I’m 5-0 in my Angels franchise. I just moved to HoF hitting last night against the home opener against the Indians. Beat them 2-4 (or 2-5, don’t remember). Didn’t feel like I was clobbering the ball as much as I did against the A’s, but did have a 2-run homer with Pujols in the first. Gonna play with HoF hitting more, with solid hits back at 5.

I think timing is our friend for this issue. I don’t suggest changes to the set because they are simply a framework for user skill level.

I simply want a few more swings and misses for both teams, so will try to move timing down for both to find a sweet spot. When they do time it, the contact/power/solid hits settings should allow us to still see good offensive output.

Will let you know what I find!

Are you leaving cpu solid hits slider at 4 even though you raised human solid hits to 5?

Thanks...loving the set as usual. Love the clean screen approach as I even bat from a BTP broadcast view . Anyway, thanks and I wish SCEA one day gives full control over turning off all aids/notifications/icons. Your efforts (every year) are much appreciated!

Hey Armor, care to share which 40 man edit you're using? Seems like everyone and their brother is claiming to put out their own 40 man. I figure what is satisfactory for you will probably be good enough for me.

Well I have not started a new franchise yet this cycle. I am playing my carryover files (check my signature).

But I will tell you this:

In order of importance in my 40 man decisions:

A and B prospects (as many as I can fit)

                  Pitching depth

                  Everyday players.

So 25 make the squad of course and the next 15 must be the 15 players I value the most and do not want exposed to the Rule 5 draft, and players I expect to move between the big club and the minors a lot more frequently so I get the most out of using that option.

No, not at all...depending on the hitter/pitcher matchup. Those player discipline ratings really come into play as do the strikeout ratings for the pitcher. For disciplined guys, I attack them in the zone and try to induce weak contact. For undisciplined guys, I'll try to get them to "go fishing" by attacking the outside of the plate.

Most people know that you need to vary your pitch selection and where you throw the pitches. But, you also have to know your pitchers and how much to add or subtract from each pitch for optimal effect (by means of varying the duration of the button press within the 1 second window) based on the situation and count. I sometimes will throw the same pitch to the same location multiple times in an AB...but vary the duration so they get multiple "looks" (example being a "tap" for a loopy slider that breaks a lot versus holding down the button longer for a much harder/sharper break). Classic pitching is way more of an art than a lot of people give it credit for.

The best 40 man roster is the one you do yourself. I did my own last night off of OSFM v1 and I definitely personalized some little things (i.e. like putting Acuna on the 40 man now...even though he isn't on it IRL at the moment). Sure, it takes a couple of hours...but by investing your own time into it, you make it your own...and that can add a ton of immersion.

That was my original plan of attack. I started immediately upon release of version 1 last night and made it through the AL in a couple hours. Then upon learning of the subsequent release of multiple updated versions in a short period of time, I debated with myself on what to do and I ended up abandoning my work and downloaded the most up to date version. Needless to say, I regret my decision but what are you gonna do?

This is what I feel is so underrated in the sim community. It's ok to take some extra time to make your franchise YOURS and creating some more fun out of it. For example, in every sports title, I always put me and my brothers in my franchises in the appropriate years even though it's looking like none of us will be professional athletes. Time is running out for me in NHL though. (19 years old)

My braves are falling apart lol. After a good April where I finished the month with a 19-15 record I have now lost 5 straight I can't hit I can't pitch. This game is so awesome with the ups and down of a season.

Oh heck no!!! Only when I want maximum effort and I am not worried about location. For example with power pitchers and power closers I will hold till vibration on splitters and 4 seamers up and in or down on 2 strike counts to try and get the big K

Curve balls, changes and sliders anywhere from a tap to a medium hold before it vibrates.
