avoid injuries, which have been a bit of an issue.
Luiz Gohara ~83-84
Terrible year statistically, but had plenty of things going on behind the scenes so he gets a mulligan. Lefties that can hit mid 90's will always get a shot, also have to remember that he is only 18.
Edwin Diaz ~82-83
Low to mid 90's and still projectable, good movement on the fastball and a feel for pitching. Secondaries are average/fringe-average, but if he can continue to improve those I see a strong #3.
Gabby Guerrero ~82-83
Resembles uncle Vlad in almost every way, but the hit tool is not quite the same. Needs to clean up his approach to reach his high ceiling.
Patrick Kivlehan ~80-81
Just needed the ABs to prove he belongs, I can see ~.265-.270 with 15-20 HR's.
*Danny Hultzen
Still a wildcard. If he truly has his velocity back like in his outing today, he's back to that #3/#2 projection and somewhere in the high 80's.

Re: Mariners OSFM Episode XV: Return of the Mediocre Farm System
I loved pitching with him. He always progressed really well in my franchises, I normally used him out of the bullpen in long relief or a 2 inning spot. I'm going to keep him in my roster this yearComment
