Only "downside" that I know of is you will play the 2015 schedule instead of the actual 2016 schedule. -
Re: Any downside transferring from 15 to 16?
It also creates a problem when the game looks for the stats to display on the OSD's I believe.
I can't tell for sure if it's a bug or just because it's looking for 2015...but there was none or not.
It doesn't seem to happen if you transfer the PLAYERS by exporting/importing them onto a 2016 roster....but when you simply start one in '15 without playing that first season is where I think the problem comes from.
I have to do more checking on this though to see if that is the problem.

Re: Any downside transferring from 15 to 16?
I tried this. And the stat glitch is in full force with blank numbers for 2015 on all OSD swipes etc.
It is an eye sore and ruins immersion.
You will play the 2016 schedule but it will behave like the 2015 season.
Just hang tight for the real McCoy with OSFM.....it is worth it if your going to go really deep with the franchise (now that we have historical stat tracking to boot).
I tried starting a chise with a top 150 prospect roster and realized....I want it all!!!

Re: Any downside transferring from 15 to 16?
I simulated a season on MLB '15 as all 30 teams. Made some trades at mid-season, made call-ups based on injuries and let the CPU decide who to re-sign and sign Free Agents during the off-season and then exported it to MLB '16. The cool thing is it gives you the 2016 Schedule. However, it changes the names of several players on some of the rosters. Some of them are retired, (which I understand is because they no longer have rights to use the likeness of the retired players) but some of them are guys who are still active. It's nobody major but it's still annoying. Also, stat's don't seem to carry over very well during the game broadcasts. I was playing as the Tigers and hit a HR with Miggy Cabrera and the announcers said it was his first career HR, but on his player card it shows the correct number of HR's he has hit. I don't know if this glitch is due to the dramatic change in statistical data in this year's franchise mode or not, but it definitely takes away from the whole game play experience.Comment
