I've settled on the above numbers for infield speed & reaction. I currently have my infield errors at 7 and outfield errors at 5 (for both sets). I've had games with 0 errors, and I've had a few with 3. So it seems realistic.

I have infield throwing power at 4. OF throwing power at 6.

I've had IF arm strength at 1 all year, so I'd say yes, arm strength slider factors into errors

interesting setting... how did you arrive at that?

and what is your baserunning speed at?

I have baserunning speed at 4, and IF throw strength at 4. I love CLOSE plays at first, as there are many of them in real MLB games. Just curious on this...

(I also have both IF error sliders at 7).

(I also have both IF error sliders at 7).
This has been my setup all year:

          Fielding Errors Infield: 8
          Fielding Errors Outfield: 7
          Throwing Errors Infield: 7
          Throwing Errors Outfield: 5
          Fielder Run Speed: 4
          Fielder Reaction: 1
          Fielder Arm Strength Infield: 1
          Fielder Arm Strength Outfield: 5
          Baserunner Speed: 5

I lowered arm strength for infielders to both differentiate the strongest arms and the speediest runners.

I can't live with IF arms at 1. Got too many beat out plays on routine grounders for my liking.

Even my 96 Arm SS had nothing on his throws

Knowing that's the factor, I'll keep lowering throwing errors until it's under control!

I am soon going to jump into the foray and offer a slider set I've developed. It's going to be the most unusual set here. I still have a couple things I'm looking at regarding hitting, but everything else I've pretty much locked into. I've come to really love fielder speed at 0 / reaction at 5 ... infield throwing power at 4 and outfield throwing power at 6. But I'll post all of that later when I have the set ready. I again just want to thank you guys for all the input in this thread...it's been extremely valuable and very helpful to my enjoyment of this game!

Mine are all default but now I'm wondering whether to make some adjustments. Especially in terms of fielder speed and arm strength. In particular, better differentiation between good and average fielders if possible.

I think the 0 Speed 5-6 reaction works for that.

The speed will make outfielders need good reactions if they don't have speed. They can still cover ground, but some balls will be a challenge if the reaction isn't high.

For infielders, they might get to more balls in holes with good enough reaction (relative to the velocity of the batted ball), and you'll see some dives and such (one reason being the lower speed decreasing the speed they can cover ground, making a dive to cover the last difference required).

I think lowering speed of fielders is the key part. Then, both raw foot speed and reaction/read/first-step accuracy (which, I think, is the province of Fielding and the fielding error slider) become important to how the play renders.
