Re: Franchise Fidelity to Reality Roster Project (Official Thread)
If someone was to put in tons of hours sifting through thousands of images and video footage to make sure the equipment and batting stances are done properly on top of an existing roster that took someone a ton of hours to complete then of course people would want to use the equipment edited roster version. Most people want the best / most realistic / accurate roster possible that they can get there hands on. There's more to a great roster than just altering attributes and creating players. Equipment, stances, lineups and rotations etc. are all part of what makes a roster great. That's not taking anything away from the original creator. That should be an honor to the original creator because they chose the base roster to do the edits with. The end goal shouldn't be about who has the most downloads between the original and the edit, I mean who cares? It's not a competition. The end result should be to create the best roster imaginable and get it in the hands of as many people as possible.
I know people who just want to play the game don't care. But those of us who put in a ton of 3 am mornings to get this roster out to you in three weeks care.
Taking our extremely hard work, doing a bit to it, then uploading it yourself is not cool. I had that happen with my Madden draft classes and it rubbed me the wrong way to see all the comments about the guy who edited the top 30 draft class prospects and left the rest the same as I had it get all of the good comments on how awesome and complete "his" draft class was. He didn't even bother fixing some typos I purposely left in there on the chance that something like that happened.
Nah, it's like you build a house from scratch, someone else moves in and adds a new roof or something.
It happens all the time to content creators. There's nothing you can do to stop it, and 99% of people won't really care. But it's really hard work, a LOT OF WORK, and it's just scummy and a bad practice to do.Comment

Re: Franchise Fidelity to Reality Roster Project (Official Thread)
It's not even remotely possible to edit 1200+ players in 10 hours and you should know that, but I'm not here to argue. It just kinda sounds like all you care about is getting clicks. If your roster got 100 downloads and a equipment only edited version of your roster got 10,000 downloads, you should be proud that so many people want to use your roster base instead of someone else's. That's all I'm saying.Comment

Re: Franchise Fidelity to Reality Roster Project (Official Thread)
As someone who has done top down edits of equipment, it most definitely takes MUCH longer than 10-15 hours.
Anyways, congrats on the roster! Looks like a lot of thought, and love went into the project. That is what this site is all about!Comment

Re: Franchise Fidelity to Reality Roster Project (Official Thread)
Yeah that's kind of disingenuous to the work that I did. Especially with the 17-19 year old guys. You usually have to find multiple pictures to get bats, gloves, fielding equipment, batting equipment, batting stances. Finding good footage of central america kids is really hard. Between doing faces and equipment, probably takes 5-10 minutes for each player. And I did 258.Comment

Re: Franchise Fidelity to Reality Roster Project (Official Thread)
First off let me say these rosters look great! so thank you for the time and effort you put into these.
I do have a question about the top prospect list inside franchise mode. when I first load up it only shows 23 top prospects where usually it's 50. I know part of it is due to the game basically not recognizing that players in single A exist. but there are some in the top 50 according to MLB.com who you have in AAA or AA that are not showing on the list. I am guessing this part is not intentional and just a by product of all the work you did to the ratings but also what level the prospects are at IRL.
did you go through and edit anyone's service time? I know that would effect whether or not the game treats these younger players as "prospects" as well. mostly just a curiosity question for me.
thanks again for such a great roster

It’s worth noting that Sports Gaming Rosters already did a ton of edits to equipment and stances. So all you’re changing is a few things and you end up bagging a lot of credit
As far as clicks, tbh yes it does matter. It’s recognition for the countless hours we spent working on this project. It makes the project more worth it
In the end, I can’t stop you from doing as you please. This is merely a request and I appreciate those who are respecting itComment

We can’t control the top prospects list. It just does it at randomComment

Oh, I'm not changing anything nor am I re-uploading anything. I was just stating my opinion about re-uploading to make something that already exists better.Comment

I figured it was not intentional just wanted to confirm. thanks for the quick reply and thanks again for your tremendous work. don't take this as a dig at your roster in the slightest

I believe only Prospects with potential higher that 88 show up on the Top 50 prospects list in game. One of the few downsides of mass re-rating like this

Nice Rosters.
Still missing some players...
Heineman Bluejays.
Bethancourt Oakland.
Eric Thames Oakland.
Drew Jackson Oakland.
Roenis Ellas Seattle.
Ryan Goins Atlanta.
Bobby Wahl Dodgers.
Ariel Jurado Minnesota.
Aaron Whitefield Angel's.
I just quickly did a check on some teams. Probably a few more missing.
I know it's a lot of work, to get everyone in due to a full minor's.

Re: Franchise Fidelity to Reality Roster Project (Official Thread)
Good work on these rosters!! I know I was a bit critical of the ratings but they look pretty good and balanced to me, at least based on what I've seen with the Braves.
I do have 1 question, is there a proper way I can update Kyle Wright's ratings to reflect how well he's pitched recently? Him being a 68 is pretty low when you check out the 3 starts he's made this year and his 2 appearances in the World Series against the Astros. He's finally starting to live up to the hype of being the #5 overall pick in 2017.
