Hey Cy, I hate to question a rating… and don’t reply if you think it’s pointless but just curious as to why Ty France has such low hitting ratings? He’s easily one of the best in Seattle, has been for a few seasons. Just trying to understand the reasoning before I potentially make an edit.

The thing to remember, and Cy can correct me if I'm wrong, is that these rosters are "opening day". Meaning, we didn't know then what we know now about some of these players. So players are locked in to how we thought they would perform at the beginning of the year.

These aren't live rosters where player ratings can rise and fall based on performance. Perhaps Cy will put out a trade deadline or end of season update with transactions and ratings updates later on.

For the sake of explanation, I re-ran France's numbers for the past 3 seasons (2019-2021):

        2021:
16% strikeout rate (75 vision rating)
7% walk rate (56 discipline rating)

        vs Righties
.280 batting average (70 contact rating)
.133 isolated power, 2.38% homerun rate (38 power rating)

        vs Lefties
.311 batting average (78 contact rating)
.197 isolated power, 4.66% homerun rate (71 power rating)

        2020
        82 Contact vs Righties
        53 Power vs Righties
        43 Contact vs Lefties
        33 Power vs Lefties
        52 Vision
        56 Discipline

        2019
        48 Contact vs Righties
        25 Power vs Righties
        49 Contact vs Lefties
99 Power vs Lefties (7.3% homerun rate, .273 ISO)

Average those out, counting 2021 sseason an extra time and that's why France has what he has.

If you wanted this season (2022) only, he'd get:
        92 Contact vs Righties
        70 Contact vs Lefties
        46 Power vs Righties
        34 Power vs Lefties
        83 Vision
        52 Discipline

If you're looking at OVR, he's hurt because he doesn't have a lot of power vs righties as a first baseman. Good contact/line drive hitter though.

Thank you for your reply Cy, makes sense from a numbers standpoint. As you always say, I may adjust him slightly to my preference (I’m not even a Mariners fan) but the clarity you provided is great.

Just a quick question, I’ve been a franchise player for a couple of years now, but only recently have I started actually playing games in franchise. I’m not as well versed with the Hall Of Fame difficulty could I bump the difficulty down one or two notches and still get good results??

And also one other question, did you guys do any work with the legends roster, as in add international free agents? I’m sure you’ve answered already, but wanted to check and make sure.

So I may be the only guy here that goes the opposite way. I've used cys roster for a long time and I've always used all star for hitting and HOF for pitching. I like a tougher challenge defensively so that's why I make the pitching harder. My numbers have been solid. I go on the occasional 6 game run of W's and then I'll have the challenging 5 or 6 game slide. I've had guys have career lows or highs in season. I haven't had to tweak sliders for the adjustment. So to me its doable and you still get really good games and solid overall numbers across the league.

I can play pitching on hall of fame, the hitting tho is what I’ve been known to struggle with. Maybe I might try out what you have suggested.

I occasionally struggle with even Allstar however I notice when I do go through a spell of struggle I'm either rushing the offense and not working counts OR just not focusing on the overall game...actually going through it a bit rightnow lol. Started 5-1 and now I've lost 3 straight and it's not even been close. Falling into 6 run deficits and losing the game w/scores of 8-4 in some cases not even getting any offense lol. Good mix though. Good luck boss.

Sorry for the late reply - Once using 30 team control, have 2 profiles set up. I have one labeled “User” and one labeled “CPU”.

Make sure all teams besides the one you’re controlling are set to CPU and the one you’re using for franchise set to User. You can do this in User Settings -> 3 little buttons on the right -> Preset Associations.

Once you have that, you can cycle between User and CPU Settings Presets. Go to User and go to “Mode Specific” and make sure all your stuff is set to Auto or Manual however you want to control it.

Then cycle to User - Settings Preset. From there at the very least put “Lineups” on manual (that way you can control the bullpen, or anything weird like Pete Alonso hitting 8th or leading off). You can also control 40 man roster, roster moves as some do but I generally just control lineups.

This way I can correct any mistakes the CPU makes and ultimately re-do any wild trades. However the lineups and pitching rotation/ bullpen usage will remain as you left it. The CPU will make necessary substitutions when there is fatigue, so don’t worry about that.

Lastly, if there is an injury to the CPU team(s) and you try to advance the day it will notify you. You can either manually do it yourself or what I do is just hit Auto Fix. Then once a week or 2x a month I’ll check in the lineups real quick and make any changes needed.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else!
