On 6/7, are your HRs typically on offspeed/breaking stuff? What are your strikeouts typically on at 7/8? Most of my strikeouts come from speed differentials from pitch to pitch. Have you tried using 6/6 or 7/7? I'm not finding a need for a speed offset as much as last year. I just wonder if that offset is a problem for you.

Judging by this I believe 7/8 is where he should be at, he just needs 2 things.

      1. He needs to edit his camera to be offset inside ever so slightly.

      2. He needs to put in a good week or 2 worth of games in to also get acclimated to the speed. Once he does he'll be good.

Good questions. Most of my homers on 6/7 come because I have that split second longer to react. I don’t miss (or be late) on those meatball fastballs or those hanging offspeed pitches. I am more aggressive because I see the ball better which results in very few strikeouts. On 7/8 I can strikeout at least 10 times. Usually it is because I either swing way to early trying to catch up to a fastball and get fooled by an offspeed pitch or I get caught looking or by checkswing because I didn’t react fast enough. I can be sitting on a fastball on a 2-0 count and be late on a low 90’s fastball. I can still get a decent amount of hits on 7/8 but most of my homers are on offspeed pitches. I haven’t tried 7/7. Thanks for your reply

Not really a slider question but im curious and this thread is really active w knowledgable franchise guys.

How many trades to you guys usually make before you start your franchise. I try to limit myself, as i want the team to keep its core. I tend to have tradeitis once i start. Lol.

On fastball speed at 7, you're sitting fastball and are still consistently late on low 90s...are you OK with that (the key word here is "consistently")? When I see this happen, I know that the speed is too high for me....(this is is me on HOF at 4...where I feel getting a good solid hit is more 'luck' than 'skill')

If I were in your shoes I would go one click downward to 6. It's not about "challenge"...but it is where you have to ask yourself what other variables are in-play at that speed besides your own reflexes (such as monitor refresh rate, input lag, and so on). But I would also lower the offspeed back to 6....you got to have the velo separation, otherwise the offspeed stuff is going to be too close to FB speed (exception would be if you are using a pitch edit roster in a carryover franchise where speeds are a bit more accurate than stock rosters).

Great, great sliders once again Armor.

                    Question for you.....

I was reading through MBMavs20 pitch edits and thinking I should take the time to edit all the pitchers in my franchise (since I am still in Spring Training).

Do you think making these pitch edits will dramatically change how your slider set plays? If so, I am going to keep my OSFM roster as is, because you nailed the gameplay so well with your sliders.

Personally, I always try to do it from within the organization first. Maybe hoping to catch lightning in a bottle with a home grown player. I do sell off veterans if they are not holding their own during the season. Usually for another struggling player on a another team. I guess just make sure the trades will sit well with you. You don't want to be a few games in, thinking you got one over, and second guess yourself. For example, in my current franchise, Syndergaard is out 1-2 months with a wrist injury in the spring. I initially went into the spring just trying to figure out my bench and bullpen. Ended up playing the entire spring shaking out my rotation. I don't know if it's more of me building a narrative, or I just hate myself. Having fun, though!

Thanks for your reply. I would say I’m fairly consistent in being late on fastballs because of having that split second less time to identify the pitch. Once I determine it’s a fastball I can be late, even in fastball accounts. Here is my dilemma. I’m playing against the Blue Jays and Stroman is on the mound (not really a power pitcher) with pitch speeds at 6/7. After 4 innings I’m up 5-0. I have 8 hits including a 3-run homer by Stanton and a solo home run by Didi. I have 2 walks and 0 strikeouts. I change to 7/8 to start the 5th and the Jays replace Stroman with Barnes (throws a bit harder). I am held scoreless for the final 5 innings (win 5-1). I only get 4 more hits (3 singles and a double), 0 walks and 5 strikeouts. This is why I’m stuck between whether I stay at 6/7 or move up to 7/8. I want to feel challenged and feel like I earn my victories and be able to celebrate my home runs I hit, but at the same time I don’t want to make things too difficult.

I use the zoom camera angle as in previous years.

Armor quick question. For the injury slider. Do you think splitting the difference at 7 would work. Trying to remember to switch back and forth is killing me. Thanks.

Barnes might have done that to you had you not changed the sliders too.

Sometimes you have better timing on certain pitchers than others too. I can CRUSH Kershaw for some reason, but Gio Gonzalez kills me.

I don’t know how many games you’ve played with one setup, but try and settle into whatever you feel comfortable with and get a slew of games in. Do some games using weaker offensive teams too.

If you’re reacting to things mid-game, you’re going to keep waffling on it and drive yourself nuts (I’m totally guilty of this too).

Yes, I’m at that “driving myself nuts” stage. My problem (sickness) is that everytime I make a change to a slider I feel the need to start my franchise over. Which is why I play the same games over and over again. I always follow Armour’s exact sliders, except I always seem to use a higher pitch speed than him. I am hoping to lock in my speed SOON so I can start my franchise (again) and never look back.

                                Thanks for your input
