    Mods, all about busting cheaters!

McGwire MAY have found the needle. Got a nice +4 in OV in 1999 now entering 2000 as the starting 1B of the Brewers.

A-Rod is now up to 84 too.

EDIT: Dissapointed with his career high 33 homeruns despite having shot himself with pure unadulterated horse roids, Big Mac called it quits after the 2000 season, feeling he was too old for this ****. Yep, he's broken. That's a fix.

Looking at the Nationals (aka Expos) I wonder what could be done budget/salary wise. Isn't 1994 the last good year they had for quite a while due to budget issues?

Oh and I love the commentary on this.

I wonder how a RTTS would do with all the generics in the roster in lower minors. When I played RTTS as a pitcher I debuted as a 59 OVR 5th SP in AA ball at age 20.

Oh and what happened to JT Snow?

and 32 Speed vs his original 80 rating. Which, again IMO, far too high .

I set it where Brett played DH & 1B all season, had 609 AB's in 162 games.
        He hit .233 & 6 steals in 10 att.

I then simmed a season with him as a bencher & original ratings.
        He hit .225 4 steals in 6 att. (around 170 AB's)

When I simmed a season with Brett as an everyday starter & original ratings:
        He hit .257 in 604 AB's again 4 steals in 6 att.
Resimmed the last scenario & got:
Brett hit .261 in 605 AB 10 steals in 18 att.
        Resimmed again, got:
He hit .237 in 603 AB 6 steals in 10 att.
So even with too high 80 speed & too low 26 steal ability, it's possible to see good sim numbers.
Summary: Great work Phil & Knight!

What team are you putting George Brett on, and what are you using for Sliders. I think some of the Sim issues with CG's and SB and batter K's might come from my sliders and setup. I was using Armor's sliders but I chose every team at the team selection and CPU roster control. I think my issue was choosing every team at the beginning.

He's had 15 big league at-bats in the last 4 seasons... He needs a fix.

Also, Vinny Castilla. Only a starter for two seasons and a career high for HRs of 10. That's a fix.

It's funny: The Expos and the Braves are two of I think three teams in V1 that have modern economics and actual contracts. Expos 94 Payroll in modern money = 95M. Below average. The result of everybody signing one year deals, except Darrin Fletcher who chose to live here and signed long term. The Braves = 220M. Would be 1st or 2nd in the league. And yet, Expos were winning that division.

Nothing could be done back then really: the owner was broke, cheap and wanted a new stadium so bad he openly told people that Olympic Stadium was boring and not a good fit for baseball. Then he sold the 1994 players (didn't even make Larry Walker an offer. What kind of message does this send to the fans?) people stopped coming until Vlad hit his stride and then, they sold our guys again. People basically said F This and the team left. But they'll be back.

Been having a weird thing with Spike Owen constantly being one or two on the AL batting leaders. Hitting .340 or better every time. 1994 was the only year he was above .270 when he hit .310 and had an insane BB to K ratio. Dude definitely had a career year in 1994 for sure.

I do have a question about pitches. How close to real are they? I actually played a game last night and noticed most of the pitchers I used had a Slider or a Screwball (Jim Mecir) as their primary pitch. Just wondering about that. I know pitch/fx data isn't available before like 2007 or something.

Oh and Jose Rijo's motion is so hard to hit and see the ball coming out of his hands. Makes his 91 mp/h fastball look like it's 100+ LOL. He was hard to hit the first 3 innings LOL.

              Re: OS94 (MLB 15) Topic

              So, McGwire fix... (84 OV)

              Season 1: 85 OV .309, 29 HR, 105 RBI
Season 2: 88 OV, .292, 24 HR, 103 RBI (Now plays in LA)
              Season 3: 92 OV, .323, 49 HR, 115 RBI (Silver Slugger, All-Star)
Season 4: 93 OV, .279, 32 HR, 101 RBI (Won the World Series!)

Note: Sometimes, the team building AI is real dumb. At the beginning of season 5, the Dodgers have McGwire (93), Jefferies (89) and Palmeiro (89) as 1Bs.

Better but not there yet. Needs more dingers.

                Re: OS94 (MLB 15) Topic

I don't know how Knight did his research but I'd be surprised if most of the pitchers had screwballs. If they do, it's something that has to do with the 14 to 15 conversion. I wish I could export the pitch repertoires to a spreadsheet so I could check it out. But what teams had pitchers with lots of screwballers?

For the players that I created, I use multiple sources. Either other mods, previous games in the series, the book on pitchers which name I forget, or that PC baseball sim which name I forget also.

If I truly find nothing, then they get Fastball - Changeup and either Curve or Slider. A pitcher that would be so badly documented probably didn't have very fancy pitches.

I put Brett on KC, bottom of the lineup. Default sliders. Seems his SB attempts are higher when he hits over .250 & lower when he hits .220 to .235, which just stands to reason. You're gonna naturally have more attempts when you're on base more.

Going through the small sample sized list I just looked at I did notice Jim Mecir does in fact throw a screwball.

                      H. Nomo 4SM SL Cir Screw
R.Rodriguez 4SM Screw Sink SL Change
                      T.Wilson 4SM SL 2SM Fork Screw
                      J.Mecir Screw 4SM SL Split
                      S.Taylor 4SM Screw Circle Cut

I know Mecir is on this list. But Nomo threw a Fork from what I know. T.Wilson has BOTH a Fork and a Screwball, more on the Forkballs.

                      M.Yoshii 2SM Fork Curve Change
                      M.Bielecki 4SM Fork Curve Change
                      Dw.Henry 4SM SL Fork
                      S.Corbett 4SM SL Change Fork
                      B.Walk 4SM Sink SL Fork
                      J.Rijo 4SM SL Fork Change
J.Brantley Split Fork Sink SL Curve
A.Pena 4SM Change SL Fork Curve
R.Cormier Sink 4SM SL Slurve Fork

All the guys listed above have a Forkball as one of their pitches. I didn't think that the Forkball was that popular due to it majorly damaging your arm if not thrown correctly. But I could be wrong. Just noticed lots when checking a few teams. I only looked at about 5 teams starters and relievers so the data I listed is pretty Small Sample Size. It is also possible the Fork was used as a slower Splitter for similar movement or a faster straight change.

I know the old data is difficult to come by so who knows this may all be right. Except Screwballs. From what I can gather maybe 20-30 pitchers all time threw that pitch on a semi-regular basis.

Hmmm, he was batting 7th or 6th on the scrub team. I pulled all the free agents to Arizona and Tampa Bay so the team he was on was 29 or 30 ranked in the league. Other sims it looks like he has normalized to 10-15 attempts per year. So maybe it was a fluke or very possible the sliders I had WITH controlling all teams had something to do with it.

Don't have the time to look them up, but from memory, I know that Yoshii, Bielecki, Rijo and Cormier did toss the forkball.

About the low stirrups: That's something I'll do when I have a 90-man roster working well. I'll go over all the appearances and the faces and fix stuff or make it better.

114 added in so far for V2.

Problem, though. I haven't kept a list. But they're all scrubs. I think 2 of them have C potential, the rest are Ds and Fs. Just doing some filling up.

Was this created on the PS3 originally? I was playing on the PS4 and notices 2 guys with the big long beards and the multi-layered facial hair. Like how CAPs had to me made on the PS3. Robin Yount was the specific guy that I noticed the multi-layered mustache. And the 2 guys I say with the long beards were Steve Frey from SF and Alfredo Griffin in the FA. I do admit though Alfredo Griffin looks awesome with the LONG beard!! LOL
