Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

About 10 games into my franchise using HOF/HOF Gold Version 1.2, feels incredible with outstanding hit variety, great fielding situations and the occasional goofball play that results in a laugh rather than a broken controller.

For the majority of us simulation franchise players, HOF hitting is without a doubt the way to go this year and feels so right.

IM not sure if its my timing or what....but every hit, foul, or homerun is opposite field. Im not seeing many pull hits....any suggestions on what to tweak? Im a vet show player and this is the first time I've had this issue.

Are you using directional hitting? If so, refer to Armor's post #434. Its a great explanation on hitting and getting pull hitters to help pull.
The only other thought is that you are swinging late in those situations giving it that oppo hit. Another thing you could try, is lower pitch speed -1 to give you more catch up to ball. Id personally try using directional tips first though.

For good reason Armor isn't one to make changes all the time.

Also if anyone is interested I can turn the strike zone on and post a pic of my Hitting Camera if anyone would like to try and make it.

Going to have a franchise write up soon but Stanton and Bird have been my two big RBI guys and Brandon Phillips isnoff to a hit start.

              Gary Sanchez also raking.

Judge other than a Grand Slam has been walked a bunch and has struggled but it is very early of course.

                - I am a play, see and feel slider maker. I want the game to look and feel authentic. When I get it to that point.....in my experience the stats always take care of themselves IMO. And in franchise mode...it is my universe and if some statical outcomes don’t match real life I am not sweating it too much. For example Stanton in year 1 of my Yankees Franchise while on the Marlins.....had a down year. It happens. Judge hit 42 HR’s for me as a rookie...pretty damn close to his real life production. CC had a revival year for me....pretty close to real life. Tanaka was better for me than he was IRL for the Bombers. But the games play and feel amazing. I always say.....trust the settings, make some adjustments to your taste, but don’t get caught in the rabbit hole of statistical perfection. There is no such thing...play ball, have fun and let the universe unfold and keep playing seasons in your franchise (with carry over saves it’s amazing knowing I can keep it going and have long lasting storylines).

I think right now I am sitting at about 6 per game, what is the slider that can effect having more strikeouts?? and I don't mean changing the CPU strike frequency I am thinking maybe contact being lowed would help this or perhaps. pitch speed having it up higher really does course more strikeouts harder to hit and quicker.

I don't like touching timing at all that won't effect stirkeouts that will just create more pop ups and groundouts.
                - I would seriously only look at the pitch speed sliders. That will absolutely make it more challenging for you if you feel you are not striking out enough. Last night in my series finale vs the Rays I struck out 8 times but also walked 6 times en route to an 8-5 win. I have not yet faced a top shelf ace (Stroman was off on opening day and Reyes for the Rays was awful walking me 5 times in 5 tough innings). Tanaka on the other hand was brilliant over 7 innings for me striking out 9 Rays allowing only one earned run on a solo HR from Longoria (yep he is still with the Rays in my year two franchise from 17).

                - TBunz....this post from forme95 sums it up pretty nicely. Take a look at that post (which I will now put on the OP) and work on it. Lowering pitch speed by one click two max can also make a huge difference. Out of the box on all-star I was pulling almost everything. I like the patch fix they made to pitch speed. and as Josh1977 said....click it down 1 on All-Star and IMO 2 on HOF and you will get the “out of the box” speed again.

All answers are in bold. So far V1.0 is playing simply magnificent for me.

                No changes at this time.

A Franchise write up is coming soon on The Yankees Year 2.

Armor great work as usual, loving what I am seeing so far!
I could not hit at all for the life of me on HOF the first 5 games I played.
I switched to All-Star and the 2nd game I had my coming out party.
I scored 10 runs and hit 3 hrs. I have played 5 more game on AS hitting and am hitting .275 as a team. I can see my moving back to HOF hitting in the near future.
The only thing I see that I needs adjusted is HUMAN STARTING PITCHER STAMINA.
Once my SP's get to 80 pitches they are done, their bar turns yellow and their control is pretty much gone.
Its weird because the CPU's SP's stamina seems to last much longer. Like they get to 100 pitches before their bar turns yellow. And yes I know SP's have different stamina ratings.

Besides that these are seriously golden for me!
I love the back and forth when pitching this year.
I am 1-4 in my Reds Franchise and I am loving it! Never has 1-4 been so much fun in a game!

Quick moment from my last game last night.
I am the Reds going into the bottom of the 9th down to the CUBS 7-6.
First batter Jesse Winker walks (I am drawing walks this year!) second batter doubles but Winker holds at 3rd.
Votto comes up with no outs and men on 2nd and 3rd and they intentional walk him (great more). Duvall K's on 3 pitches.
This brings up Scooter Ginnett with the bases loaded and down by one with one out!
I run it to a full count, Scooter hit a hard grounder up the middle that when it was hit I thought was the game winner. I actually stood up and was making sure the runner on second heading to 3rd would head home for the win. Well then Baez dives, stops the ball, flips it from his glove to the SS coving 2b for the first out. The SS bare hands the ball and throws it to first to end the game!!!! I lost 7-6! I went from thinking I had just won the game to losing in a half a second! It sucked but was so cool! That's when you know the game is fun!

I made the jump to Hof hitting last night. In my first game I had 12 hits and scored 6 runs in a 6-4 braves win. Like a lot of you said hitting on Hof is Damn good this year. I knew it was time because I was hitting 300 as a team after 32 games.

One click up to Human Stamina at 6 would do the trick. I personally have not seen it as an issue.

Last night Tanaka went 101 pitches for me over 7 1/3 innings striking out 9. He still did not get the tiring message. Then gave up a monster dinger to Longo.....done.

But if your staff needs a little boost 6 will do the trick on the stamina slider. Also it is impossible for me to know if you are using a lot of max effort or 75% effort on your button presses with classic pitching.

I personally really pick my spots for max effort. But if you use it too often...you will tire faster.

Fielder Reaction at 3 and fielder speed 3 three IMO gives you a beautiful simulation of plus gloves vs below average gloves. Guys that should not be making web gems on a regular basis won't. But even more importantly and subtle....your hit variety will be amazing. You will see far more bloopers, sinking line drive singles, gap line drives falling in more instead of being tracked down routinely.

Trust me on this setting.....it is one of the core adjustments to this slider set that really let's the game breathe and the ball physics and defensive ratings shine brightly.

You will see far more bloopers, sinking line drive singles, gap line drives falling in more instead of being tracked down routinely.

Trust me on this setting.....it is one of the core adjustments to this slider set that really let's the game breathe and the ball physics and defensive ratings shine brightly.
Interesting. I figured it just turned everyone down, but if I'm understanding you correctly, you're just saying it increases fielder disparity. If that's the case, I may have to give this one a shot.

Thanks, I know you always deliver with sliders but game is playing so well on default to me, I'm hesitant to make the change.
