Re: OS94 (MLB 15) Topic
Even with the players I added, Tampa and Arizona being weak still means that stats are a bit inflated for other teams in Year 1 , but by Year 2, it's not as much of a problem because they can fill up a lot faster. It's neat seeing guys like Overbay and Huff on those teams growing into guys that will be starters in their late mid 20's because you can see that growing curve working real good, they will be there in-game at the same age they made it there in real life.

Re: OS94 (MLB 15) Topic
I'm now at the point where almost every position player in the game outside of the two expansion teams are real players and not generics.
I'm going through the roster trying to maximise everybody's roster. Now, the way I handle players from future drafts is as follows:
- Anybody who in 1994 would be 17 yo, I put in if I need them to fill a roster or if they're plain good enough to be in there, which anybody rated C or above pretty much makes the cut.
- Anybody who in 1994 would be 16 yo, I put in IF they have a minimum of B potential.
- Anybody who in 1994 would be 15 yo, I put in IF they have a minimum of A potential. That is 5 guys in the mod: Beltre, Youkilis, Buehrle, Santana & Webb.
For the expansion teams, you add a year. So all, and in this case I mean ALL, 17-16yo draftees are in, 15yos if they have B or better potential and theorically 14yos if they have a potential of A, even though nobody fits the bill.
And everybody is on the team that eventually signs them no matter who drafted them UNLESS they were drafted prior to 1994 and a team is currently holding their rights. Like, a team that drafts Player X in 1993 would have his rights, even if in real life the guy went on to be drafted again by another team in 1995.
Also, lesser/older minor league players who did not play in MLB in 1994 or beyond may get displaced to an expansion team if I need spots for prospects.
So I get the Expos and I get to the 2000 draft.
And that's when I realise/remember that in 2000, the Expos drafted Cliff Lee, Jason Bay, Russell Martin and Grady Sizemore.
Now, Martin and Sizemore are way too young, like 11 and 12, so they can't be in.
But Bay and Lee are 16... Bay has an high B potential rating and Lee has an A potential rating. So, as if the Expos needed more bad *** prospects, they will now have Jason Bay and Cliff Lee in their cupboard.
What could have been. Imagine the Montreal Expos' having money to keep everybody.Last edited by Phil Parent; 02-21-2016, 03:39 PM.Comment

Re: OS94 (MLB 15) Topic
Last night I had a dream, a legit dream. Baseball season rolled around, and I started a 1994 Dynasty with the Phillies on time using the newly released update to this roster. It was a hard dream to wake up from.Last edited by Culture Rot; 02-25-2016, 02:53 PM.Comment

Re: OS94 (MLB 15) Topic
I'm testing my WIP version in Franchise right now and it works pretty good! My Potential system definitively works well, guys that should be on top 3-4 years in are. The version that is in the vault should be fine too, you get full MLB and pretty much full AAA, with all the top prospects in. I think if you do a fantasy draft, V2 would be perfect for franchise as is.
Even with the players I added, Tampa and Arizona being weak still means that stats are a bit inflated for other teams in Year 1 , but by Year 2, it's not as much of a problem because they can fill up a lot faster. Re: OS94 (MLB 15) Topic
Right now, I'm putting real players on those teams. That way, the teams are better, they have a semblance of reality and it allows me to put in some players who wouldn't be in otherwise.
1) Players aged 16 and up who would eventually be drafted and sign with Tampa and Arizona. So, the likes of Lyle Overbay, Aubrey Huff, Brad Penny, Byung Hyun Kim (He's 15, but has B Potential) ,etc...
2) Journeyman players who retired in 1992-93 and aren't too old.
3) Players I removed from other teams to make room for better prospects. Usually obscure MLB veterans stuck in the minors at the end of their career, more rarely obscure prospects. Strictly nobody that would play in MLB in 1994, or in a meaningful role in the future.
4) Free Agents I put in here because I needed room for better free agents in the FA List.
I keep the best free agents on the free agents list so that anybody can sign them.
In sim, I've seen the Diamondbacks (real surprisingly) make the playoffs in Season 5. I've seen the all generic'd out Devil Rays go 0-162. The current, not finished expansion teams, are good for 20 wins in Year 1. Not enough to be balanced, but better.Last edited by Phil Parent; 02-25-2016, 10:46 PM.Comment

Re: OS94 (MLB 15) Topic
Just one last little thing about the expansion teams: Other than the players who would eventually play in either Arizona or Tampa, which will stay on the right team, I will be going through the two expansion teams and do an "expansion draft" of sorts so that the players that are on the two teams are spread evenly.
The only teams that now have Generic position players are Tampa and the NL West. Every other team has 100% real position players. Each team also has a dozen or so Generic pitchers so that's what is left to put in.Comment

Is there any way to use the Expos as intended, rather than as the Nationals?Comment

Re: OS94 (MLB 15) Topic
So just wanted to say thank you to everybody that tried out my rosters. I'll start a new topic once the port is done.
Hopefully this is the last year I have to add new stuff to OS94.
And then, MLB 17 can be all about... OS98!Comment
