justmunc, I dont think I've seen this mentioned. You did a great job with the equipment this year. I can see the amount of time you spent on it and the roster really shines. I usually tinker with equipment but haven't felt the need this year because the Red Sox look so good!

Thank you. That was one of my main points of emphasis when putting this roster together. With the addition of New Balance, Adidas and other equipment companies, I felt it was necessary for every player to have authentic stuff. I personally hate seeing generic equipment ever since the brands came out in 2015. The only issue with doing so much with equipment is that some teams are a little different than others. An issue occurs when a player joins, say the Oakland A's (who use white shoes) when he originally was with the Dodgers (Blue shoes). You'd have to go into the game manually and edit each player individually. For me personally, I enjoy tinkering like that, but I know the majority does not, and after a few years, equipment starts to look funky.

I'll be posting some fun stuff that applies to this roster...starting with my rendition of the MLB Top 50 Prospects. Hope this helps when it comes to rebuilding teams in franchise mode...

Fantastic roster justmunc. This roster might just pull me away from my carry over from 2014. I mean I doubt it, but if anything could, this is it. Job well done.

I know Detroit has another one, he is a Third Baseman. I believe his last name is Starr? He is number 2 on the top prospect lists that I have. I know I have some good trade pieces to acquire a good Starting pitcher to make a run. We just need to get everyone dialed in at the same time. Currently I am 37-34 with about a month until the Deadline. I have had quite a few key injuries to some players so we sit currently at Second place, 2.5 games behind the Royals. Does anyone know of any Good pitchers right off hand to maybe keep your eye on? I guess I can go a couple of different ways. We have a great core of young guys that if need be, I can trade a couple of veterans away at the deadline if things go sour here in the last month. These rosters have been really fun to play a Franchise with. It's kind of nice just sitting back and playing it and not worrying about every move the CPU makes.

Agreed. This is a tremendous fictional roster.

                Excellent job.

                    Re: justmunc Fictional 2017

I finished my first season of my Oakland Athletics franchise a few days ago and wanted to recap it as a benchmark for anyone else doing the same thing.

                    Few Notes:
I make every closing pitcher a relief pitcher.
                    I use 30 man control.
                    Trade slider:
                    March-June - 1
                    July 1-20 - 5
                    July 21-31 - 10
                    August-January - 4
                    Injury Slider at 8
Every drafted player's potential gets dropped 5-10 points (randomly) and put them in Single A before the start of the next season (I find that there are too many All-star level potentials, especially for this roster)

                    Season Notes:
Chris Frasier wins the Home Run Derby
The AL won the All-Star Game
Matt Bowman and Fernando Abreu were named starting pitchers in All-Star event
#1 Rated prospect, Blaine Koncz, forced to retire due to a Torn Labrum

Is it fair to say this fictional roster is a "modern" based one, while Bacon's (& Armors) fictional is more of a retro?

You can say that. I based all my players' looks on what you would see in today's game. I based their skills off of last years OSFM Hybrid roster so that they closely relate to real major leaguers. I hope this helped

It's more of a preference thing. I like all my relievers on equal ground to start a season. Unless your closer is lights out, most teams change around their closer a couple times a year and I wanted to get that in this game. Plus I find that as the years go on, teams will stockpile great closers, but instead of having them all at the big league level, some will get stuffed back in the AAA level. An example of this happened in my RTTS. The Rangers already have a premier closer in Corban Sheridan, but they went out and also got Diego Rapada from the Mets as well as Willy Pena from the Cubs. All three could easily be in the same bullpen but because they were all designated as closers, Willy Pena was put in the minors.

What a combination! Last years Hybrid was probably the most comprehensively re rated roster ever. When you add your Fictional edits with your extraordinary attention to detail to that you have created a truly great roster!

Quick question - How come the top of top 50 prospects list in my franchise are all basically the top players in the league? (The top CF, 3B, SP etc) Is this due to a lack of prospects on the roster or just something that will fix itself as I go into the season more? Still pre-spring training
