Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider

What a Game and Finish ! The Marlins make a rare visit to Toronto and they have built a great team and are actually fighting for a wild card spot . We just past the Trade Deadline in season number 2 and the Marlins have acquired ( Over the 2 seasons) Lance Lynn , Jose Martinez , Lance McCullers , Danny Santana and they just got Ketel Marte at this trade deadline . Not bad at all .
So I was very excited to host the Marlins and this game did not disappoint . Caleb Smith was on the mound for them and he was just nasty , he struck me out 9 times in just 4 or 5 innings . We brought back Kevin Pillar via free agency as a back up OF and to bat against left handed pitchers , and he hits a Grand Slam here . Usually a Grand Slam would be the headline , but Bo Bichette stole the show as he hits 2 homers including a 2 run walk -off homer in the 9th inning as we were down by 1 run . What a Game , and what a Finish! My heart is still pounding . Without a doubt this is my most favorite game I've played in the Show 20 so far. A fantastic and exciting game from start to finish , hope you guys can check it out and enjoy .

One has been up almost all year and has worked his way into a 7th inning type role with very decent numbers in something like 45 IP; the other has been up and down but overall has pitched well and I have lots of confidence using him. (I’m talking both are rated in the 50s here.)

I don’t know anything about player-potential variance but thought I’d mention this because it speaks to raw talent vs ratings: if you really know a guy’s arsenal, and can really put together a good sequence, I don’t even think ratings matter: you can succeed with just about anyone. Doesn’t mean you will, heh, but I’m convinced it’s possible.

Same is true with hitting, really. You can hit .300 in the bigs with a guy who has a contact rating in the 20s, for example, I guarantee it. Odds of doing might be long, but with the right approach .....
      Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

I'm just gonna leave this here because I have to celebrate it somewhere and it occurred using Armor's 4.0 OP and Ridin's 2.5 roster:

I got an inside-the-park HR with Acuña. I hit a hard liner to RF, the RF dove, missed the ball, and I just committed Acuña to home because of his speed and the distance the CF had to cover to get the ball. I made it in by a few steps, and it was an amazing feeling.

I can't remember if I've ever had one of those in The Show before. If I have, it's been several years.

Nice! I actually just gave up an inside-the-park HR today.

So the Trade Thread is pretty dead these days. Thought maybe yall could help me out. Verdugo went down with an injury for 3 months, Jackie Bradley sucks for me but his 11 mil hit doesn't really want me to put him on the bench and Pillar is doing pretty well in Verdugos spot. I'm Tied for 1st in June and wouldnt mind adding Merrifield(Royals have the worst record). Would a trio of Downs, Casas, and Groome be sufficient for Merrifield? Also thinking of sending Pillar over to the Padres for maybe a lotto. Lagares is under .200

A week or two ago in MTO, I gave up a game-tying inside the park HR to Jose Altuve with two outs in the top of the 9th in GAME 5 of the ALDS! One out away from advancing!! He smoked it to center and I had a shot at it with Mercado. Gambled on the leaping catch, which I never make haha, and it caromed off the wall to no man's land. Luckily big Franmil Reyes came up in the bottom of the 9th: https://youtu.be/XX_lpPJtTnY

Chase Anderson in Season 2 for the Jays just hasn't been good enough and we called up both Alek Manoah and SWR , but neither have really settled in and pitched with some consistency .
So I needed to find a solution to my 5th spot on the rotation , and so keeping with the theme of the Jays and us having 2nd generation players such as Vladdy G , Bo Bichette and Biggio , it only made sense that I had to get the son of the All- Star and Jays great Paul Quantrill.
So we brought in the Canadian Cal Quantrill , and now we have 4 sons of 4 former All-Stars on our squad , how exciting is that ! And in his 2nd start for us he took to the mound at Fenway as we take on the Division leading Red Sox who have done a tremendous job with building a top contending team again . They have acquired Whit Merrifield , Trea Turner , Willie Calhoun , Trey Mancini , Joey Lucchesi and Jesus Luzardo just to name a few . And just have a look at what JD Martinez has done this season, it's just insane.
This is a crucial series as Boston sits in 1st with a 79-52 record and im in 2nd with a 76-54 record . If lose this it most certainly means my chances of winning the division are over . Joey Lucchesi was just filthy with his Sinker and Change Up in this one , tough tough game .

We make a rare and very exciting appearance to Wrigley Field ! Finally I get to play against the Cubs at Wrigley . Season 2 is coming to a close and we are in a serious battle for the the American League East against Boston . Coming into this game we are 0.5 GB and 2 GB of the Wild Card , the American League is just soooo competitive and insanely tough in Season 2! To have a record of 81-55 and not even be in a Wild Card spot is so frustrating .
But 3 weeks remain and after this 4 game Series we face off against Boston again and that will for sure determine who wins the American League East . Yu Darvish took to the mound for the Cubs and Nate Pearson for the Jays . Lots of strike outs in this one as both pitchers had the K's going for them . Bo Bichette and Vladdy are killing it this season.

81-55 and on the outside looking in? Wow! That's tough competition.

Yeah it's insane. The Indians , Twins and White Soxs all have more wins than me . Then u got the Rays who are only 3 games back and the Yankees have had a terrible season due to a ton of injuries . They are about 8 games back off the Wild card and most certainly out of the race. And then you got the Athletics in the A.L west who lead with a 68-68 record lol

with the chaotic world we are living in right now, I want to thank AS for these sliders and allowing us to escape from reality into our own baseball world. I chose my beloved Marlins and its been rough to say the least lol. Started first 25 games 12-13, since them I'm 1-10. My offense is putrid, starting pitching is awful, only bright light on the team is my bullpen, but not to often do they get a chance to actually shine because the team is always down lol.
I had one game against the Pirates, i was down 10-0 after 2 inning, that was a first for me in my 8 plus years of playing the show. Actually rather humbling.

Through 36 games here's my stats line
                          Team avg - .232 (28th in MLB)
                          Team HR - 22 (29th in MLB)
Team SB - 21 (Villar and Berti dominate the MLB in this category)
Team SO- 306 (Very pitcher friendly umpires to say the least)
Team OBP - .299 (last in MLB)
                          Team OPS - . 663

Team ERA - 4.34 (Bullpen has been a savior, Ryne Stanek in 14 APP has a 1.08 ERA)
                          Team Hits allowed - 309
                          Team HR allowed - 35
                          Team BB - 119
Team K - 189 (more on this later in the post)
                          Team WHIP - 1.40

The bright side to this franchise is the prospects, I'm just waiting on the right time to bring them up. Trade deadline will let these young guns shine I hope.

My question is for strike outs, I get that its always been a tough slider to gauge and tune. I'm averaging 5 K/9 as a team. I'm more concerned about the CPU contact on pitches. I will bury change ups, sliders in the dirt, and the cpu 8/10 times will hit a dribbler, but I feel like its just way to often. Any way to combat that? What other approaches should i take to get more Ks (besides using a better team)

                          Thanks again AS

This time we welcome the Reds to town as they try and stop our marvellous 2nd season and put a halt on us from winning our 1st Division title since 2016. They took the 1st game as Luis Castillo was a beast on the mound and they took the win by a score of 4-1 .
With just 2 weeks left in the season we now only have a 1 game lead over Boston and the stress is killing me [emoji38] So for game 2 it was Trevor Bauer for the Reds and Nate Pearson for the Jays , and Man O Man did we punish Bauer here . We hit 4 homers and Nate Pearson was nasty striking out 7 in just the first 4 innings of the game . Massive win for us and we gain some breathing room again as we wrap up the 2nd season . But It's far from over and this is going to be a dog fight to the end , it's truly crunch time now . Just a massive win and great game from our team , Blue Jays vs Cincinnati Reds , Enjoy

The only slider suggestion I can recommend is turning down CPU Contact to 4 (but it may nerf their offense more than you want in the name of a higher K rate).

It is a tricky and slippery slope. And I would suggest just trying that for 20-25 games and see the results.

I am out of pocket for a little bit as we are in the process of moving in to out dream home we built. We closed this past Monday!!

I should be back in business playing again around June 14th. (AT&T comes over on the 7/13 LOL).

I still have my previous home (putting git on the market July 15th) but I will become unplugged July 8th.

So do not think I am ignoring the thread......just insanely busy with life right now.

I anticipate being finished with Yankees Year 4 by the end of August and then going full steam ahead with the Strat-O-Matic fantasy Royals and a 1992 Braves season replay. After that......I want to dive into my Bacon Fictional Twins franchise.

This is easily the best time i have ever had with MLB The Show. And the amount of classic rosters for this cycle has been nothing short of legendary.

Congrats man! We've missed you in the meantime. I build homes in California and I know what the process entails. Looking forward to having you back full-time.
