Cycloniac - Have you seen the re-ratings help with swinging strikes on pitches in the zone for pitchers that can dominate in the strike zone?

For instance, guys like Nola, Marquez, Kluber, Tallion, Berrios and Godley can get upwards of 15%+ swinging strikes on their curveballs in the strikezone to RHB. That's something I see as missing from the default game play.

I mentioned the same thing in regard to Hader's fastball and slider. Just way too much contact in the zone with those two pitchers.

            Thanks for the reply!

Cycloniac - Is there a preferred slider set you use with these rosters or will you be releasing one with the roster when it is complete? Looking forward to using your roster!!

A slider set to accompany the roster is being tested in house and will be released

I would say yes. I haven't dug too deep into tracking the swinging strike percentage data in-game yet, but I've seen good whiff rates so far in limitted testing. Take a look at the two full gameplay videos and let me know what you think.

I would also say the sliders used will also play a key role there; an early version of the sliders that will accompany the rosters is being used in all gameplay footage.

Sorry if this has been asked but what's the method for potentials. Curious how you guys come up with those. Everything looks great!

Potentials were calculated based on age and current ability

Seperate curves were used for hitters and pitchers, based on available research tracking players peak seasons

Nick Ahmed doesn't really have a 99 OVR potential, does he?

Ahmed's potential is correct. He most likely will never reach that ceiling, but, based on his current ability and age, that is his ceiling.

Do you have more insight on how this is calculated? On the surface that seems very high for a 29 yr old, only defense SS.

How does having so many players with a 99 OVR Potential effect in game trades? I assume with a potential that high, teams will be very reluctant to part with a guy like Ahmed. Also, does potential have a effect on contract demands? In testing, how many of these guys actually reach their potential of 99? Also, how do you guys determine what to rate a veteran players potential as? For example, why does Brian McCann have 98 potential, when there is no hope of him ever having that kind of potential again at this stage in his career, versus a guy like Matt Kemp with a 79 potential, but who at point did have kind of ability as well. Don't take these comments as complaints or anything of the sort, I'm just curious about the process. Appreciate you guys work.

With veteran players a high potential like that can help offset ratings decline in franchise mode.
