Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

We are back at it with the 2017 Yankees Year 2 again. I had been away the last several weeks with baseball tournaments.

Will be hitting the All-Star Break by this weekend and the Hot Stove is on fire. I look forward to giving a full write up on the blockbuster deals that will be taking place around the league as the phones are ringing off the hook. What is also intense is the A.L. East Race is incredibly tight. The Yankees, Blue Jays, Orioles and Red Sox are all beating each other up. Even the Rays sit under 7 games back.

It will be interesting to see the moves that will be made. I can't see The Orioles moving Manny Machado as they sit 1.5 games back currently. However if things fall apart after the All-Star break a July 31st deal is not out of the question. But if the Orioles are within striking distance....they will have no choice but to stick it out and maybe even make a push for another Starter in the rotation to keep pace.

The Yankees did make their big move acquiring Justin Verlander from the Tigers. Keep in mind this is the Justin Verlander from MLB The Show 17 before his arrival to Houston. His ratings are not as rich as the Verlander in MLB 18. But he is still very solid. However the contract is brutal. It remains to be seen if he will retire after year 2...or stick around for year 3. But he is currently 35 years of age. Also we shall see what regression he has come the off-season. But the Yankees feel great about getting him even though they gave up a very good B prospect and CF Aaron Hicks (Brett Gardner is also slated to become a free agent and is also way up in age, although the Yankees are said to be very interested in retaining the lifetime Yankee).

Stay tuned for a huge update soon!!!

The OP is updated with the details of the Verlander trade.

~100 games in with A&S sliders. Still feels solid and varied but...

My Rockies just went on a 12 game tear, besting their franchise record by 1. We finally lost the 13th to a shaky Dodgers team.

During that streak, the AI felt push-over easy. It was like a switch had flipped and suddenly the AI couldn't hit and all I could do was launch dingers. Has anyone else struggled with hot streaks that feel a little unrealistic?

My entire April so far has been a giant hot streak, but I'm sticking with it and not changing anything like Armor has been telling us all year. Hopefully the CPU can turn it around soon in my franchise though because it has been a bit repetitive lately.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

Started my franchise losing my first five games with the Reds. Jeez our pitching sucks and I’m struggling to get the top of my order going.

          L 1-5 WSH
          L 9-11 WSH
          L 3-5 WSH
          L 2-5 CHC
          L 3-11 CHC

Go to Pittsburgh. I’m starting to get Hamilton and Peraza going. And their base running played havoc against the Pirates. Scored the first run after Peraza singled, stole second, advanced to third on a ground out by Votto, then scored on a groundout.

And Billy Hamilton...scored from second on a dropped third strike and wild throw by the catcher.

And that’s all I needed. Castillo was much better his second start, going 7.1, scattering 4 hits, walking one and striking out 12 and Iglesias struck out the side in the 9th.

          We got our first win!

Through the first 20 games of my dodgers franchise my team era is 2.25 but I am pitching on all star because I have never been great at pitching...should I make the leap of faith to HOF pitching?

Yankees Year 2 Hot Stove Update

The Nationals got bad news on Steven Strasburg’s ailing shoulder when an MRI revealed a tear. It is believed he will miss 1-2 months.

The Nationals who own the best record in baseball wasted no time in making a deal to acquire SP Gerrit Cole from the Pirates. The Pirates received:

OF - Victor Robles (A Prospect)
                SS/2B - Carter Kieboom (B Prospect)
                RP - Carter Capps

Once Strasburg returns in mid to late September their rotation will be nasty with Scherzer
                Strasburg
                Cole

As their top 3. It seems the Nationals and Yankees are on a crash course for a World Series date in October. But we still have a ton of baseball left.

The Orioles also made a move to sure up their bullpen by acquiring veteran CP David Roberston from the White Sox for a couple of prospects. He will join Zach Britton, Darren O’Day and company in the bullpen.

There are still many deal brewing around the league as we approach the All-Star Break!

After getting crushed 2/3 by the Yankees the Orioles wave the Manny and Britton flag and make a blockbuster deal with the Cubs.

                  The Orioles recieve:

                  Addison Russell
                  Carl Edwards Jr
                  Albert Almora Jr.

                  For
                  Machado
                  Britton

The Cubs infield is ridiculous now and no doubt they will resign both players this off-season.

The Astros not sitting around made a big move for SP Jacob DeGroom.
                  They sent the Mets:

                  SP David Paulino
                  LF Derek Fisher
                  LF William Ray

                    Cardinals Land Chris Archer!

The St Louis Cardinals would not sit idle. After their division Rival landed Manny Machado, the Red Birds (who sit 1 game in front of the Cubs) made a big move to solidify their rotation by agreeing to send 2 high level prospects (A and B) plus SP Nathan Evolodi to the Royals for Chris Archer. In year 1 the Royals landed Archer from the Rays in April....but then found themselves out of the race by July when they unloaded Salvador Perez, Eric Hosmer and Lorenzo Cain. 3B Mike Moustakis landed in St Louis in free agency in the off-season to join Salvador Perez (who replaced Yadi Molina who left via free agency to the Dodgers in the off-season).

The Hot Stove continues in the Yankees Year 2 Franchise!!!

I hope so too. I'm now 15 for my last 17. I understand that teams go on streaks like this in real-life but I don't think I can go on playing this easy for much longer. The same thing happened to me in '17, huge tears in June/July that just felt wrong. I might give RTTS a try again - I don't think there's a slider set that's better than this but destroying the AI every game in franchise is getting old.

Been using these all along, and I think they're pretty much perfect except on HoF it feels like pitchers have a bit too much control too consistently. Like there are way too many perfectly painted pitches—especially in tough counts. Anyone else feel the same way?

Man I had a crazy game against Mets last night. Had Gohra on mound through 7, 7 shutout innings, was up 3-0. Had to pull him as he was too tired. Bullpen goes and loses lead and shutout, as Mets end up getting 3 by top of 9th. 3-3, extra innings, top of 11th, they kill my reliever and go up 6-3, game over? Do not think so, I return the favor in bottom of the inning, tie it up 6-6. Top of 12th inning I get out their side, 1,2,3. Bottom of 12th, Acuna hits a beautiful ball, ground rule double. Markakis gets a sac fly to right, Acuna gets to third. 2 outs, Freddie is up, Sac Fly deep to right field, Braves win 7-6!!.
