Thanks for doing this! When I was looking through the ratings for the Astros I was shocked to see Correa's speed rating as low as it was.

Speed Ratings - MLB The Show 17

I felt Baez was too slow as well hopefully they boost him and I think they only gave him only an 80 in fielding dude prob one of or the fastest tagger In MLB

Baez should have one of the best defensive ratings among 2B he was #6 in DWar among all infielders and top at 2B and still SCEA gave him avg D, he's as fluid as Cano at 2B but more athletic and nobody is as quick tagging people.

Didi is a slightly below avg runner, like Iglesias he's an above avg defender thanks to his hands, arm, instincts and quick first step, the 62 SCEA gave him it's not that bad he doesn't impact the game with his speed.

Yea I think they're trying too water him down for whatever reason. Dude is rated an 81 if they rate him correctly he prob be like an 83- 85 .

I think this is a great idea. Speed and defense are the two areas I feel are not quite rated properly each year. Would anyone be interested in defensive ratings as well, per Statcast, scouting reports, and advanced fielding metrics? Arm strength especially is way off for a number of players.

I'm happy to help with this, since I spend loads of time on Fangraphs and have already found numerous articles on fielding/throwing Statcast data.

I would agree for the most part. He should be very highly rated in arm strength (the highest for 2B by a long shot), rated well in arm accuracy, but not exceptional. He should also be rated very highly for reaction time. However, he still makes a lot of errors, so his fielding rating shouldn't be elite yet.

                        I can agree with that

Yeah i agree, the ratings that surprised me the most were Eddie Rosario's 59 arm and Gary Sanchez's 77 arm both have a cannon, Eddie was the leader in assist in 2015 among LF and despite his limited playing time in 2016 he's still #2 in assist among LF the past 2 years and even without stats there's enough videos of him showing his arm, Gary threw 41% and i have seen a lot of people say that he has one of the strongest arms among all active catchers, even Teixeira said that he has the best arm of all the catchers he has played with, his pop time is usually in the 1.8 or 1.9 range which is among the best and he had 5 of the 10 hardest throws among catchers despite his limited playing time too.

Maybe they change when we get the first roster update , but I hope they fix some of this stuff.

Trayce Thompson's speed is about a 55 or so which is graded to about an average to below average runner. That I would say is highly inaccurate. I would say he is at least a plus runner at a minimum of an 80. Not much of a base stealer, but he is a legit athlete getting around the bases quickly with those easy, long strides.
