It's funny reading the other thread and people want to blame SDS, but your reason is basically the answer.

MLB is dictating all of this so that the Show could be on Xbox. If anything petitions should be directed at MLB for this.

I knew the Show going cross platform was going to bring issues, and MLB made it even far worse now demanding the game to be the same on all platforms(Excluding PS4 for some reason lol).

I'm not a huge Y2Y guy, but SOTS? I literally cannot imagine playing the Show without custom music. I wouldn't even start a chise every year until all the SOTS's were set up. Just can't play a game without them.

It's definitely BS that PS5 Version can't have full SOTS, because XBox doesn't allow custom music anymore. That's removing 1 of the best and critical features of the game for immersion.

So glad I didn't pre-order 21 at all. Hell if anything sounds like the best version will be PS4 Version on PS5, which unfortunately is just a slight upgrade from 20, if at all.

Tell me this though, if 21 on PS4 can have full SOTS, why can't it have Y2Y saves and Rosters?

A mystery. And honestly.....for me personally....it does not matter. Without Classic rosters to use on the PS5 and take full advantage of the stadium creator....I have no desire to play 21.

21 on the PS4 is not going to be better than 20 because again.....no stadium creator to take advantage.

Gamplay wise.....PS4 version will almost be identical. Trust me. So maybe....when it is free on PS Plus (or 10 bucks) the PS5 version can find it’s way to my console if some excellent classic rosters are made to use with the custom parks.

But that won’t happen for 5-6 months easy. Far too much work involved to recreate the magic.

Sticking with 20!!!! We will keep this thread alive as long as people want to.

Ya agree with everything said. Again I couldn’t edit my post for some reason so I just left it. I chose poor wording.

What I was meaning to convey was exactly what they put in their FAQ. PS4 ‘21 SotS unchanged. All other versions will NOT allow custom music and have the 3/1/3 slots for batter/HR/pitcher only. Bottom line. Why this is I don’t really care enough to speculate. It just sucks. And I agree whole heartedly with everything lost. It’s a massive disappointment.

As I said earlier...’20 and this thread it is! Playing my restarted ‘19 ‘chise in ‘20 gives me 2 years then I can use Bryan’s ‘21 roster for a makeshift ‘21 in ‘20...lots of gameplay yet!

Then again I am 53 so maybe I should grow up and ditch the hobby?....nah screw that! Forever young baby!!

Let's keep this thread rolling. MLBTS 20 isn't going anywhere.

I am starting a brand-new franchise with Brinskie's 2021 1000-hour OD roster, this week... using the set on the OP. I'd be happy to post random blurbs on my new franchise once I get it rolling, as long it won't clutter the thread.

MLBTS 20 stays alive as long as we allow it to. You know the diehards of NCAA Football 14?? That's us with this game. We might still be posting about it on this very thread, 7 years down the road.

It is a mystery Armor. 1 I hope Sony comes out and blasts after release, like how they mentioned Show being on Gamepass Day 1 was MLBs decision.

Just idiotic in my opinion, ruin the next gen game for PS5 because Xbox doesn't allow custom music(Well if that's truly the cause)?

Honestly, cool that Xbox users gets 21 for free, but boy is it missing the most important features for me. No full Custom SOTS on next get? I'll pass on 21 then. Maybe play it when it's a free PS + game.

And what's the point of having SOTS Slots on Nexgen if you can only use the in game music? Doesn't it automatically do that anyway lol?

But no Cheers or Jeers? That's a huge miss. Glad 20 is so awesome on PS5, keep my Chise rolling for a long time.

If you want a fully immersive experience with the game’s most incredible feature (imo)...SOTS, many great roster sets, proven sliders, and a community that’ll (mostly) be playing it, I’d get 20 on PS5. I have it and it plays very well.

Yes it’s the same game, no there’s nothing new you’ll find (other than the unpredictable gameplay which is, as we know, as good as it gets) but at least you won’t have a neutered game.

No matter what I’m always a “new game” kind of guy. No matter what, I’ll be playing the most up to date game, but this is an utterly extreme scenario where I’m likely not.

When you deprive me (and many like me who cannot play without SOTS) of uploading custom music to make the game feel even more true-to-life , it’ll simply ruin the immersion beyond repair...bye bye fun factor.

SOTS is a staple. Having already spent hours creating walk ups, home run, hit, RBI, and in between inning music, I cannot let the prep for the 2021 season get flushed down the toilet. I know many others have done the same, as well.

I get it, it’s a business and they can’t make everyone happy, but I feel like this is where I need to apply that troll meme that goes something like...” That’s it, I am no longer an MLB The Show fan. I’m going to play MLBTS20 where they know how to make a real game“ lol.

It definitely hurts, I'm pissed about SOTS. Having to listen to that generic game music for batters, inning breaks, etc, no thanks.

I'm trying not to hate 21, but I'm certainly not going to spend my money on it either lol.

And honestly if the Beta test was anything like the true game, don't feel like I'm missing much staying on 20.

I hope all the big time Reviewers really notice these missing features and blasts 21's scores for it. Put it on notice as to why these features were removed.

I am interested in trying 21 on the ps5 at least. Not excited like I should be. I still plan on playing 20 cause I just started a Cubs franchise. Being a Cubs fan, I never competed a Cubs season on the game. I might start a new franchise on 21 with either the Brewers, Braves, or Cardinals. Thinking about the White Sox with that young team but would want to do that on the PS5 version so I can get them a new stadium at least. That stadium is so boring.

Most of the fun though is coming on here and waiting for Armor’s new sliders.

I said it before on here somewhere in the general thread, but I wish they would at least let us purchase songs if we can’t upload the songs anymore. Let me buy Go Cubs Go for a small price. $5 gets you so many songs or something.

Today confirmed for me to 100% stick with 20

so thought I would give an update on my playing every single game of the season post.. ohh boy

we have made it through day 10 of the franchise of playing every single game and every single pitch. and we have lots of fun and surprises.

Juan Sotto DJ off to terrible starts hitting only about 150 ! so lots of good players actually struggling.. Trout is only hitting 220 but has a OBP over 400.

the 2 big names that are hitting over 450?? the twins Polanco hitting about 472 right now just on fire!!! and Murphey of the As.. who would have thought??

now that most teams have played 10 games the stats start to matter and the hot and cold streak icons start to appear. this is my baby for 2021 I still aim to keep playing every game till I get to September then do some simming.

but I am not tired of playing this game yet it's like my different baseball world at night from realty!

I am using my own that I made back in Feb and edited all the service time and contracts. the transactions went till spring training. any other signings that happened in real life I made changes in my franchise.

PJ Snell dropped a surprise last night uploading his 26 man 1988 Season roster.

Again MLB 20 is the gift that keeps on giving!!


So an update on our franchise plans. I have several rolling and they are all on MLB 20 now. Last night:

The 1987 Yankees Year 3 were blown out of Toronto in the ALDS losing the series 3 games to 1.

The irony? We made a trade in the Year 2 off-season sending Harold Baines and Dan Pasqua to the Jays for RF Jessie Barfield. Both Baines and Pasqua hit 2 HR’s each in game 4!!! They were bombs.

The World Series champion ended up being the K.C. Royals (the classic year is 1989 in this franchise as it was in year 3) who took down the S.F. Giants in a great series. George Brett was the post season MVP.

Don Mattingly won his 3rd straight Silver Slugger award for the Yankees.

The off-season saw the Yankees lose #1 pitcher Ben McDonald to the Giants!!! I even offered him more money.....and he still left. I was stunned and it was a big blow. We traded for McDonald in year 1 and developed him into an 87 rated top pitcher.....that SOB LOL!!

So we are going into year 4 down a key pitcher.

The other franchise we were able to finally move over to 20 is the:

Fantasy Flashback 1990-2007 roster S.F. Giants.


I drafted this team back on MLB 17. Year one we finished 80-82 and out of the post season. I played one and simmer 5 to get through year 1.

Well let me tell you......the incredible farm system I drafted is about to come full circle. My pitching staff is insane. My pipeline of young talent is also amazing and I expect to make a deep post season run for several years. We did re-sign Miguel Cabrera to a huge back loaded deal....he is one of my franchise players along with Ken Griffey Junior (who is under team control for a little while) we will not be able to retain Josh Beckett following year 2....but that is ok. Our pitching staff is flush with young and in team control guys (Verlander, Wainwright, David Price to name a few) this is going to be a very exciting franchise moving forward on MLB 20 and I look forward to streaming opening day soon.

Has begun as well. Those who have followed me for a long time know this team and the Wrold Series run we had on MLB 16. We were knocked out of the NLCS in year 2 in seven games....and year 3 is now going. Look for streams on this puppy as well!!!

So we have this incredible swan song game right here to keep us going and I hope many of you keep enjoying the game. I think the OP is set...the new injury matrix and card system has added an incredible new life and eventually......I am sure I will fire up a brand new 2021 franchise with Brinskie’s (BryanMcnulty) 2021 updated roster.

It has come down to 2 teams.

The Nationals and The Royals.

I am leaning towards the Nationals as I have a Royals chise going with the
Strat-O-Matic roster.
