No doubt I will pick up 19......but I don't feel (unless some huge wish list stuff is on 19's Franchise mode) the urge to get it release day...month or any time soon for that matter. I don't need the latest roster as I am playing 3 franchises that I have been carrying over year to year. And I will most likely start another one with the V3 Hybrid roster.

So I can wait till a huge price decrease and then pick it up to continue my franchises. I will most likely go ahead and begin year 3 of the Yankees on 18 next year at some point....if I don't pick up 19 on release.

Plenty of time to decide. But this game continues to blow me away.

One big down note though is what just happened in the penultimate game of ST. Brian McCann collapsed running to 1B and was seen beating the turf in agony holding his achilles and unfortunately the worst fears were confirmed later that day. He tore his achilles tendon and will be out for over 6 months!

Not only will that obviously end his season but at 35 it could end his career. Would be a sad way to go out especially after he bounced back in Year 2 (2018) hitting a career high 41 HRs.

The Astros may now look into possible trades/free agents for a Catcher but for the immediate future veteran Juan Centeno may well get the starting role to begin the season which would be a considerable downgrade both offensively and defensively.

Still loving playing this game. I just finished Year 3 in my Astros franchise. I can give a condensed overview of the season with notes from each team if anyone’s interested. I realise this is a slider thread though so wanted to ask first.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

Hope those interested enjoy this, sorry if it's a bit long/hard to read.

              Year 3 (2019) Review

AL East - Almost needed another Game 163 between Toronto and Tampa Bay after the one they played to decide AL East champion in 2018.
              Blue Jays (95-67)
Osuna repeats as AL reliever of the year 56 saves 1.65ERA and he broke the record for consecutive saves streak with 87 from sometime last season until sometime this season.
              Rays (94-68)
Jordan Zimmermann had an AL best 2.23ERA. He and Jacob De Grom (Acquired at trade deadline) had the top 2 WHIP stats in the majors 0.95 and 1.05 respectively. 8 of 9 in their usual starting lineup hit 20 or more HRs!
              Red Sox (85-77)
Underperformed, highlighted by Kimbrel's struggles 6.06ERA with 11 blown saves.
              Yankees (79-83)
Missed postseason for 3rd straight year. Gary Sanchez played just 95 games this season after 92 last year, this time because of a bulging disc.
              Orioles (75-87)
They resigned Manny after 2018 but similar results as a team with now declining key players e.g. Jones and Trumbo.

              AL Central
              Indians (100-62)
Kluber repeats as AL Cy Young 23-1 2.32ERA 241Ks.
              Tigers (83-79)
Injuries derailed potential playoff appearance, particularly J.D. Martinez (Torn MCL) and Michael Fulmer (Torn rotator cuff).
              Royals (65-97)
              Record declining 2017 - 78-84, 2018 - 68-94.
              White Sox (64-98)
Narrowly avoided 3rd straight 100 loss season. Went 54-108 in both 2017 and 2018.
              Twins (61-101)
RF Daniel Palka won AL Rookie of the year .236AVG 28HRs 71RBIs. RP Justin Haley won 2018 AL ROY.

AL West - Tightest/Best division again!
              Angels (104-58)
              Trout AL MVP and Triple Crown .371AVG 54HRs 152RBIs 14.5WAR. K-Rod 50 saves at age 37!
              Astros (94-68)
We had an inconsistent 2nd half mainly due to pitching struggles. Gattis had huge 2nd half to lead team in AVG .304, HRs 44 and RBIs 115. Altuve struggled until August when he got back to his normal self for the last 2 months but still only hit .270 in total. We acquired Chirinos from Texas at deadline to fill void left by McCann's spring training injury. He was very unhappy on the bench at Texas but starting everyday at Catcher, he gave us improved offense and defense at the position.
              Mariners (93-69)
Just missed out on AL wildcard game, which they lost in both the last 2yrs.
              Rangers (90-72)
Big improvement, after back to back 74-88 seasons, under new manager AJ Hinch (after he left us in offseason) but still not enough to make postseason.
              Athletics (62-100)
Traded away K. Davis (NYY), S. Doolittle (WAS) and S. Vogt (MIL) as they try to get more young potential.

              NL East
              Nationals (91-71)
Comfortable in division but not spectacular. Shut down bullpen - Kelley, Doolittle and Herrera. No Bryce Harper anymore but Michael Saunders filled in nicely .309AVG, 25HRs and 102RBIs.
              Braves (77-85)
Freddie Freeman won NL Batting title .321AVG and came just 6 HRs short of Triple Crown season.
              Mets (75-87)
Continue to underperform. Traded away De Grom and got back Jose De Leon and Aaron Blair, 2 young starters who struggled in Tampa but De Leon in particular was much better with the Mets in 2nd half.
              Marlins (73-89)
Declining record. They still have Stanton and Yelich but traded Ozuna to Rays. Carrasco (FA signing) and Odorizzi were a nice combo as #1 and #2 starters but no-one else pulling their weight.
              Phillies (71-91)
Not much to say about their season but they have a good young team who look like they could do well next year.

              NL Central
              Cardinals (100-62)
Big bounce back year as a team. Stacked lineup and their pitching isn't bad either. Goldschmidt (FA signing) had an MVP type year until a late injury. He may be back for NLCS if the Cards get there.
              Pirates (88-74)
Back to back NL wildcard finishes (lost wildcard game in 2018). Tony Watson NL reliever of the year 47 saves 1.67ERA. OF Austin Meadows won NL Rookie of the year .305AVG 23HRs 80RBIs.
              Cubs (84-78)
Declining record, underperformed and a team in need of more depth. May need to shed some of the big contracts if they can.
              Brewers (70-92)
Mediocre team not helped by bad pitching this season and they traded away Neftali Feliz (ARZ) at deadline who had a great year as closer both before and after the move.
              Reds (59-103)
Injuries to better player didn't help their record. Mesoraco was a bright spot, NL All Star and Silver Slugger at Catcher. They have some good young starting pitchers who did pretty well this season and have really good potential.

              NL West
              Dodgers (108-54)
Defending WS Champs who still look team to beat. Kershaw repeats as both NL MVP and NL Cy Young 22-4 2.06ERA 301Ks 6.8WAR. Joc Pederson won HR Derby and led NL with 46HRs.
              Giants (92-70)
Hottest team in majors to finish season. Won 27 of last 30 ending on an 11 game win streak to get into and host NLWC, Good luck Pittsburgh lol. Starting Pitching on fire MadBum, Darvish, Cueto and Samardzija.
              DBacks (80-82)
Disappointing 2nd half after looking good for WC and they made some moves at the deadline e.g. getting Miguel Sano to compliment Bryce Harper and Neftali Feliz as closer but season didn't end the way they'd hoped.
              Rockies (76-86)
Standard season in the end for Colorado, good hitting but not good pitching. Tough division didn't help either. Got Soler from KC at deadline who had a very good year. Big question now is will Arenado leave in FA?
              Padres (42-120)
Record speaks for itself here i think. BAD team in a good division and unfortunately their record has gotten worse every year of the 3 so far in this franchise.

Will be playing and possibly streaming my postseason game(s) with the Astros beginning with the ALWC in Tampa Bay as we look to try and make our 3rd WS in a row. Could be tough!

I know it’s really early for you guys across the pond but I’m gonna be playing and streaming the ALWC game on twitch shortly. You will be able to watch it in past broadcasts though.

The NLWC game was won by the Pirates 7-2 as they went into SF (in a rematch of last years WC) and knocked off the hottest team in baseball and got revenge for their loss 12 months ago. They will now play the Dodgers in the NLDS so things don’t get any easier for them.

Well they don’t call it a wildcard game for nothing. It was a wild game for sure.

So after holding on to win said wildcard game (8-7), the Astros will now face the Angels in the ALDS. If it’s anything like the 7 game epic ALCS we played in year 1 (2017) then we’re in for a treat.

I will be playing game 1 today at some point.

I’m hoping to be able to play game 2 later today as well.

Yep....it is drugs. I can't stop playing that game!!!! But also been super busy with life and coaching travel baseball. We won the 14U fall title in one league this past weekend in a 4-3 thriller!

Last night in our other league we won 10-4 and vaulted ourselves into the semi finals. Game is tomorrow night against what I consider the best team in the league who knocked out the second best in the league (I do consider us a top 4 team in the league out of 24 teams). It will be a huge win for us. This team swept us in a double header last month. Tough games but we came up just short in both. So hopefully we can turn the tide tomorrow night.

Once that is over......Thanksgiving tournament....then finally a 4-5 week break and back to sports gaming!

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

I am playing my 3rd full season with my 3rd team. I am now playing as the Giants and I am 26-17 in the middle of May. I am 1 game back from the Dodgers. I am using the OP sliders for pitching and using classic. The only thing I have different is fielding speed and reaction is at 2. I need the CPU offense to get better. Here are my stats after 43 games.

                                This is all CPU hitting.
                                Avg: .222
HR: 41 (34.9 HR per AB and 1.0 per game)
                                BABIP: .264
                                Strikeouts: 8.1 per game
Extra Base hits: 8.5% of AB
                                Walks: 2.1 per game

                                Hit frequency:
                                Singles: 61.8%
                                Doubles: 23.7%
                                Triples: 1.6%
                                Home Runs: 12.9%

I am wanting to raise their average and BABIP. I have lowered Human Pitcher Control by 1 for the last coupl games and seen a little improvement. I am happy with the strikeout rate so I don’t want to mess that up. Would solid hits be the one I raise? I don’t want to give them more power.
