    Classic Teams - MLB 16

    Updated March 25th, 2017

    Hey all,
Well, this project is now finally complete. My approach with these sets was to provided some of the the greatest teams and the greatest players the game has ever known. I believe this comprehensive collection does just that. My focus player-wise was of course likeness, correct age, batting and throwing and accurate ratings. I didn't get into editing gear other than some flapless helmets and correct pant/sock length for the era of a particular team.

The teams that are represented below are truly a OS community effort. I have re-rated all of the teams using JTommy67's roster building utility (RBU) V1.0 along with mixing in some pitching slider adjustments using OOTP 15 and a calculator created by classic roster colleague doncropper.

As far as player likenesses, stances and such, I have built some players for a few teams from scratch but the rest of the players/teams I imported from the following talented player/roster creators: DrSublime, Biebig2010, doncropper, Knight165, Rwings832, Dallmantor1, JohnEKool, Aboti98, sc73ray and Marsl444. Thanks to you all for your efforts with regards to making this collection possible.

I've already had many people ask about the possibility of these sets getting ported over to MLB 17 as the big release is this coming Tuesday, March 28th. Anyone is welcome to undertake this chore but it won't be me, in the short term anyhow. I simply plan on making seasons with the roster sets in MLB 16, placing them on a jump drive and bringing them to the new title when I see fit. Unfortunately, the MLB the Show series has yet to address bulk roster transfers and customizable seasons/leagues. This new title really offers little from a classic roster perspective with the exception of the solid gameplay itself. I will be picking up MLB 17, but I am in no hurry to do so as I still am enjoying MLB 16. Enjoy these sets as you see fit!

*Note -Astericks have been placed by the new teams so if you downloaded the older sets, you might want to grab these updated versions as the older sets have been taken down. Also, the only difference between versions 1.2 and 1.3 are the Yankee and Red Sox teams listed to the right. My PSN handle is BostonRob 75.

    Fantastic!
This should be a really fun set to play with!
    Really nice variety.

boston.....I'm not sure if you've got all the teams set.(meaning edited...not which year you're using)
I started my 1985 set and have the 1985 Mets completed.
I'm about to start the Padres, and working them back one year when completed wouldn't be difficult if you need anything for this set.

Can't wait to play with this roster! How's the progress coming along?

Just finished re-rating a few teams. Just have to set the lineups and double check uni numbers. Could be ready tomorrow

This is fantastic, but I do have a question/comment about the Blue Jays. Being a lifetime Jays fan, it always surprises me in baseball game modding that people choose the 92 Jays over the 93 team in these kinds of lists. Being from Toronto and having lived all those late 80s early 90s years, I can tell you that among those of us that are die-hard Jays fans, it's the 93 team that we really loved and that was infinitely a better all round team than the 92 team.

I guess people fixate on the 92 team because they won the first World Series but I can tell you that it's the 93 team Torontonians think about when we think about that era. The 93 team is the one that really captivated the city and all of baseball at the time. The sellout attendances, Molitor, Henderson, 5-All Star starters, Dave Stewart, the first time in 100 years that the top three hitters in the league were from the same team, Olerud's run with a .400 batting average for most of the season and ending at .363. There's just no comparison with 92. Even the playoffs were better. And I can also tell you with a bit of sadness, that at the time in 1992, for most of the season Torontonians did their typical ignoring of the Jays until it became clear they'd be going to the playoffs. Granted, the Leafs were doing much better back then but still, nobody batted an eye at the Jays until about late August, and then the bandwagon really got going.

Just my two cents having lived through it all, I was working at the Dome those two years, and I'm not at ALL knocking the efforts of modders in baseball game communities like this one, the 2K series, even MVP, but I would just find it really refreshing for once to see someone do the 93 Jays which were pretty inarguably a better team and unquestionably a more significant team for Toronto sports fans and Canadians.

Hey interesting perspective from a Torontonian and thanks. Yeah I guess this being the first world title team is the reason why it gets more play. However, it wouldn't be hard to adjust this team to the '93 version. You'd just have to search out a '92 roster in the vault and make the player movements if you wish.

Well, a project I've been wanting to do for a long time is get a roster and fill maybe one division with some of what I think are the best Blue Jays teams and do a playoff with them. But it seems I can never find the years I want and not having ever created historic teams before I don't know anything about how you go about doing it. The ultimate dream is to fill a whole league with Blue Jays teams and have them play a shortened season and playoff. Just as a total stats-nerd, Jays fan, experiment.

Re: Classic Teams - MLB 16

I'm happy to report that v1.0 of my classic teams set has been uploaded to the vault a few short minutes ago. I imported all my classic teams at the Double A level before moving them up to the MLB level for two reasons. First it preserves the 2016 players, and secondly, there are a couple of handfuls of duplications with a few players on multiple teams. Nothing serious especially if you are just using these for playoffs. I don't mind duplicate players in season play, but if they bother you simply bring the 2016 players up from the AA level to avoid that possibility and make the appropriate player movements to mirror current active rosters.

All teams are 25 man rosters and lineups and pitching rotations are set. You just have to download and play. If there are any errors, post them here so people can make the adjustments. I won't be reposting the rosters so folks can just check in here and make the changes on their own. I have placed the teams for v2.0 on the front page and hope to have those out by mid June. Now to actually enjoying playing the game for a while. I'll post my results here from time to time. Enjoy!

Nice job. Ramon Hernandez missing from my 1971 Pirates. Wish we could go custom schedule with this set. I also continued 14 2oth Century Teams franchise over from 15.
