Re: OS94 (MLB 16) Topic
I actually like these '94 rosters. The players don't all look like their counterparts, but at least the names and numbers are correct (Ryne Sandberg has quite the tan, and for some reason has a mustache). And why are the Cubs' players rated so low? Oh yeah, it's because they were horrible that year! Interestingly, if you hit a home run to left field at Wrigley, if you turn the camera down Waveland Avenue on the replay, you can even see the firestation where their manager at the time, Tom Trebelhorn met with fans after not winning a single home game in April. Actually, it got so bad that on May 4th, Ernie Banks led a goat around Wrigley Field to hopefully win a ballgame at home. They did, but Chicago had been 0-12 at the Friendly Confines before that. The Cubs were in such bad shape that Ryne Sandberg couldn't take it anymore, and announced his retirement on June 13th (The day after Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman were found).
Ah, memories. The experts predicted a White Sox/Expos World Series, but instead baseball season was cut short on August 12th. For my Cubbies, it meant a merciful end to a dismal season, one that would see the dismissal of both manager Tom Trebelhorn, and general manager Larry Himes. The White Sox would end up winning the World Series eleven years later, but for the Expos, that was it.
I actually might try to make 1995, at least for the Cubs. Much easier doing that out of the '94 rosters than anything else.Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!Comment

For now, I go minimal in terms of how the players look. Right skin color, right hair / facial hair, right head shape, right eye color / shape.... I'm concentrating on playability, and THEN, when all the data is in like I want it, I'll fix the looks of everybody that anyone would recognize. I mean, I ain't gonna have a picture perfect Mike Hardge, who cares?
And yeah, 1994 was a crappy year for the Cubs, but it will always be the year the Expos died for me. If they win the World Series, they can probably keep the team as it was and win again the following year. And when Guerrero would have come up then they would just go for another run. They were perfect. Even the bullpen was amazing, all the starter had to give was 6 innings, then Alou would put in Shaw in the 7th, Rojas in the 8th and Wetteland for the save and that was that.
But when it's all said and done, I'll probably win as them for a decade straight in MLB 16 soGetting Jason Bay and Cliff Lee on top of the guys that did play for the Expos is overkill.

Re: OS94 (MLB 16) Topic
Not everybody is, right now this has a 47% rating in the vault. I'm not gonna put much work into it if it's this bad.
My generic roster has 58%, and that's not even supposed to be playable. Is this this bad?
I'll GLADLY scrap it and start something else if it is.
Really, OS98 exists already. Exists as in "I've made Chris Widger, and that's it" exists, but it exists.
Also, I'll say something about OS94 I've said about ported work in general: Sometimes you have to clean up the fridge and start anew. The MLB players in the game are like 5-6 years old, maybe time has passed the project by.Comment

Re: OS94 (MLB 16) Topic
Steve Trachsel on St-Louis instead of Bob Tewksbury, fixed...
Almost through the NL as far as picking what players to put in. I'll start to input data after I finish the National and then do the American.
Other than those I've already mentioned, the best new player so far is Joe Beimel. Of course, it's every teams' last few players, most of them are D level. I'm happy though, I don't need to bring in any F-level career minor leaguers so far.Comment

Re: OS94 (MLB 16) Topic
Phil, first of all great job on the meticulous level of detail you put into these rosters, as others have already said. While most face likenesses are off, i know it is a ton of work for this many players on a full roster, so its give and take. One thing that doesn't make sense to me: why do they ALL have high stirrup socks? Was that old coding from the roster port you did? by 1994 the high stirrups from the 80's were definitely gone and most everyone in MLB was wearing low pants at that point.Comment

Re: OS94 (MLB 16) Topic
My guess, looking at pics from then, players wore the pants but they were still high enough to see the stirrups were underneath the pants so maybe they're trying to mimmick that. I still think the low pants are a better choice but that may be part of the reason.
But, do YOU want to be the one who goes in and removes stirrups from 2,000 players? Exactly. So get used to them folks.
on a specific note that stuck out playing earlier, Lenny Dykstra shouldn't have a beard. I believe there were several other players with beards and 5 o clock shadows that should be clean shaven, but I cant think of the names off the top of my head.
