I usually play without commentary just for that reason, to keep it fresh when i do use it - on MLB Network days.

I hope to play tonight and get a good start on the month of May and hope it brings better forune than April. I have a few veterans carrying the team on offense, but the young guys at the bottom of the order are not pulling their weight, like Guzman, Profar, Rua, Kiner-Falefa are taking offense in the other direction.

The biggest disappointment this year is Odor, who can't get a base hit even when he crushes it. He only has one double all month. Very unlike him. His Babip is .143! How unlucky can you get?? Guzman is very low too. Everyone else looks good. It's things like this that give me hope that this team can turn a corner and maybe find a hot streak somewhere.

      This one was gut wrenching...

Chicago Cubs @ Los Angeles Dodgers F/12

      CHC 5 R, 13 H, 1 E
      LAD 6 R, 15 H, 0 E

      Rizzo 4 for 6, 2B, RBI, R
      Schwarber 2 for 5, 2B, RBI, 2 R
      Contreras 1 for 5, 3B, R
      Russell 1 for 1, RBI

      Machado 3 for 6, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R
      Grandal 3 for 5, HR, 2B, RBI, R
      Kemp 3 for 6, 2 RBI, R
      Taylor 2 for 6, 2B, R

The lead changed hands several times. I was up by a run in the 9th, they came back and tied it. I was up by two in the 12th, they plate one and are down one with one man on when machado puts one over the wall, just barely, that schwarber could of robbed but I missed the timing. I seriously had a lump in my throat. It was a great game with a lot of small ball and I enjoyed the change of pace from my previous to. I can honestly say going into a game it really does feel like anything can, and probably will happen lol. Seriously this had me flashing back to last years NLCS lol.

Every pitch, every out, every pinch hitter or reliever changes EVERYTHING. Its why I watch all 162 games plus when we make it to the post season (luckily that's happening much more now!)

I'm not looking to track for a Franchise, since I mostly play road to the show with daily match ups sprinkled in between. I'm actually looking to track and see if statistics stay in line with team and league averages over a seasons worth of games to further support my Min/Max theory and how it pertains to not only a person using analog controls but providing better CPU sliders.

Since road to the show is much more CPU performance heavy I have found myself bouncing all around different sliders sets cause the games would be all over the map and ruin my experience. I got tired of coming up for my second at bat and there already being a 6 run differential and the starter out of the game whether it was my team or the others. This was happening way to often. So far with Fenway' s sliders the games I have played while testing these sliders out have been much more realistic and closer as opposed to lopsided all the time. I have had more games where it came down to the last few innings and Its become enjoyable, as it should be lol.

I have played two full daily match up games so far with the slider adjustments I posted a few days ago and the box score stats I dont feel are telling the whole story about how much more natural Im seeing the game play with Timing at 0 and Solid hits at 10 for both the CPU and myself. If I can start looking at the saber metrics I feel I can finally put my mind at ease and trust the adjustments and not panic every time a blowout happens thinking I dont have the sliders correct and changing them yet again. Im committed to playing an entire season without changing any more sliders just to put my theories to bed and play some ball! Im certain there are others who have tried analog and bailed on it because it doesn't work (in my opinion) any other way unless timing is 0 and solid hits are 10. So I have decided to contribute and hopefully help those who are still using analog as well as open a door for others to come back cause I still believe it is the best way to play...
Of course there is room in the rabbit hole! (Believe me there aren't many this far down here lol). Bring a flashlight. And some Funyuns (for me).

As far as RTTS is concerned, i am not experienced at all with sliders for that mode. Do you watch every play, even when you aren't the active player? I always assumed that if you only play the parts you are involved in, that the rest of the game would be simmed with the same sim engine as other modes. (Meaning sliders have zero effect, except the two Stamina sliders, Manager Hook, and the Injury/ Trade sliders) Maybe someone with more RTTS knowledge can shed more light on that for me.

I also noticed you mentioned the lack of walks. Is that also in RTTS? I have heard that RTTS is hard to draw walks in the minors, without fairly large changes to pitching sliders. Again- i have no idea, i just have heard it talked about. You know more about that than me.

I honestly hate to admit i have no idea what Daily Match Up is. Is it basically a full human vs CPU game? Kind of like franchise without the schedule? I only ask because you mentioned playing an entire season. I apologize i am pretty ignorant about what the game offers outside of Franchise lol.

You and i can agree on analog pitching. I think it is very underrated, with the right sliders, even for franchise.

So far these sliders have had an impact on RTTS since I implemented them. I do not witness every play, but now that you mention it I might need to find some good sim sliders and make a hybrid set for RTTS.

I actually walk a ton in RTTS actually, the low walk totals in my first two games was due to the fact I normally play on 10 Fastball pitch speed and 10 off speed pitch speed. When I implemented Fenways sliders I tried the pitch speed sliders out at the values originally shared and just couldnt adjust to the slower speed. I had mentioned I can understand how this would be necessary with using zone but on analog it feels more "boom"..."boom" and I like that. Also if im thinking fastball and its a change up (and vice versa) its harder to adjust on that speed like in real life which is what I'm going for.

Daily matchup is the live games of the day with live rosters, however you can make a custom game which is what I have been doing. I was sharing for two reasons, 1)I wasn't testing these with an OS roster but the live roster SCEA puts up every day 2)I wanted to play some of the best offensive teams to see if putting CPU timing and solids hits on 0/10 would provide lopsided games. Which as you can see it hasnt

As for analog pitching did you try my suggested tweaks for analog pitching?

And I mentioned the Franchise because once the post trade deadline rosters are released I will start a franchise and see how these slider theories of mine hold up over a season. I have tried playing one earlier in the season before but it interferes with me watching the real life games lol, so I usually just do RTTS. Although for the first time EVER (I always did random draft rather than pick the team I go to) I ended up on the Cubs!!! Seriously I have been playing this game since 07 or 08 and I have never been drafted or offered a contract by my beloved North Siders and this year my first run at free agency I had a 3 year offer to start, didnt even see for how much lol. Signed it before the ink dried lol.

As for analog pitching did you try my suggested tweaks for analog pitching?
Gotcha. I personally use modified Stamina, Hook sliders every day when i sim games. I use Starter Stamina at 9 and Reliever Stamina at 0, along with Manager Hook at 7. I just load the Sim set before i Sim, (and then load my Play sliders back before i play) This is only for simmed games in my franchise. I got this method from someone else here (Mike Lowe maybe?) And it seems to work well as far as getting pitchers to go the right amount of innings, and actually cuts Complete Games by starters to a realistic level (approx 10 per month league wide or so).

I have not tried your analog idea, except that i experimented with control/consistency extremes in testing way back there. But never with solid hits at 10. I have pretty much settled in with Control and Consistency very low, timing 0, and solid hits... somewhere (?), but not at 10, and i am getting good strike % and cpu line drive%, etc. --- However, i am always looking for any ideas to improve things even slightly. So i will start trying your Analog suggestions tonight, in a different franchise, and see how they go for me. Thanks for the input!

I’m gonna float those sim sliders for the last month of my RTTS season and see what it does. Pitching is definitely what seems to be all over the map in between my at bats. Seldom does 1-3 pitcher perform well or pitch deep. Thanks for the heads up.

Digital Camo night at PNC as the important home stand continues in the opener of a four-game set with Arizona.

This was a classic grind out game. No funny business on either side. Just good, solid baseball. Pirates win.

I lost the last game against the Red Sox 3-1 so it was a little disappointing that I didn’t get the sweep after winning the first two games. But I ended up getting my goal of 2 out of 3. I’m 1.5 games back. My next series I swept the Orioles for my last home series of the season. But I didn’t gain any ground cause the Red Sox swept the Indians who has the best record in baseball. So I have 7 games left in the season. I will wrap it up this weekend.

I raised cpu contact back up to 2. Their BA after 15 games got down to .235. It just stinks that a weak team will hit .150 against me and the Red Sox hit about .450 against me.

I admire your willingness to raise the contact despite the tight situation to end the season. Gutsy. that’s Slider dedication right there!

New here but a Show veteran.
I tried the settings last night. Love the challenge.
But you guys must be way better than me, I played 3 games and didn't gave up less then 14 hits (11, 9 and 5 runs).

I tried the settings last night. Love the challenge.
But you guys must be way better than me, I played 3 games and didn't gave up less then 14 hits (11, 9 and 5 runs).
How was your hitting experience? Pitching at this level is definitely a heart attack. It really makes you think hard about how you approach the hitters and each inning. I have learned so much about pitching this season from all the lumps I have taken on Legend.

I just now noticed that you changed the CPU contact to 2...that might help.
I might not have been patient enough though (not wasting enough pitches at 0-2...).

My hitting has been very realistic (7-9 hits per game).

I'm a stat freak...so I was glad to find your sliders and your thread.

Yeah it definitely makes you respect oppposing hitters - especially the middle of the order guys. Definitely get that ball out of the zone when you can afford to, and try to get the hitters to chase. You generally dont want to be throwing 70% striikes. More often than not, that will get you rocked. Don't be afraid to throw out of the zone - even on full counts in the right situations. Even on 3-0, 3-1 i usually try not to groove it, even though i am trying to throw a strike. Sometimes i walk them on accident. I am ok with that. I really want less than 50% of my pitches (overall) to be in the actual strike zone - of course every pitcher is case by case how they are utilized.

I also pay close attention to hitter attributes, hot streaks, etc, and i try to go after the weaker guys (still respect them) and be careful with the big guys. Vary those pitch speeds and locations - inside/outside, up/down, etc. You can set up hitters as well, and sometimes get some ugly swings when it's effective.

I still give up 9-10 hits per game, and a lot of runs. But my better pitchers do better, on this horrible staff.

Glad you found them! Welcome aboard and reach out with any questions. We have a good crew here!

Lowering contact to 2 was pretty pivotal. There are still lousy innings (see my rant just a couple days back), but i feel the CPU attack is much more balanced and fair (for the most part) with hitting contact at 2.

Give that a go for a few games and if still a struggle we can come up with some other ideas.
