Houston looks great! I love the data you gathered on them. Only thing is: Kyle Farnsworth is for some odd reason labeled under the Astros. Haha Obviously not a big deal, but it made me chuckle. That guy must be in his mid-40s now!
Overall, the numbers look really solid. Can't wait to see these bad boys in the Hybrid roster!Football Data Analyst @ Tracking Football

There are too many variables at play for me to tell you what it is. Your skill vs mine. Your sliders vs mine. Your pitcher vs mine to name a few.

The spreadsheet covers every non-position player who threw a pitch in the big leagues since 4/1/2014 unless the sample size was so small that the ratings wouldn't come out remotely realistic.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Do you have any info on minor leaguers?
Also, just want to send props, the new control numbers really give you the authentic feel of having a pitcher battle with control. I tested these this morning with Aaron Sanchez and it was a very real feel during the game. Love it

No, what I have is all there is. I am not planning on adding anyone else since pitchf/x isn't tracking minor leaguers. You can find some other guys on Brooks Baseball who have pitched in spring training/winter ball/fall ball, but often the data is only for a few pitches, which is not nearly enough.

I haven't had a chance to review WTNY's spreadsheet in depth yet, although I will say it's very well done. Very easy to read, which makes entering the data a lot more streamlined. I have no doubt that the ratings that WTNY (and Quest for that matter) has come up with will work perfectly in-game.
I know a lot of people are concerned about players in the minors, but I believe that Quest's spreadsheet has quite a few MiLB players listed. Granted, most of my knowledge is about the Dodgers organization, but I've also noticed a considerable number of minor leaguers being listed on other teams too. I realize that they used different methods to compile their ratings, but it's already been established that WTNY's and Quest's numbers aren't DRASTICALLY far apart from each other. I think it's a conceivable for somebody to use WTNY's as the primary pitch edit spreadsheet, and use Quest's as a stop-gap for MiLB'ers if in fact the minor league players are that important.
Just a thought....Comment

People should realize that PITCHf/x is only for pro ball though with a few exceptions (spring training, winter ball, AZ Fall league, WBC). It's not as though the data is out there waiting to be processed. It just doesn't exist even though there are tabs for "minor leagues." The data isn't being collected in a public way yet. Someday it probably will be.Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 05-27-2015, 06:44 PM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: WTNY's 2015 Pitch Edits ( Please read the FAQ )
Just finished my first game with these pitch edits input. Phillies vs. Nationals. Went 17 innings and I won on a bases loaded single in the bottom of the 17th inning. Well pitched game on both sides of the ball. Both teams emptied their bullpens. I struck out 19 Nationals and they struck me out 16 times. Such a long game, but I was happy with the balance of pitches throughout the game. Works well with Classic pitching.Comment

Re: WTNY's 2015 Pitch Edits ( Please read the FAQ )
I just played my first game with some of these edits. Used two starters for three innings each, and three relievers for one inning each just to test out different guys, and I have to say that it really changed the game for me.
Usually I just kind of absentminded make choices, but these edits really made it a much more thought provoking effort. Can I afford to throw a breaking pitch in this count? Will my fastball get that corner? It was all much more intense, and utterly awesome.
Thanks a ton, WTNY. I think these might be the best pitch edits I've ever seen.Comment

I found the same thing. These edits are amazing. I never used to get excited about pitch edits but am now

Re: WTNY's 2015 Pitch Edits ( Please read the FAQ )
Thanks for the edits. Your hard work is appreciated. However, I gotta be that guy and point out a few things. I'll preface this by saying a couple of things to try to justify my position. First thing being is that I strive for realism. I have the MLB package and have for as many years as I can remember so I can see any pitcher pretty much whenever I want. If I see a pitch behave a certain way then I will do what I must to replicate that in the game. That is mostly a sinker/2 seam situation but things like straight changes/splitters or splitters/forkball do come up. For instance we all know Lincecum throws a split change but I firmly believe the cpu is much more likely to whiff on a straight change instead of a splitter. I only think that because for years I have tried edits and I get whiffs way more often on a change rather than a splitter. I know it's far from unscientifc or correct, but that's my opinion.
Looking through these edits I just see way too many straight changes and inaccurate repertoires. Sorry, but I had to say it. Lance Lynn throws a slider. I watched him throw sliders tonight and I've watched him throw sliders in the past. You say it's a cutter. It is not a cutter. There is no room for argument here and if Brooks says it's a cutter well, then they are wrong. Brooks is wrong a lot. Felix throws a circle change. He has for his entire career. Just the other night against Toronto they stopped the film and showed his grip, whilst talking about how he's explained his grip, and it was a circle change. I just see so many straight changes, 4 seamers, normal curveballs, etc. Corey Kluber throws the filthiest slurve in baseball. It is quite literally the perfect literal and physical definition of a slurve pitch, yet you have him throwing a slider and a straight change. He throws a nasty circle change. It's almost as filthy as his slurve. I could go on with pitchers from every team but I digress.
Anyway, I do truly appreciate your effort. It's awesome to take the time out to do something for people and believe me, I am not unappreciative and I take no joy in saying any of what I did, but it's true. Going only by Brooks will get you about 50/50 at best. Anyone who watches baseball and knows what pitches are will see it right away and I'd hate for other makers to be discouraged because this one is out when they could finish up.
I will say on an absolutely overwhelmingly positive note I truly love your control and movement ratings. I don't care what the pitchers name is...SCEA gives way too much control to every pitcher. The best guys in the league might throw high strike percentages but watching games for as long as I have you can see despite it going over or being called a strike, balls sometimes just leave the hand and kinda tumble down their own path. I see that with your edits (I did Seattle and Toronto and played 3 games) and I can't express how much I loved it. Made for a new atmosphere. It's one of the best game enhancing changes I have seen in The Show ever, if not the best.
Again, I apologize for being the dude that craps on hard work. Thanks again though, I really do mean it when I say I appreciate your effort, and seriously...those movement control ratings are spectacular.Comment
