Just wanted post something that ive noticed a lot and have mentioned before, but never looked into the data.
I have mentioned (somewhere - i thought here..) that my ground ball batting average is about what it should be. But the CPU is slways getting ground ball hits between fielders, etc. Seems like ground ball singles beat me every game.
My ground ball batting average is .242 (MLB is .239)
CPU ground ball batting average is .350 which is insane.
So i thought, well CPU power or solid hits or something needs to be changed to lower the speed of ground balls getting through. But without changing any sliders, i went back and looked at some data and expected to see something different than i saw -
The CPU hits more softly hit ground balls than me. (7.6% of human ground balls to 14% CPU)
These are usually outs, but sometimes base hits because the infielders are charging, or these are choppers, slow rollers, etc that dont get to the infield dirt..
I hit more medium hit ground balls than CPU.
(78% to 71.5%)
Hard hit ground balls are practically even. (95mph+)
(14.4% to 14.5%)
The medium and hard hit balls are where most of the CPU's ground balls turn into hits. Yet i actually hit harder ground balls percentage-wise overall.
I really dont think manual fielding causes this much discrepancy, because most balls that get through are base hits all the way.
Also, it is not just these sliders, because I've noticed this well before now, with many different sliders, but never took the time to look at the numbers.
I find it interesting that the CPU hits over 100 points higher than me on ground balls, yet i actually hit the ball harder...
