    Re: FenwayMac 2018 Legend Sliders

So I played a exhibition game with the Yankees against the Reds. Debating on starting a NL team. Deciding between Milwaukee, St Louis, or Colorado. But I really like the NL Central parks. But Colorado has SF and LA.

Well I tried Zone and Meter Pitching. Severino against Bailey. I hit 3 HR, 2 doubles, 4 singles. .265 BA and a .250 BABIP. It felt good. I had 7 K’s with 3 BB. Severino was dealing he gave up 3 runs in 7 innings striking out 11. The 3 runs were all solo home runs including back to back in the 7th inning. I didn’t walk anybody though. Struck out 15 all together between Robertson and Chapman.

    Yankees 5 9 0
    Reds 3 6 0

So of course I continue my Franchise with these new sliders and Tanaka is facing the Rays that ripped me apart last game. First 4 batters they are already up 4-0. 2 singles, double, home run.

That’s a good looking line score right there (minus the lack of walks). He is top-flight though, so he has that working for him and also if they are swinging at everything, what can you do?

There is something funny about the Rays, including their pitching. I think the developers are from Tampa!

Tanaka settles down after that. My bullpen got taxed last game so I was leaving Tanaka out there to take one on the chin. Through 4 innings still 4-0 but gave up 8 hits but no walks yet. Struck out 3.

So I lost that game 4-1. Tanaka went 7 innings giving up 9 hits, 4 runs, 2 BB, 5 K.

                Yankees 1 6 0 - 5 singles, 1 triple, 4 BB, 7 K
                Rays 4 9 0 - 6 singles, 2 doubles, 1 HR, 2 BB, 7 K

                BABIP
                Yankees .240
                Rays .333

Snell was dominant against me. But he is 9-6 with a 2.64 ERA. And this game kept him off the all star game too!

I’m considering trading Sheffield, Florial, Frazier, and Tate for Snell. I read somewhere that is probably what it would take. But I still feel like I’m cheesing the CPU in that trade. I know this is not the place for that.

I mix it up. Most always on fastball but vary it quite a bit on breaking stuff.

                      Re: FenwayMac 2018 Legend Sliders

So game 2 of using these sliders I play the last place KC Royals. They get off to a 6-0 lead and I lose 6-3. I get 2 runs off their scrub pitcher they brought in. But couldn’t touch the starter who had a 4.50 era.

                      Royals 6 9 0 - 2 HR, 1 3B, 4 2B, 1 BB, 3 K
                      Yankees 3 7 0 - 3 2B, 5 BB, 11 K

                      BABIP
                      Royals .233
                      Yankees .304

My BABIP was good but that was inflated by my strikeouts. My batting average was .212.

                        Re: FenwayMac 2018 Legend Sliders

Okay my 3rd game was a crazy game. Lowered pitch speed to 4/5 to see if that can open up the offense. Hit a solo shot in the first to take a 1-0 lead. That was good to jump out to an early lead at once. They tied it with a home run in the 4th. I hit another HR in the 4th and then had a couple walks and singles to load the bases with nobody out. Scored 1 run on an error and then 2 sacrifice flies to make it 5-1. Was feeling good. Then they scored 5 runs in the 5th and I was down 6-5. They scored another run in the 6th to make it 7-5. I scored a run to make it 7-6. They score another in the 7th, 8-6 now. I hit a 2 run HR in the 7th to tie the game at 8. Guess what? They scored again for the 5th inning in a row to take a 9-8 lead. And then in the 9th Stanton hit his 2nd HR of the game to tie it at 9. Yankees walked off in the 11th on a game winning double (but they counted it as a single).

                        Royals 9 15 3 - 3 HR, 4 2B, 8 1B, 3 BB, 5 K
                        Yankees 10 11 0 - 4 HR, 7 1B, 6 BB, 7 K

                        BABIP
                        Royals .343
                        Yankees .219

I didn’t see much hit variety but it could have been just one of those games. They seem to find the holes while my hits have to go over the wall it seems like.

Another note, it just might be my luck but there always seems to be a hitter in a series that I can not get out. Last series it was a Cron going 7-12 with 2 doubles, 3 HR. And now this series it’s Soler going 4-7 with 1 double, and a HR.

You want some good fun? Switch to the NL and watch every pitcher but your pitchers hit the cover off the ball.

Seems like there's "that guy" on each team. Seems like per game or perhaps it's per series.

I've run into it and I've had guys that were like "can't stop me" even if they aren't all that great.

11 K's isn't horrific. It's reasonable, especially if you faced a pitcher that had a good day (he has a 4.50 ERA because sometimes he's actually decent, otherwise, it would be like 7.00).

I would say you couldn't string enough together or manufacture some runs. You got 12 runners (7 H, 5 BB), which is not terrible. Just couldn't connect anything against the starter.

Had a game like that before - 10 walks, 10 Ks, and some hits, most doubles, but scored 2 runs and lost 4-2.

Also it depends on batted ball type - if you hit a ton of flies, you might have been "lucky" to get 7 hits and it might be why nothing could connect. (fly balls have the worst BABIP, so, eventually, they'll stop falling and it might be after one did to put a man on second, for example). If it was a lot of liners - just unlucky.

Speaking of line drives, KB, what are you seeing as far as batting average on line drives? Assuming you are keeping up with that...

I did have quite a few fly balls and some were cause I felt like I was below the ball on the pci. I had some liners off the bat that I thought would be hits but they were right at the infielder.
