Been following along but haven't posted in a while. I think this will be the first year I complete an entire franchise in the Show playing every pitch. Sitting at 32-21 with the Mets, 3 games behind the Nats and in a 1st place tie for the wild card with the Dodgers/Giants who are both 33 and 22 I believe. Pretty cool stuff. Long way to go, I know. Anyway I'm shocked at the increase in both power and solid hits, especially for humans. I believe I have hit 105 homers as a team through 53 games and the next best team has hit maybe 70? I'm sitting 14th in team ERA so I'll definitely leave the CPU hitting alone, but I do have control/consistency at 2 on HOF. I guess this just a testament to how well the game is playing right now. I haven't made a slider change in what seems like forever. I think the amount of HR's being hit is just something I will have to deal with this year.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
The OP is now updated with the most up to date sliders I am using. Post patch 1.11
The changes are to HUM/CPU power and solid hits now at 6 for both.
Also on quick manage set they have been updated and injuries on quick manage (and also straight sim) are now at 5 (down from 6).

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
Hi Armour. I'm curious as to why the increase to 6 for these sliders so late in to your season. Were you not seeing enough homers and extra base hits for both the CPU and human? I havent played nearly as many games as you but thought things seemed fairly realistic so far at 5. As always, I trust your slider recommendations so just curious as to what the reason is for the change.
Thanks
It is a slight but highly effective tweak. And the game today is full of offense (Real life MLB) and the over reaction here to the game out of the box was IMO ridiculous.
Just watch the MLB every night. Bombs all over the park every night.
This tweak get's the game back to out of the box for me.....and I loved hitting out of the box.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 08-02-2017, 02:59 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
I was seeing enough HR's but contact got a little weaker after I had a huge sample to see. And i want the CPU to be more dangerous.

Having said all that, I'm slightly torn. I know it's been explained in and out of the game that power will increase HR's, my question is, will solid hits also increase HR's? My HR's increased when I raised solid hits only and didn't touch power so makes me curious if I did the same thing if the CPU offense would remain largely the same but with a few more extra base hits which would result in a little more offense and a more enjoyable game without it swinging the game drastically the other direction.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
Dang Armor, you've got me thinking about changing my sliders, and I was locked in. LOCKED IN! I don't think you realize how big of a deal that is for me.
I'm really curious to see how things play out for you. I'm obviously going for a different style of gameplay than you (as you can tell from my sliders thread) but your input and info is, as always, appreciated.

Also something he doe's often, that's how your slider's have gotten to be as good as they are, also why i never question a change, a person that has played literally over 100+ games, i'd say knows what this game is doing in & out. some of the things i have read in this section is seriously head scratching to me sometimes. ty for the outstanding work you have done with this set.I stream a variety of video games for relaxation and fun.

If you are locked in....and having a blast stay locked in. I just felt after patch 1.10 and playing 3 dozen games they nerfed solid hits and power ever so slightly. Not nearly as dramatic as the general forums would lead you to believe. No not that crazy. But ever so slightly and I was one who absolutely loved this game out of the box hitting wise. Yes the HR distances at times were over the top.....but the bat’s were alive.
This ever so slight tweak not only get’s hitting back to where I felt it was out of the box, but it also makes the CPU far more dangerous on HOF pitching (and I am sure as well on all-star pitching for those still using that level).Last edited by Armor and Sword; 08-03-2017, 11:37 AM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
What kind of league ERAs are people getting from simming? I see an average ERA of 3.8 vs the real life average of 4.3 or so. Is there a way to make the sim stats more accurate?Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
Everything depends on bunt rating, bunt quirk, pitch you make contact on for the bunt....lot’s of variables.
I swear....in reading the general forum I am convinced people who complain loudly:
1. never played baseball
2. want an arcade baseball game
3. base observations on 20 games or less played and don’t even sniff playing over 100 games a season on The Show.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 08-04-2017, 01:23 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
IF you have a guy that has a low bunt rating it will happen often. If you have a highly rated bunter and you angle down the 3rd base or 1st base line, get the right pitch, it can be a decent chance of a successful bunt.

It's funny to hear about how "hitting" changes every patch the same day the patch comes out...without hitting being mentioned in patch notes
