Hey man... Sorry to bother you, just curious if you have all the NL West ratings done?

Looking for the full spreadsheet with all teams, so I can add to my Franchise.

      Thanks so much!

I don't think I'll be done for a bit, got through Arizona hitters, getting pitchers done tomorrow

Main focus has been entering the ratings in-game, finishing up the ratings for the NL west is secondary

I was starting to implement your changes to my roster but I have a question on your pitch edits. How did you factor velocity because you have Cole Hamels with a 98 fastball when the most he's been clocked at is 96

I'm not sure where you're looking

Cole Hamels's pitch edits should look like this:

              VEL CON BRK
              4SFB 92 57 37
              2SFB 92 43 30
              CIR 83 86 99
              CUT 89 46 52

Maybe I'm confussed on the ratings. If you set his velocity to 92 it says his fastball is 98 mph

Oh, I see what you're saying.

I didn't post the actual "velocity" value. You need to adjust the velocity rating to get to 92 mph

i.e. velocity in the spreadsheet = target pitch speed

I am really looking forward to these, nice to see some other rosters popping up. I started playing DD just to fill time until some other rosters come out (because offline is where it's at), and man, you do not realize how much is missing until you don't have pitch edits. Am looking forward to trying these out! Thanks!

I wrote a forum post last year entitled "Abolish the Clutch Rating". It is so unbelievably situational it's not even funny. Last year Kris Bryant was among the least clutch players in the league, and you can't give me one GM who wouldn't want that guy swinging the bat in the situation.

I am looking forward to the ratings, but I will be taking clutch and moving it to 0 for everyone because the game plays better. Just like WTNY's Realism Roster.

Because there is a clutch rating in the game.

There are a few ways I could have approached it. I could have just used an average of a player's other ratings (I do this for rookies), or I could have made it tiered, based on player age/MLB service time.

I didn't like either of these approaches because they can't quite account for certain players consistently underperforming in high leverage situations. They also would operate under the assumption that older players/more experienced players are more clutch than younger ones, which is not always the case.

It's tricky. But it's all about giving players clear strengths and weaknesses, so I went with the WPA-based clutch stat method.

How would you have approached this rating?

If you give everyone a clutch rating of 0, overalls will be very low

EDIT: Lowering Aaron Judge's clutch rating from 50 to zero lowers his OVR from 83 to 81

WTNY used the tiered age-based clucth method I alluded to above

If I had to consider an alternative for clutch, I would use the average of a hitter's batting ratings, and a pitchers per 9 ratings.

How would everyone feel about this method?
