Re: Armor & Sword's MLB The Show 15 Timed (Directional)/Classic Simulation Sliders

I am not saying to edit the pitcher, but go to his edit player screen and hit L2 a couple if times so you can see his individual pitch ratings. Look for pitches with higher than 60 control and 60 break and try to stick mostly with those on his next start. Really, focus on using their best pitches most of the time, especially when you need a K or have to come into the zone. It will take 2 starts to get rid of the snowflake because the game uses stats from the last 10 games to determine hot and cold players. Hope this helps.

For example, I have to use John Danks every 5th day. With him, I have to use cutters, 2SFB, and an occasional change. Save for trying to use a rare curve for a get me over strike one, I barely use it or his 4SFB. The 4SFB is supposed to be his best or X pitch. I never throw it for a hittable strike.

IrishSalsa - I can see where you're coming from, but for me, this is one of my favorite aspects of the game. When I get the snowflake, I really start to focus on every detail. If it is my pitcher I pay very close attention to location and pitch selection. Hitting, I really focus on working the count and putting good swings on good pitches.

Since pitch edit rosters have been out awhile, what is everyone's feeling on to use them or original rosters?

I use the MLBTS original roster update in my Brewers 'chise I started a week ago. Although the game is flawed with its off-speed mph compared to the fastball, I choose to put up with it because I feel its the way the devs designed the game to be played. BTW thanks for the pep talk guys on how to turn around a cold SP. Gonna be tough, but if Im able to turn Wily around I could probably plan on a playoff berth.

After 16 games my record is 3-13. I'm lowest in batting average somewhere around .160 and have the most strikeouts and least walks. Think I'm reaching the point where in a middle of a game I'm getting frustrated about my hitting, losing patience and almost swinging at anything.

It seems at the moment every time I manage to work into a batting count and make decent contact it will be a ground ball straight at an infielder.

Another thing is my timing will most often either be early or late. Now and then I will get good but even those I've yet to see a play that resulted in a hit. Is perfect timing possible in this game? I've yet to see this myself.

With this directional hitting, am I supposed to be always using the left stick? I mainly just use X with no left stick since I'm more use to the timing batting of previous years. When I do want to use the left stick it feels I sort have to swing and I can't stop myself from swinging at that pitch if that makes sense.

These are really great sliders, I just need some help or tips with hitting. Don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I pop in and out of here once a week or so, just to see if A&S has changed anything or noticing things I also notice......Ive been using his set for 3 years, and I play a LOT (223 games into this years edition, with around 300 to 400 games every year), always on the AS set (I use QC....). I dont catch hardly any of these posts, but I saw yours, and I am strongly of the opinion that you batting view means EVERYTHING in that regard.

I have one that I have set up so perfectly that I dont even use it anymore. And others where I cant crack a loud foul, then others where I can get 12-15 hits a game but nearly all of them singles....... Play around with it, a lot. And utilize all 4 of them at your disposal.

As a consequence of playing way to much, I at times become delusional and lose my timing, badly. Most rational people would simply put the game down for a day or two, but I noticed in those times, i tend to be way late on everything, so I have a different batting view I switch to (That gives me less time to swing and react...idk works wonders).

I'd take C1, use Catcher2, then drop the Angle (R3), then the height (L3), then L2 to move back a few frames. Then with C2, use "Wide", do the same thing but keep it a little closer.

Sorry if this is old news or useless to anyone, but whatever.....hope it helps.

Just wanted to big up the changes A&S made to the set....it truly is like night & day slowing down the base runners & fielders. All the animations are so damn smooth now. Still the best set I've used this yr!

Ok guys I could use some advice. I am REALLY struggling with these sliders right now and could use some suggestions on what to do. I was really struggling with hitting on all-star so I decided to change to the hybrid slider set with batting on veteran and it has helped a lot, much more fun for me as I can actually hit home runs now! But my struggles are mighty on the diamond right now. It seems like I just give up way too many homeruns/extra base hits. Some of the pitches the CPU hits hard for extras are really good pitches too, high and tight or low and away, ect. I turned down a few of the CPU sliders and they still hit me harder than I like (my last game the Pirates lit me up for 7 runs on I think 12 hits).

My question is should I consider turning down the difficulty to Veteran once and seeing how it goes? Is anyone else using these sliders on veteran pitching? I really like classic pitching overall but it is making the game really tough for me on all-star, to the point where it's just not fun for me anymore (I'm 2-8 in my last 10 games in my franchise with the Cubs).

Oh I love the feature. But with SP I think it's a little too overpowering when they are "hot". And too difficult to manage when cold...at least using classic pitching anyway. It's harder to get rid of a hot or cold streak for a SP than a position player imo. I just want it to be more balanced.

You have to accept a 2-8 stretch. That is baseball. Keep playing. The game rewards you if you play all 162. Trust me on that.

These sliders are specifically designed for players that want to commit to playing every game and experience the roller coaster swings of a baseball season!

I moved back to full count games and am never going back to quick counts after having an affair with them on MLB 14. The fact I can carry over my saves has made me go back to the true grit battle of the batter/pitcher show down and getting a true feel for a pitchers stuff and battling my way back in the count. I am drawing walks with no issues on full counts vs quick counts.

Now don't get me wrong. Quick counts is an awesome feature and these sliders work wonderful while using them. And for some they play even better on quick counts. But I really missed the battle and the rewards of seeing every pitch. To me that is baseball.

Anyway the sliders are fully tweaked and final. This game is a joy offline. Online it still has some buggy moments and issues but is a vast improvement from years past. Diamond Dynasty is a great change up for me as well as my online franchises.

Enjoy the game everyone. It's a gem.

I agree with you completely on this, and it's the #1 reason I've fallen in love with RTTS. Personally, I just don't have the time to play out every pitch of every AB in franchise, but for me quick counts dilutes the pitcher v batter battle that is the essence of baseball. With RTTS I get it all, each AB is a flat out chess match, and because I'm coming to the plate just a few times per game, I really get to dig in so to speak, I can't say enough good things about the mode with your sliders.

Doesn't it feel great when you say, fall behind 1-2, then lay off some tough breaking pitches, foul a few off,the slap a base hit on the 10th pitch of the AB!

Does anyone have problems with accuracy? I love these sliders but Wainwright and Wacha have so many problems hitting the plate...it's so frustrating. Is anyone having these problems? I understand that even the best pitchers have this problem randomly but it happens consistently.
