So I've bought OOTP 17. Always wanted to try the series... I like sims, so no action gameplay is okay. Bought it because I wanted to try it and because I hope the game has accurate pitch repertoires for obscure pitchers and I can use it to help me with those and their stats. Waiting for it to download and install.

Re: OS94 (MLB 16) Topic
This is amazing depth! And yes it has info I can use. Pitch Velocity, Pitch Types.... just that is great, I'll see what I can do with their Stuff/Move/Control stats, it's obviously not balanced with the set and it's on a 20/80 scale while my data is 0 to 100, but it still gives you an idea.
I like it.
Full license too. I wonder what they pay for all the historical players. I think SCEA pays for theirs, at least.
Would love it more if it had historical international leagues, but that's a very specific, spoiled man's need, 99% of the people playing it will be fine with it.Comment

Re: OS94 (MLB 16) Topic
Phil,
You can adjust that 20-80 scale to reflect a 1-100 scale in the games settings.
I use OOTP (V14 I think) exclusively for Pitcher's Pitch Type, Velocity, Movement & Control. I input OOTP's ratings into a simple calculator I created which then produces the relative MLBTS ratings for each of those categories for each pitch type.
I can send you my calculator (which is very simple but somewhat effective) and you can easily adjust it to be a closer fit to what your perspective on these things might be.

Update time!
Things are clearing up at work, I had some time last night to mess with it and what I did is I selected lots of the pitchers who will complete the rosters. So I did my research, selected who I put in amongst those available and in the game I renamed the generic players to the name of the players I've chosen, without doing their stats or nothing, I'll do that later.
I'm through NL East and NL Central doing that.
I'll do the whole MLB except Arizona and then, to fill the spots on Arizona, I will select prospects from all over baseball who didn't make it to their team's 90-man rosters. These guys will be low D-Level prospects, but they'll be young and developable. Thinking about allowing C-Level 16-years-old-in-1994 pitchers to be put on Arizona. I'll see. So, always keeping in mind the fact that Tampa and Arizona will be built with an expansion draft of sorts, those prospects will be spread on both teams.
Looking forward to that part of it, the draft. I'll ABSOLUTELY make a draft document that will show who Arizona and Tampa had on their rosters that were protected, the players who were available to be drafted from both their rosters and free agency, and the resulting rosters... Really, when the time comes, I'd love it if somebody other than me would draft one of the teams.Comment

Re: OS94 (MLB 16) Topic
Phil,
Try this link at Dropbox:
the folder is named RBU and it contains several files of which the one named "PitchersControlBreakGeneratedRatingswOOTP.xls x" is the calculator you want to take a look at.
It should be fairly self explanatory but if you have any questions just PM me and I will be more than happy to answer what I can.
The Top part is for just entering Stats to generate MLBTS ratings and the Bottom part is used to input OOTP ratings to generate MLBTS ratings.
Hopefully you can download this without me having to authorize your email address but if not just PM me your email address and I will authorize it.Comment

Re: OS94 (MLB 16) Topic
If they went all the way and had like full retro teams in the game, all-time rosters for exemple, that would be great. But I don't think so.
I'm on vacation so....
Time to work on this!Comment

Cool little gimmick. But I think it will be it's own little exhibition match thing. Like I don't think you'll be able to do a Franchise or RTTS in Retro Mode.

Re: OS94 (MLB 16) Topic
Currently working on the prospects I'm adding to the expansion teams.
To be added in, players had to be...
- Rated C in potential and be 16 years old in 1994.
- Rated B in potential and be 15 years old in 1994
- Rated A in potential and be 14 years old in 1994.
Just from memory, this means that Tampa and Arizona will share the likes of Pujols, Teixeira, Holliday, Bautista, Sabathia, Beckett, Haren, Papelbon, Burhle, Santana, Webb (who will not be in my expansion draft, since he was a D-Back, originally)...
This adds more known players in the game, and deletes most if not all of the F-Level guys on Tampa and Arizona that never even played a game in MLB.Comment

Re: OS94 (MLB 16) Topic
Most of the contracts are actually set up, since they are minor league contracts for one year, for 60-80k. Some MLB contracts are done but not all. I know that I set up some of the most notable contracts of the time because I wanted to know if my formula worked.
And that, as they say, is that. Generics are a thing of the past in OS94. Last players to get in were Jae Weong Seo, Sun Woo Kim and Hiroki Kuroda.
OOTP works like a charm as a source to do this.Last edited by Phil Parent; 12-19-2016, 11:14 PM.Comment
