It seems now that I increased Contact to 4, the XBH have been coming... So hopefully it keeps up and it wasnt just the series Im in.

Re: Itbeme23 Sliders - Vet Hitting/A.S. Classic Pitching Emphasis on Accurate Strike

          Guys,

I've officially played 15 test games using my Dynamic Difficulty set in the first post of this thread. I've logged detailed stats (which are also posted in the thread), with the exception of three of those games. I'm getting to the point where I really don't want to be testing for too much longer. We're at the mid-way point of June, over a third of the MLB season is done, and the Trade Deadline is just a few weeks away. I am beyond the point of wanting to start my franchise.

Here are the stats from my test games. These are all based on a 12-game sample.

I've highlighted the stats in GREEN that I feel are in acceptable ranges (in-game vs. real-life). As I've said several times throughout the thread, Dynamic Difficulty has provided me with the best playing experience that I've had in all the years that I've been playing The Show. Now, are the stats EXACTLY where I wish they were? Probably not.

However, three main things come into play here:

          1. 12 games is a pretty small sample. Who's to say that the other three games that I played (which I didn't log stats for), would influence the stats.

          2. Are the "non-ideal" stats questionable to warrant a slider change, which would call for additional testing?

          3. Are the "non-ideal" stats bothersome enough to hinder my enjoyment of the games being played?

The answers to questions 2 & 3, are a very hard "NO". Of all the stats highlighted in GREEN, the only one that concerns me is the pace of the triples for both User and CPU. However, with the three games that I didn't account for, this stat is a bit too questionable to warrant any slider changes. Being that the other power numbers (doubles, home runs), are in realistic ranges, making a change to either the Power or Solid Hits sliders would inevitably have a domino affect on other aspects of the game. I sincerely doubt that triples would continue at this pace over the course of a franchise, but it is something that I will be keeping my eye on when I eventually start my franchise. If they do continue at this rate, I would probably consider increasing Outfielder Speed by one click. Again, that would be the worst case scenario, as even lowering that slider could have a drastic affect on power numbers/extra base hits.

The only stat that is unacceptable for me at this time is the CPU's lack of walks. The rate that they are able to draw walks is simply not in a range that would allow for realistic gameplay over the course of a full season. After calculating User strike percentages (which I will post later) for this 12- game sample, those two stats would seem to correlate with each other. Simply put, my strike percentages are too high (both overall and first pitch), which is not allowing the CPU to draw walks. I more than likely will be lowering both User Control/Consistency to help with that. The problem is, the CPU's offensive numbers are very realistic with the current settings, and lowering Control/Consistency would inevitably affect the CPU's offensive numbers. Unfortunately, for as much as I'd like to dive right into a franchise, I will need to continue to test in order to rectify these issues.
On the flip side, the CPU's strike percentages are right where they should be with the current settings. Being that I'm quite happy with my offensive stats, I don't foresee any slider changes being made at this time.

Re: Itbeme23 Sliders - Vet Hitting/A.S. Classic Pitching Emphasis on Accurate Strike

Great work man. I play with different sliders due to using AS hitting but similar settings timing/auto fielding and baserunning. I like how close your numbers are to real life. I plan to track my results too once I start a franchise. What is your teams record after those 15 games?

Getting walks to real life numbers is very hard using classic pitching. I use analog because I never could force myself to walk batters to get 3 a game or so. I think the only option honestly without totally making user pitching more wild is to make the AI batters more fearsome. But of course that would alter the HR and doubles and triple numbers. It's the hardest part of baseball games to get right.

What perked my interest though is your injuries slider at 9. I didn't see anything you tracked but I'd love to know how many injuries you are seeing per games played (not sim results). I did some extensive research and testing last year and found the most accurate setting for simmed injuries was 10. It actually still didn't create enough injuries to match real life but it is the closest setting you can get. Then for in-game injuries I found that teams average about 1-1.5 injuries per 7 games played.

              Thanks for your input, man.

I've worked very hard on all the sets that I've posted on the thread. At this point, I've probably played almost 100 test games, and only two actual franchise games when OSFM v1 dropped back in April. So to say that I'm anxious to get a franchise going would be an understatement. However, I didn't want to automatically assume that my DD sliders would work with Willard's roster, which is why I went into this latest testing phase. For the most part, I'm pretty happy with the results, with the exceptions being the triples and lack of CPU walks.

Personally, I never had an issue with the CPU drawing walks before, and I've been using classic pitching for the better part of three years now. However, I always used stock (non re-rated) rosters, which caused me to set User Control/Consistency relatively low (2/2), and as a result, CPU walks were in realistic ranges. With Willard's rosters, and WTNY's pitch edits, there have been significant changes to pitcher control, so setting Control and Consistency sliders too low on the user side will result in huge offensive numbers for the CPU. on the other hand, setting them too high will result in unrealistic strike percentages and a lack of walks, which is the position that I find myself in right now.

My record in the 12 games that I logged stats for was 8-4. I'd venture to say I was 2-1 in the three games that I didn't track, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

On the subject of injuries, I think they are happening at a realistic clip at 9. I initially started testing with injuries at 8 when the game first released, but injuries just weren't happening. Although I haven't tracked this extensively, I know that injuries have occurred throughout this testing phase. I think it would be safe to say that they're happening at the pace that you stated above.

I'm using armour and swords set and have comfortably given up the least amount of walks in the league. I want to give up more to make it more realistic.

I think Armor has his User Control/Consistency set at 4 as well. Again, I haven't been able to test, but I'm almost positive this is going to need to come down to 3/3, or a different value combo for Control/Consistency. I probably will not be able to test this until later on this week.

with alternate days and without continuity, I am continuing the franchise. But reluctantly, I have to stop to be able to continue to bring all the stats relating pitching and hitting.
At the end of the season I will make a partial report, based on data collected in the course of the franchise.
Anyway I am continuing with the sliders Ibteme. And I'm finding it very well.

It... I'm still striking out the CPU more then I should... With Travis Wood (59 K/9) last night , I K'd 3 guys on 4 seamers right down the pipe... I've been playing with CPU Contact at 4 and Solid Hits at 8...

CPU Contact to 5?? I'm kinda scared to do that tho.

I play using "Fast Play" and "Quick Counts" speeds up the game and to me makes it more challenging as well. Good ball and strike ratios, walks, hits, etc. Try that once. The flows smooth and a heck of a lot faster too at the same time.

Like the sliders but i am striking out to much people i had at 8/13 Ks per game and classic take in a account your pitchers stats such as k/9,bb/9,h/9 and control and thing that will help like maybe use classic instead of pitch trail

CPU Contact to 5?? I'm kinda scared to do that tho.
Just up the timing window for CPU so they wont miss, increasing contact will make it were they increase batting avg and get solid hits timing just makes it so they don't miss often
