Great to hear!

Agree 100% on sticking with MLB 20. It is sad as I always loved this time of the year getting ready for a new version of MLB The Show and carrying my franchises forward.

Not this year. And word is the so called revamp on franchise...not all the features will be available for the PS4 version.

So what is the point of getting the PS4 version of the game? When you can’t even continue what you started 1000’s of hours ago anyway.

For those on PS5 already....I can totally see picking up the latest to check out all the )hopefully) improved features of franchise and gameplay it has to offer.

I will be getting a PS5 most likely Christmas 2022. By then the disc version should be in far more supply and I predict at least a $100-$150 price decrease. Time will tell.

Easy pass this year. And that is OK. Hopefully this will all be worth it long term. And if it goes in the direction we don’t want it to go in....we will always have not only MLB 20 to play....but some of the other outstanding versions of the games. In particular MLB 14 and 16 which were excellent games and still have Season Mode!!! So you can play shorter seasons with classic rosters. That is something I have thought about doing in the future. Going back and installing 14 and 16 just to run season mode with all the fantastic rosters I have for them.

This one word in bold is the one that has me concerned.

I have faith in SDS, more than I do most devs, but the writing is on the wall for me.

What does revamped mean? It is very specific wording. It does not necessarily mean improved.

Hopefully we get what we all want on our wishlists. I want 125ish man rosters, better progression and regression, better more detailed scouting (NHL style), and better generated draft classes as a result.

I am sitting out mlb21. I have not lost faith in the franchise. I am not abandoning the franchise. I want to see the direction the team goes with the game though I do have my doubts.

I am not ready to give up on my Indians dynasty quite yet. One goal left to meet and that is the 4 peat. Maybe next year when I decide to get a PS5 and will have a better idea what MLB 22 will look like.

Plus with 93 rosters and my chance to get the Indians a 90s world series title, I can't move on. It's the principle of the matter.

That trend is becoming unnerving. I also was not a big fan of the words stick skills and competitive style being in their notes. We will still have directional hitting, classic pitching, auto fielding, and manual throwing I know but it makes me wonder what the next step is after competitive game style.

SDS has done a good job separating it to this point but trying to likely streamline the go to mode of franchise has me concerned about the future of this series.

I accept that I am in a demographic that is not their target for sports games anymore but I always felt this was the one that held out on the trend giving us great on field play.

I envision 21 being a year the game regresses off the field as I still come back to that word revamped.

My two cents...

I think there's a 50/50 possibility that the 21 franchise mode IS feature-lite. Here's the question; and one we may not be able to answer (even after the game drops). Did SDS do a lot of work under-the-hood to really make the "revamped" franchise mode significantly easier to modify in feature iterations? We could see them take a step back in 21 before it takes several steps forward in 22.

My bigger questions...and again, ones I don't think we'll get an official answer to. What is their "vision"? What are they trying to accomplish? Where do they really want to go with this mode?

In the past, where they really weren't doing major updates, we never had those questions...now we do, and the uncertainty there is a bit frightening.

Roh oh.

SO I went and checked. Any mention of franchise mode has been removed from pre-order marketing blog.

Like I said.....I have this odd feeling about this cycle. My gut never lies to me.

Like I said.....I have this odd feeling about this cycle. My gut never lies to me.

I checked in the PS Store and it still mentions Franchise Mode in the description for the game there. It now says “Enjoy updates to Franchise and March To October modes which empower you to better make decisions for the future of your club.” Yeah the change in wording now is a bit strange but all mention of Franchise Mode hasn’t been erased.

The new wording does imply that Franchise will receive some new things as you’d expect, but not huge mode changing things like the word ‘Revamped’ implies, but then the need to remove Y2Y saves doesn’t really add up. Unless they just added some new player ratings and that’s enough to mess up carryover saves.

But we’ll see. If Expanded Rosters is the big addition to Franchise Mode, it wouldn’t be as marketable as something like ‘Create A Stadium’.

So I am also playing a fantasy draft Royals franchise with that awesome 1980’s strat-o-matic roster.

I am going to play one season with that then draft another team with a different city and play another season and just rinse and repeat. Kinda like a redraft fantasy league.

So much fun man!!!

This mornings first stream is a 1978 game between the Yankees and Orioles (Guidry vs Palmer).
