Could the contracts simply be scaled down, say to 60% or whatever, but keep the values relatively accurate to each other? I'd be ok with that if the sim engine could handle it.

For some reason I thought you were originally a part of this project and defected because of disagreements but that clearly isn't the case.

I know of WaitTillNextYear's history as well and am very comfortable with each of you having a conversation without derailing any thread. I was reading it as a "disagreement between old partners" for some reason.

My sincerest apologies and please continue on as you see fit.

You can strike everything I've said from the record and I'll go hide in my corner.

To be fair, this HAS been a strange year for the roster projects here!
Indeed. If anything, I am treading even lighter than usual because of this, lol. I'm just tired of seeing threads go poof lately, but more tired of the behavior that causes it.

That said, I have no problems (or history of past problems) with threeebs and I think his thread about having a successful offseason should probably be perpetually stickied since it's one of the most informative threads in the MLBTS forum.

I think we just see this issue from different sides and wasn't getting "let's have an open-ended discussion" vibes from some of those posts. I do not want to even have the appearance of an OSFM/Hybrid "turf war" after recent events. I am not trying to convince threeebs to switch to the Hybrid and I would encourage him to download it and experiment on his own after we release it later on. I think that will quench his curiosity about the issue he is thinking about and will let him do so in a way that he isn't worried about someone being biased or untruthful.

Maybe for the good of the cause we just take a timeout on that conversation until after all rosters are released and the madness dies down?

I'd also argue that if they didn't finish a single season why would they even bother with the OSFM roster? If anything guys like me would get he most enjoyment out of this roster.

Nonetheless I love to conversation here so let me ask... Regarding the re-rates, since you guys get the players, for the most part, to resemble their true stats and mostly their OVR's are being lowered yet most have a higher potential, in future years do you see guys that continue to grow, even though in reality they have probably reached their peak, put up numbers that aren't realistic because they have grown to be better players because of their lowered OVR's and their yet to be reached potential? The reason I ask is 'cause I haven't tested this but it seems likely that this would be the case. I mean mathematically it would only make sense for this to happen. I think it would be absolutely unavoidable at a pure logic standpoint.

Please be unbiased in your response and if anyone else would like to chime in on this that would be great!

Honestly I have issue with this discussion as long as it is just that and not a slamfest on the Hybrid.

I will give as unbiased an answer as one can give seeing I created the Hybrid and have been in many cases the final decision maker on the many different ratings changes we have made over the 4 years of it's existence.

I think, I have yet to see because we haven't started entering numbers this year you will see some higher overalls than in the past - as well as a new progression system hopefully it allows for more natural growth in a player. Unfortunately there is no way of providing true player growth based on a players specific talents unless you do training yourself with all 30 teams and control it all year - the CPU tries to create all players even and balanced when they hit their potential, but supposedly with the new growth systems we will see more players fail to hit potential in the past.

With editable potentials last year we began trying to find more realistic potentials and have had some great discussions surrounding this when I was able to be in the chat room with the guys, and on the spreadsheet we had potentials very accurate and much lower this year.

Now what I have found in the past - I have gone as far as 3 years ahead (7 years once in a sim) in my franchise only once, what I saw was horrible decline from older players who probably should not see that big a drop - still not sure how to correct that because it happens with both the base and Hybrid roster.
Prospects grow for the most part on a realistic scale towards their potential, some exceeding it - which again is a real thing in baseball.
Current major league players have been tough to gauge but for the most part my experience is the grow properly unless they are over 32-33 then they decline a little too quickly or retire too young.

As for the draft pick issue, yes it is a little more of an issue with the Hybrid but it is the same issue as the base roster - too many studs are available each draft that jump to start in AAA or the bigs - for some reason in the 10 years I have been playing the show I have always found the draft is more like a NHL or NFL draft that way where baseball you are amazed if more than 1 guy gets to the bigs even within 2 years of being drafted - that said teams seem to be getting younger (except the Yankees) every year now.

Hope that is more of an answer you guys are looking for.

I believe that is basically what tbarnes and Ridin did.

I know you guys hate questions about release dates, so you'll hate me for this but.....

A guy on another baseball site said that these rosters would be done in the next couple days, which shocked me, as I was expecting the end of this month. I only came here to find out if he was just misinformed or what. I didn't see any indication on the last few pages I read.

So, my question, is this really a few days away?

No, unfortunately. We're looking at 3-4 weeks until release.

He might have been referring to the OSFM roster, which most likely release tomorrow night.

I was giving a guesstimate based off what I was told previously in another thread from a Hybrid roster maker.
