I know in the past once all changes were made the numbers would be where they need to be. But I've tried everything and can't get the sinker upto 99. All other MPH on his pitches ate correct. Also on some guys cant get MPH down low enough and on some guys circle change I can move it 0 to 99 and MPH will not change. It will effect other pitch speeds but not the circle change. Hope that made sense.

I know how you feel. This has been an issue for years.

If you can't get his Sinker up to where you want, I would just switch to a 2 Seam. The MPH on that usually goes higher than the Sinker.

Change ups are the toughest. In the past, if you created a player or edited a generic one, you could only get the MPH on their Circle-Change to 84 MPH. Regular players top off at 88 MPH and won't go higher. If that's the case, I use a Forkball because it has similar movement to the Circle Change and you can get it up over 90 MPH.

I appreciate it brother and the work you put into doing these.

I posted my control formula a couple of years ago on one of my pitch edit threads.

For control, I split the pitchers into starters and relievers. I take the best strike percentage for a starter and reliever in the Majors from that season.

Then, I divide strike percentage by ball percentage and multiply that by the best strike percentage for a starter/reliever.

For example, in 2022 Kevin Gausman led all starters in strike percentage with 70%.

If I take Justin Verlander's 4 seam from 2022, he threw 24% for strikes and 30% for balls.

So, 24 divided by 30 times 70 = 56 would be his control rating on his 4 Seam.

I usually will go 95 for the high and 20 for the low. If the pitcher has a low number of pitches I try and adjust accordingly. So, if a pitcher threw 10 sliders and 8 of them were for strikes, I don't want to give him a control rating that is too high. Unrealistic to me.

As for break, I came up with a formula years ago. If a 4 Seam has over 4 inches of horizontal movement, I go with a Running Fastball. If a Curveball has over 6 inches of horizontal movement, I go with a Sweeping Curveball. Splitter has more horizontal movement, I go with a forkball. If a Slider has over 5 inches of horizontal movement I go with a Slurve. I also prefer 2 Seam over Sinkers because most Sinkers have more horizontal movement then vertical movement.

Even if you give a pitch a 0 break rating, it will still movement a little bit so I used that as a starting point.

Everyone likes to do pitch edits differently so it's really up to the player. I think my edits work well with MLB and I enjoy making them.

Sorry for my babbling. I should just post a video. LOL
I'm actually glad you typed this out over doing a video unless it has caption (Deaf gamer here)

        Any formula for the movement?

          Re: MBMavs20 Pitch Edits 2023

          Movement is a little tougher.

For example, if you set the break rating to zero on a Curveball, it will still move about 1-2 inches. So I created a chart and just worked backwards.

I use Brooksbaseball.net to make my edits.

For a Fastball, if it has 4 or more inches of horizontal movement, I go with a Running Fastball.

If a Sinker has more horizontal movement than Vertical movement, I use a 2 Seam.

Same with Change-ups: more horizontal movement, I use a Circle Change.

          Same with Forkballs and Splitters.

If a Curveball has less than 1 1/2 inches of horizontal movement, I use a 12-6 Curve.

If a Curveball has more than 6 inches of horizontal movement, I use a Sweeping Curveball.

Pitcherlist.com is a good website to use because they have videos of what pitches the pitchers use and a video of it as well so can see the movement of each pitch.

              Re: MBMavs20 Pitch Edits 2023

Was looking at your movement, and noticed you posted Circle Change and Sinker to have more vertical movement than horizontal while I believe it should be the opposite. The lower movement means more drop, higher means straight or rising. I found this chart online, just something to look into. (this is RHP chart btw but you get the idea)

              x - horizontal
              z - vertical

              Pitch avg(pfx_x) avg(pfx_z) Velocity
              Four-seam -4.2 8.9 92.4
              Two-seam -8.0 6.1 91.9
              Sinker -8.4 4.6 90.9
              Cutter 1.4 5.8 88.6
              Forkball -6.5 4.4 85.1
              Slider 2.8 1.2 84.3
              Split-Finger-5.8 2.6 84.1
              Change -6.7 4.1 83.7
              Knuckle Curve 4.9 -6.1 79.7
              Curveball 6.1 -5.8 77.8
              Knuckler 0.1 1.5 75.9
              Eephus 4.3 -5.3 65.3

The last player listed for the Padres, Jose Lopez, I couldn't find him. Is that a typo?

My bad, he was a Rule V pick by them and I thought I saw he made their roster but apparently he didn’t. Anyway, here are some more debuts:

I just updated the list except for Headrick and Stoudt. I will add them once they get some innings.

BTW, my edits are based on Major League Data. Not fall ball, winter ball, minors, etc... Just regular season and post season.

Yes I know that 100%, in past years you weren’t so quick to reply, so I’d put any rookies who were up or set to debut and just keep editing them each day until you had seen it.

                          @MBMavs20,
Do you plan to add full pitch edits for the 2023 season as well as starting the pitch edits for 2024?

Yes, I will release my pitch edits for 2023 sometime next month. Just don't have the free time I used to.

I am a teacher and our spring break is March 11th-15th so I will be working on them during that week and hopefully they will be ready by opening day.
