    Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider

Just started my red sox franchise with these sliders and osfm v1.75 rosters. Played my first game and man was it a good one. Cole vs Sale. Looked to be a pitchers duel until Polanco hit one into my bullpen. An inning later Pitt scored 2 more playing some small ball. I could not get anything going against Cole. 3-0 going into the 8th when the Panda goes deep solo. Sale left in the 7th having thrown 90 pitches and was losing command. Thornburg kept it close until the 9th. Top of the order, rally caps on...Lazer show with a solo shot! 3-2 no outs. Xander base hit. Mookie base hit. Hanley grounds out to the pitcher but runners advance. First and third, one out. Moreland cant put the damn ball in play and strikes out. All up to Jackie Bradley. Two ropes foul...ugh. 2-2 count aaaaaaand.....strike 3 looking. That sucked but man was it a good game. Great job so far with these sliders armor!

Sir please create a set for RTTS. It's really the only mode I play! I would love to get the full effects of the game through your slider set. You always do great work! Thanks for your hard work and dedication! Salute!

        Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider

        Guy’s,

I was away this weekend for my son’s baseball tourney and now I am laid out with a virus.

So please don’t think I am ignoring any questions or comments. But I am really sick right now.

Will be back playing the game in a few days.

Once I am testing will resume with the following tweaks:

        CPU Contact - 6
        CPU Consistency - 5

        HUM Consistency - 3
        HUM - Control - 2

Also looking at having the trade frequency slider a moving adjustable slider.

        April - 5
        May - 6
        June - 9
        July - 10
        August - 10
        September - 10
        October - 5
        November - February - 10
        Spring Training - 10

I personally need to make pitching more of a challenge for myself, and I need to fear the CPU hitters more. However I do not feel HOF pitching is the right move for me until I test these excellent suggestions.

I agree about the CPU hitting too many batters. It was a trend and after over 50 games something that needs to be tweaked.

The set plays great already, but those two areas are the things that are consistently sticking out at the moment.

Does anyone have any suggestions for which sliders to adjust to strike out more as a hitter using this set? I typically K no more than 3-5 times a game. Sounds weird but trying to actually K more lol. I like the way the game feels right now but just need to make this small adjustment.

          Thanks in advance!

Get better man we need you. Lol. I have been testing those settings you are about to test. And pitching is definitely a challenge more than ever.

Feel better! Yeah I tried making the jump to HOF once, and it was hell. Couldn't get anybody out. At that point I wasn't having any fun. If only we could lock in All Star +.

Can you turn the Dynamic Difficulty speed all the way down to 0? Or would it eventually move slowly?

                  Hey man.

First of all, hope you feel better soon.

I played a good chunk of games over the weekend using all default pitching/hitting sliders...with your fielding tweaks and so on (as a compare/contrast experiment).

While I would not offer a statistically-based judgment, I will add an observation that the settings don't really seem to do a heck of a whole lot to change the number of HBPs (I'm fairly certain Nomo's numbers back this up). I think this might be an area where we accept it and move on.

Even though I didn't see a notable change in HBP numbers, I wholeheartedly concur with the default consistency values for the CPU (if not also for control/strike frequency). It takes more skill to read borderline pitches and while the CPU is around the strike zone more, they are better quality pitches (and from what I saw, the CPU strike percentage is still quite solid with default settings).

Now, user pitching....I think that will be a trickier proposition....no definitive thoughts there (yet).
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

I played my first 15 or so games on default hitting and pitching. The only difference I saw was on default I was not drawing any walks and the computer was always getting ahead 0-1 and 0- 2 in the count. The strike % was good but no walks and as soon as I drop the strike frequency and control sliders I drew more walks. I'm a pretty patient hitter and always try to work the count so I think there is a need to drop the control and strike frequency sliders the consistency slider for computer pitching is an interesting one to me and will definitely try it on 5

Played a few games and it was obvious....very very obvious for me that these changes really had the impact I wanted.

Classic pithing is now more challenging with your bullpen and lower rated starters, CPU batters I should fear....are better. HBP was noticeably better IMO. I was still able to easily draw some walks.

The difficulty is amped up as far as pitching, and being even more disciplined at he plate when your hitting with CPU consistency at default 5.

Slider Version 2.6 is now official and updated on the OP.

The following changes have been made.

                      CPU Contact - 6
                      CPU Consistency - 5

                      HUM Consistency - 3
                      HUM - Control - 2

After running full season simulations with these dynamic changes to the trade slider I also endorse this idea for trade activity around the league. It was a great suggestion and works quite well.

Trade slider settings will go as follows:

                      April - 5
                      May - 6
                      June - 9
                      July - 10
                      August - 10
                      September - 10
                      October - 5
                      November - February - 10
                      Spring Training - 10

Yeah this is a good question. No idea. My GUESS is it will eventually move, albeit slowly. As Armor always preaches, baseball is a long grueling season and you will go through ups and downs. That's the main reason I never switched to dynamic difficulty. If I go through a team wide slump at the plate, I don't want it to get easier as everything generally reverts back to the mean on it's own. In my own baseball universe, I enjoy these things. Also, what if I play against the Nats, and Dodgers- two teams with generally really good pitching. Just because I can't hit their pitching does not warrant the game to get easier. It's SUPPOSED to be harder. Than maybe I have a series against the Marlins or Phillies where I rake at the plate. It would be nice to know though if moving that slider down to 0 would "lock in" All Star plus. And I def don't want All Star plus for hitting lol, only pitching. The game does play great now though, I'm pretty much locked in and will ride what I have now out till the end, unless the patch does something major.

I THOUGHT I read in previous years that is the trick. I might test it out tonight. At least I would think if its at 0...it would move slow enough to ride out your slumps or a challenging series to keep it at that level long enough and it will balance it out.

The difficulty is amped up as far as pitching, and being even more disciplined at he plate when your hitting with CPU consistency at default 5.

Slider Version 2.6 is now official and updated on the OP.

The following changes have been made.

                            CPU Contact - 6
                            CPU Consistency - 5

                            HUM Consistency - 3
                            HUM - Control - 2

After running full season simulations with these dynamic changes to the trade slider I also endorse this idea for trade activity around the league. It was a great suggestion and works quite well.

Trade slider settings will go as follows:

                            April - 5
                            May - 6
                            June - 9
                            July - 10
                            August - 10
                            September - 10
                            October - 5
                            November - February - 10
                            Spring Training - 10
No changes to the sim slider?

Dynamic progress doesn't move at all with the slider at 0 - it locks in your current difficulty level. If you need proof of that, zero it, make sure the bar is set to update on "Progress" (general options, basic tab), and watch as it never moves from whatever position it's currently in. Oh, and make sure whatever profile you're setting options for is actually the one you're loading into a game with.

It normally adjusts according to your OPS, which is why it moves after every time you either make an out or reach base (and increases more when you get extra base hits).
