    Thx for your sliders.

Alright. In terms of input timing vs results, there isn't parity between the CPU and humans on this setting. I'm against creating more of a gap between human and cpu for a few reasons.

      1. CPU timing and pitch selection become godawful with contact at 1. There is parity in results of good swings vs bad swings, but skilled players will easily be able to outpitch CPU offence.

      2. The CPU doesn't utilize the slight shift. I swear to you, my team average would go down by at least 50 points if the CPU would just utilize the slight shift.

      3. Human players get a slight advantage due to better management. While my settings have cleaned up CPU management somewhat, a human will always be better than a CPU in this game.

For those still more interested in complete parity of results in spite of my warnings, the human contact slider needs to be two points higher then the CPU when playing Legend pulse pitching and All-Star directional hitting. If pitching is the strongest part of your game, I recommend 4-2. If hitting is the strongest part of your game, I recommend 3-1.

Wow. I seriously was getting fed up with the hitting in this game having no variety but you saved it for me. I cannot believe my hits were all screamers because the contact and power act as velocity floor and ceiling. I have hits dropping in, hits with topspin, lasers off the wall, seeing eye hits, and all in one single game. You have a believer for life my man, many thanks.

I probably could increase hit variety further if I went for a full simulation style, but like I said earlier a hybrid sim/arcade style is what I tune to.

While it may be true that power and contact raise and lower the hard ceiling/floor for bat exit velocity, it's better to think about it as changing the odds. Lower contact will give you lower bat exit velocities more often (especially on worse contact results ei OK, chopped, etc) while higher power will give you higher bat exit velocities more often (especially on better contact results ie good, squared up). Obviously the hitter's contact and the pitcher's H/9 are also big factors in this equation.

Unfortunately, contact also controls a myriad of other things. Getting sliders right has been a nightmare this year. I'm slow to produce sliders compared to most of the other slider experts here on the forums, but even I am usually locked in for a month or two by this point most years.

I'm not confident enough to say that these could be my final sliders yet, but I am confident that I'm close. With the exception of the basestealing slider, I'd say I'm within 1 tick on any given slider. I'm in a pretty good state when the basestealing slider is my biggest concern.

Assuming I get to keep playing at my current pace, I'd expect my final sliders by the end of the month. It's been a long haul this year. Looking forward to being able to just play the freaking game as opposed to worrying about balance.

It's so weird what affects what. I lowered my human control because I wasn't walking enough and all of a sudden, despite throwing pitches with the exact same location, the CPU discipline became nearly perfect and my strikeouts cratered. The CPU isn't actually responding to the pitch thrown as it appears on screen in any meaningful way. With control at 0, I threw at least a dozen 2 strike changeups that started in the zone and dropped and got 0 chases. Turn it back to 2 and all of a sudden I'm throwing balls outside that don't touch the zone and getting chases. Which is more accurate, but I just would not have thought that control would be the slider to control that.

All that to say, I have no idea how you arrived at this mix but it plays great. Thanks.

You may have had CPU contact too high for your level of control. It effects pitch recognition as well. I'm not sure what impacts it in terms of sliders, but there is a "lateness of pitch break" effect. Perhaps the control slider has an impact on that, which in turn impacts CPU pitch recognition.

Of course it's also possible you were a victim of small sample size. Slider making has its ups and downs. I've done a lot of experimentation but even I can't guess how most of the combinations of permutations would potentially play.

Thanks for the compliment though, glad you're enjoying it.

I am also really enjoying the sliders.

I am wondering what you think of the power setting. I do feel like 5 is a bit low, so I can see why you put it on 6, but 6 feels a bit too high. I wish there was a 5.5 setting lol. Also steals feels a bit high as well.

Everything else is spot on! Love there is a variety of hit trajectories for my team and the real chance of striking out against top pitchers and guys who have good stuff. Defense looks good too. I would say I see an error about every game and a half.

Thanks again for putting this out there !

I actually feel exactly the same about power. 5 was too low, especially on hard hit grounders. But 6 is just a tiny bit too high. Overall I'd rather have too high then too low considering the year that real baseball is having.

Basestealing will be nerfed in final sliders. It's actually the only thing I've changed. I want to get more playtesting done before I lock in and post, but if you want to get a head start knock basestealing down a point (down to 3).

                    Glad you like them!

I read your directional hitting guide but couldn't get any good results and then yesterday I read it again and realized I was going about it all wrong. Went on a 9 run outburst. Great fun. Those with the sliders are great.

And as soon as I read the line about "I have never hit a home run with the down swing," I mean the minute I did, I hit a homer with Colin Moran.

Well that line is certainly false now. I really need to edit that thing but I am way to lazy.

While I'm still unsure about the basestealing balance, I'm done with the All-Star set. While a future update isn't out of the question, I'm switching my focus to my legend set, so expect my current all-star batting related settings to be final.

Expect both V8 and Legend V1 by the end of the week. V8 is only updating the basestealing slider. It will be nerfed, the only question is by how much.

Sweet. I know I promised it by the end of the week, but stuff came up. I'm hoping middle of the week this week but we will see.
