I am totally locked in and having the time of my console baseball gaming life. And Greg Bird is having that “magical” year for me thru 7 weeks of the season (we are fast approaching the end of May already as I can’t stop playing my Year 2 Yankees franchise!). Bird leads all of Major League Baseball with 20 HR’s, hitting .320 and a SLG % north of .760. He is on a torrid MVP pace and I am loving the story line. I knew he would be a benefactor of having Stanton, Judge and Sanchez in front of him....but this is beyond what I thought so far.

Go with it. If you are having a blast do not get bogged down in the “every stat must be realistic” slog of slideritis. It will destroy your enjoyment of this amazing game. It will never be perfect.....ever. I am not walking enough CPU batters. I am not letting that get in the way of my enjoyment. It is something I learned to live with a long time ago with this series.

In the end it is a video game. We have user input. Despite the approach we use and believe me I strongly believe the settings and interfaces we use in this thread are the best way to enjoy and immerse yourself in a ratings driven baseball game experience, we are still using our “user skill” to hit, pitch and make managerial decisions.

The game is simply a joy and beyond any other sports game I have ever played in terms of realistic gameplay.

I am so over the ridiculous negativity of the general forums and the outright garbage being posted. This game is thus far a crowing achievement for SDS in terms of providing a realistic console baseball game.

So the bottom line is.....have that triple crown season. Have two of them!! Think about all the talk and hype after the Yankees acquired Stanton. I am on pace for a new MLB team record for HR’s and I am loving that. I am hitting dingers all over the park with this lineup! Just like I should!

Same here I am so locked in as well. I am so in love with this game. Freddie Freeman is having that magical season for me he is hitting 322 with 30 and 62 rbi ln July 2ns in my season. Absolutely want that triple crown. Lol. I don't understand how there are so many people that have negative things to say about this game. I think those people will never be happy with any game and should probably stop playing. This game is so close to perfect it is sick.

Awesome, and might I just say, Armor is someone here at OS I have 100% respect for, even to the point I trusted his insight and knowledge, and made the switch to ps4 pro from xbox to finally play console baseball again. WOW, his input and observations on The Show being gaming and franchise bliss are right on [emoji106]; most importantly fun and with tons of Variety.

So when do you just except that your sliders are good and giving you realistic results, but a guy on your team is just having a magical season?

Cause my sliders feel really locked in and team wise stats are pretty much right on. But Giancarlo Stanton is having a magical year, I'm talking like Triple crown and HR record magical.

My pitch speeds are up, my offense is not running away with stats, except for those tricky user walks everything is in line. Stanton has just been amazing.

He hit .250 with like 10-12 HRs after April, I can't remember exactly it's in the thread somewhere.

Now he's in the .340s 43hr 78rbi and I'm 12 games from the break lol. Honestly I feel like he's just having one of those magical years, cause he could fall off at any moment and go back to his .250 hitting self of April.

Idk just throwing the question out there. Armor?

Geez, I wish I had your “problem” with Stanton. I am a huge Yankees fan as well. I had decided not to buy this year’s version of the game but that changed when they traded for Stanton. I had to start my franchise over recently, but after 2 games Stanton is 0-9 with 5 strikeouts. I’m thinking I’m just too amped up when he’s up to bat. Last game I won 5-4. I got 12 hits but Gardner, Judge and Stanton were a combined 1-14 at the top of the order. Their only hit was a solo homer by Judge in the top of the 9th. Every other hitter had 2 hits.

I guess that is the hard part about playing as your favourite team/players. Sometimes you try too hard!!

Going to be streaming test franchise games in the next 30-40 minutes. I will post here when I go live.


So initially thoughts playing default All-Star Hitting and HOF Pitching.

• Incredibly smooth and balanced out of the box.
• Fielding is amazing and ratings really shine
• Seeing imperfect plays such as balls clipping off gloves, but staying with the play and throwing guys out. imperfect baseball....what a concept!!!
• Hitting is simply amazing. Directional hitting has never felt better.
• Ball trajectories and physics are refined even more from the jump we got on 17!
• New presentation is really welcomed, new camera angles, real time replay, Derosa sounds great.

So here is what I am “feeling” right now and am going to focus on first.

Human hitting on All-Star initially feels amazing, but I have been simply raking the ball. Going to play many more games to get a sample size feel and see if I need to make All-Star slightly more difficult for the human player.

Keeping my eye on outfielders speed which right now looks great out of the box. Also infielder reaction and making sure they are all not superman and ratings really separate elite, from good from average.

Playing with injuries during games on 9 and simulation on 5.

Why are you messing around with different levels and default sliders? I thought you were locked in on page 1 set?

Game 1 turned out to be the pitchers duel you might expect with Keuchel and Kershaw on the mound. No runs were scored until the 6th where the Astros got 2 and then 1 more in the 7th. which was enough for them to win 3-0. Their bullpen continues to dominate with another combined 3.2 innings where they allowed just 1 hit and 1 walk.

Game 2 will be later today.

0-9 with 5 K’s sounds pretty realistic for Stanton if you look at the slump he was in at home earlier this season.

Anybody else think that when playing 7 o’clock night games the sun sets too late? My games don’t get to be dark until the 8 or 9th. I think I’m real life games are dark by the 7th.

First that doesn't have anything to do with sliders. Alsonit is realistic because it deoends on what time of year and location. Pretty accurate actually.

I’m very happy and completely locked in with these sliders.. only slight changes I made were to fastball speed at default 5 and human pitcher control default 5. I’m walking more batters with control up and striking out more since I’m actually missing more fastballs.

I very well may be moving to default pitch speed here. At 4 I have been simply raking for a while, now that I have settled in. Granted I have a seriously ridiculous lineup with my Yankees. I will continue to monitor my pitch speed slider as that is truly a key to hitting period. If you find yourself in extended hitting slumps move it down one click and keep that change-up offset one higher than your fastball speed (trust me on that). If you find yourself hitting too good for too long you may consider moving it up simply one click (with a +1 offset for your change up slider).

So for example. If I decide to give Fastball a go at 5 I will move my change-up slider speed to 6.


If you feel you need to move down to fastball 4 then have change-up at 5.


I am totally locked in though with everything else and I love injuries at 9 (actual played games) and 6 (for simulated/quick manage games).

The Yankees pounded the Rangers BTW in game 1 of their 3 game set to give the Bombers 7 straight wins (6 straight now on this 8 game road trip). We are simply in the zone folks. And it feels gooooooooood!

So yeah....I have so much baseball to play and loving every single minute of it!!!!
