Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

I'm pitching on HOF classic, I have Hum pitcher control turned down to 1, still never walk more than 2-3 batters a game, which is "okay" but sometimes you should walk more than that, there are plenty of games where I don't walk anyone. I have CPU power set at 8 and solid hits at 6, and they cpu offense is just "almost" where I would like as far as their ability to score runs and hit the long ball. I'm really running out of adjustments I can do on HoF pitching to help them out. May have to move to HoF+, because I'm not doing legend on classic pitching, not a change that is going to work.

Hitting, I've been playing on all star+ until I felt like that become too easy as well, so I've moved back up to HoF directional hitting. Even with timing and foul frequency set to 3 and pitch speed at 10/9 post patch, I still don't strike out enough. I usually strike out a couple times the first time through the order, but then when I pick up on what the pitcher is throwing it gets impossible for them to strike me out. I felt like Ive been close to getting it where I want a few times but then have to bump up the difficulty somehow. I really don't see how you can play on HoF classic pitching without making significant changes to the CPU's offense capabilities though, and a significant decrease in the users ability to control their pitching. I just don't think 6 for power and 6 for contact is enough of a boost, the CPU needs more than that.

Sounds like you are really good at the game and sounds like HOF is just to easy for you. I know you said you don't want to do legend but it really sounds like you need to. I don't know how someone can play on your settings and only walk like 1 guy a game and not get it to hard by CPU to.

        Sliders are GREAT! Thanks Armor!
        Now 1st game with V1...
Finally got to see an injury in my 10th game, lost crazy Max after 1 inning. Richard kept me in check with a shutout and 5 hits allowed/8 strikeout performance

        Final
        Friars 1 7 0
        Natitude 0 5 0

Only one question, I'm using auto fielding with auto throwing, what would be good slider adjustments to commit more errors?

I am feeling very good with fielder reaction and fielder speed at 3/3 and errors at 4 across the board.

If you want more...turn errors to default 5 across the board. But I am playing the OP sliders to a tee and getting fantastic games, variety and challenge.

Although I am off to a 3-0 start in year two and on the verge of sweeping the Blue Jays on opening weekend the games have been awesome.

CPU Pitching AI has been improved. It’s obvious to me. They are very aware of who is at the plate and situation. Bullpen AI improved as well.

SDS heard our feedback on 17 and really tuned the gameplay big time.

And yes hitting was totally re-worked like Ramone claimed. Directional feels incredible. I feel in so much more control of my swing. I want to go oppo? Simply let the pitch travel in deep....want to really compensate it more? Push the LS in the opposite direction (3 o’clock for righties, 9 o’clock for lefties). But be careful...if the pitcher comes in on your hands you will more than likely get jammed and have weak contact.

          It’s beautiful!!!

Is the CPU scoring to much? If they are maybe you would lower timing by 1 or if not maybe lower contact down one more to 3.
I fear lowering their contact to 3 will make them ineffective. Right now they are scoring fine, long ball is good, but like I said way too much contact for my liking. I restarted my franchise and played Tampa bay. First three games:
            1-0 them, sale 2 K’s
            7-3 me, price 2 k’s
            4-3 them, porcello 4 k’s

So games are good, but no way sale and price only have 2 k’s a piece and have most of their pitches put into play.

                    Hey Armor,

As always, I use your slider set, but was curious if you had your sim sliders finished yet? I looked over the OP and did not see any.

                    Thanks man.

No sim sliders thus far. I am seeing very nice simulation results so far.

Curious, but do you have all the visual aids turned off and vibration turned off as well? IMO, it is absolutely key to turn off all of that crap.

Also, I think turning User control down too far can actually be a bit counter-productive in that it does seem to impact how the CPU approaches ABs. If you're looking for more CPU offense and walks, I would actually bump up the control slider from where you are (even going back to 4-5)...but THEN, begin lowering the consistency slider. The consistency slider will make you not only prone to wilder pitches but also to giving up "meat balls" over the plate. If you're legitimately working around the plate, offering pitches outside of the plate but want more variance in the outcomes....this might very well be a better approach for you.

I just need some confirmation before I start my 30-team control franchise with the Yankees. I have everything on the cpu controlled teams on auto except for rosters/lineups, 40-man roster and MLB-only injury control. Does the cpu rest players automatically or do I have to go in and rest players? Thanks

I only have 40 man roster and Lineups on manual for the CPu profile and everything else on auto (even injury control) they improved the injury logic and it works better this year.

But with 30 team control I take a look each week at the DL and if I see a guy who should be on the 60 day instead of the 10 day....I simply do it for them. I also check lineups as to what players they brought up.

                            So far...very good.

I generally play with everything like that turned off except scoreboard display. I like things to feel as "non-gamey" as possible. I've considered adjusting the consistency slider, but I'm already leading the world in wild pitches and I still hit plenty of batters. I thought the control would be a better adjustment to just simply miss your spots, but the slider itself doesn't seem to make much of a difference. I miss my spot usually maybe once per AB, other than that control is still always spot on. Control on off-speed pitches I suppose is a bit shaky but I can just compensate by throwing more fastballs, and even when I feed them fastballs early in the count they're so well located that the CPU can't take advantage of them, as they should be able to. I'm still gonna make the adjustments I need to to win the game while I'm playing, it's just the CPU obviously is not able to do the same thing.

I will try playing at 4/4 consistency and control combination you suggested and give it some games and see if that's the adjustment that it takes. Thanks for the suggestion.

But with 30 team control I take a look each week at the DL and if I see a guy who should be on the 60 day instead of the 10 day....I simply do it for them. I also check lineups as to what players they brought up.

                                So far...very good.
Thanks Armour. I keep injury control on as I think I read that notifies you of injuries.

Does the cpu rest players in cpu controlled teams?
